Use "group error messages by type" in Options when using the html validator. It will make it easier to identify primary causes and create solutions. The tag errors are the best place to start when debugging. I've noticed in the past that sometimes the validator identifies an error when in fact, it may be so technical that it doesn't qualify as significant to trigger a 403 error.
Hope that helps - Alan

thank you for this, just ran a report and got the following results, http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=www.in2town.co.uk&charset=(detect+automatically)&doctype=Inline&group=0
so i am going to try and learn what they are and learn what i need to do to fix them, many thanks for your help

hi, sorry it is www.in2town.co.uk

I'd love to help but what is the url in reference?

The web server is most likely specifying a folder and not a web page. Your webmaster should provide results of an assessment to determine if this is the error. Go to http://pcsupport.about.com/od/findbyerrormessage/a/403error.htm for more information. Ran one validator test and it reported that the DOCTYPE line is inconsistent with the actual content on the page. The list of accepted DOCTYPE declarations is listed here: http://www.totalvalidator.com/support/doctypes.html
Hope this helps. Let us know.

Redirect Error
Hello, I was sent a report from a colleague containing redirect errors: The link to "http://www.xxxx.com/old-page/" has resulted in HTTP redirection to "http://www.xxxx.com/new-page".Search engines can only pass page rankings and other relevant data through a single redirection hop. Using unnecessary redirects can have a negative impact on page ranking. Our site is host on Microsoft Servers (IIS). I'm not sure what is causing these errors. Would it be the way the redirect was implemented.

Using the Google Remove URL Tool to remove https pages
I have found a way to get a list of 'some' of my 180,000+ garbage URLs now, and I'm going through the tedious task of using the URL removal tool to put them in one at a time. Between that and my robots.txt file and the URL Parameters, I'm hoping to see some change each week. I have noticed when I put URL's starting with https:// in to the removal tool, it adds the http:// main URL at the front. For example, I add to the removal tool:- https://www.mydomain.com/blah.html?search_garbage_url_addition On the confirmation page, the URL actually shows as:- http://www.mydomain.com/https://www.mydomain.com/blah.html?search_garbage_url_addition I don't want to accidentally remove my main URL or cause problems. Is this the right way this should look? AND PART 2 OF MY QUESTION If you see the search description in Google for a page you want removed that says the following in the SERP results, should I still go to the trouble of putting in the removal request? www.domain.com/url.html?xsearch_... A description for this result is not available because of this site's robots.txt – learn more.

I disappeared from Google, but not Bing?
A few weeks ago the company I work for created a website called Nabceptraining.com in hopes to find clientele who are looking to become NABCEP Certified. So we installed WordPress and a nice looking theme that we edited, and we saw that without any real content on the page we were already rank 12 on Google! We never even submitted our site. So we decided to Search Engine Optimize our website to gain even better rankings. So on the first day we added an SEO Tool that would allow us to change the page titles and descriptions on our site, a Sitemap generation tool so we could submit the site to Google, Bing, and Yahoo. At the end of the day we submitted the site and was beginning to create our content. That next morning our ranking was gone and we were not to be found on Google, but we were rank 3 on Bing!? What happened? Why did we disappear? We didn't receive any messages from Google on the webmaster tools saying we were blacklisted. Does anyone have an idea?

Google's "cache:" operator is returning a 404 error.
I'm doing the "cache:" operator on one of my sites and Google is returning a 404 error. I've swapped out the domain with another and it works fine. Has anyone seen this before? I'm wondering if G is crawling the site now? Thx!

Should we redirect 404 errrors seen in webmaster tools with ... (dot.dot, dot) ?
Lately I have seen lots of 404 errors showing in webmaster tools that are not really links. Many of them from shammy pages. (I did not put them there) One of the most common types is ones that show the link ending in ... ( dot, dot, dot) The appearance of the link is being sent from pages like this http://www.the-pick.com/00_fahrenheit,2.html For example a link like this would show up in webmaster tools as a 404 error. http://www.ehow.com/how_2352088_easily-... Are these worth redirecting? So far I have redirected some of them and found that is was not helpful and possibly harmful. Anyone else had the same experience? Also getting lots of partial urls showing up from pages that reference my site but the url is cut off and the link is not active. Does Google really count these as links? Is redirecting a link from a spammy page acknowledging acceptance and could it count against you?

Google Penalty?
Hi, I have recently been asked to help www.mycanvas.ie I have a feeling they have a google penalty. All their Google Keywords have literally dropped out of the Google SERP but they are still shown on Yahoo SERP. I recently did a site:www.mycanvas.ie and the pages are still in google index. The only thing that comes to mind is that the site owner submitted to 380 web directories over a period of 2 months with http://www.directorymaximizer.com/ do you think this could be causing the problem with google? Advise and suggestions are welcomed, thank you.

Google Fresh Update
Here's a question, if you put the date in your url (often a wordpress format) would that be seen by Google now as 'fresh' content? - part of their new update.
