Name Change in Google Places
-
In the middle of a nightmare in Google Places. Dealing with a number of Chiropractic franchises. They all had previous practices (and Places listings). In many cases, a duplicate listing was created. Some locations are "under review", others have lost their ranking and a few are ranking for both location in the 7 pack.(usually because they had a different phone number used so I assume Google sees it as a separate company despite the same location)
I am trying to fix all these duplicate or near duplicate listings that were created previously. In one case I edited the existing listing and tried to verify by phone. I got the 5 digit code but Google then said code is not valid.
Has anyone been through a similar situation? Should I delete/deactivate old listing and Then optimize the remaining or vice versa? A complete mess. In some cases they may have four listings...old company, new franchise and new name, Doctors names.
Any insight appreciated.

Been there. Done that. No easy answers. Pursue all available remedies. Resign yourself to the fact that nothing may work, and you may have to start over.

Kevin, there was a recent YOUmoz post about how to delete a Google Places listing. Let me know if this helps. http://www.seomoz.org/ugc/the-right-way-to-delete-a-google-places-listing

Kevin,
I have had more success than failures with report a problem. Just make sure you are logged in when you report it. And, the squeaky wheel gets the grease.
-
A mess indeed. I do have access to almost all the accounts. Have not tried "report a problem" as it seemed that was a dead end from what I read. Worth a try I guess.....especially for the poor soul who is UNDER REVIEW" and has been for months. All because someone did not know what they were doing. (other than trying to bill clients) I hate the snake oil sellers in this business. Hurts us all.

Ei Yi Yi. That is a mess.
I have delt with many duplicate listing issues. Here is what I would do in your case. Go to the Google places help forum. List your issue with as many details as possible and hope you get the attention of a google employee.
Q. Do you have access to all these accounts? Passwords? Have you used the Report a problem feature under the more tab on the places account? Make sure you are logged into the account when doing so.
Be very detailed when you report the problem in this manner.
Duplicate listing issues are heck. I hope this help some.

Best way to manage multiple Google My Business accounts as a marketing agency?
As marketing agency we have for each client a Google My Business account. This means that we have more than 100 Google My Business accounts. We know that GA has a limit of 100 analytics accounts (free version), but is there a limit in Google My Business too? For now, we have created multiple accounts that own different Google My Business accounts of our clients. Can I just change all the different e-mail accounts of our marketing agency and change it to one? So we can manage all the Google My Business accounts of our clients in one e-mail account?

Business with Google + Business Page not showing with map
Hi I set up a Google + business Page for a client and we claimed their address (it shows in the Google Maps page fine. The page has been created for a while now but when you search for this business it does not show the map to the right? Any thoughts? BTW we have two locations and both have separate pages - thought this could be the issue but then when I added the business name + the location still not showing.

Changing Web Address
What would be the best way to change a web address without loosing google rankings? Currently we have whosjack.org and wjlondon.com redirecting to that address. We want to switch that around but I am aware that this will change all the links. Is there any way to do this without killing our site rankings?

Changing to a cdn
Hi everybody, we want to implement a cdn and I am not sure about, how to handle to old image-Urls. We move all our product-Images to one or more cdn hosts, while the old host (and the old image-urls, which are indexed very well) will stay alive, so I do worry about that dc-thing.... What would be the best way to handle this? Sending Canonicals for the images? Redirects? Or nothing to worry about ? Thanx and all the best from here Hubert

Strange behaviour at google places
Hello Seomoz! I have strange behaviour at google places with one company. I have submitted company Air Condition SPB to goole places and it was on the 13th page at google places (keyword "продажа кондиционеров Санкт-Петербург"), and after some days it disappeared from google places at all for that keyword and many others. After that I did changes in company name at google places and that company appeared at google places again. And I was watching this strange behaviour at google places for that company many times. Could you tell me what can cause that strange behaviour? Thank You, Dmitri

Optimizing Google Places Listing - Please Help!
I claimed the Google Places listing a few months ago - added a description and all the necessary information. Finally got the page to show up in the places category on the 5th page for the search "vet las vegas". Then on some computers it likes to show up on the 8th page and on others the 5th page - weird!?. I need some help on the following: How can I get Google to put my website as an link in the "More About This Place"/citation section? The old website which was at a different domain is present but not the new one (the new one has been live for 2 months). -Am I missing any key information to help with my ranking? The 8th page is a pretty poor ranking and holds no value whatsoever. The description I typed out on Google Places does not display in the search results. - I am assuming adding citations is essentially just about adding backlinks that Google can pull to add to the "More About This Place" section - any surefire ways to get more citations there? Multi-site listings in Google Local/Place pages
I've had problems with a client that is a local medical center with multiple sites/addresses. We've created a Place Page for each location and linked it to the location page on the client's website that matches the address on the Place page. But that means we're not linking to the medical center's home page -- and Google Places doesn't like that. I know this because after we'd owner-verified each Place Page, Google went in and just changed the website link that was a deep link to a location page and replaced it with a link to the home page. But now there's not an address match. How should we handle this? Related question: Does it make sense to claim a separate listing in Yelp and other local directories for each of the separate locations since they each have a unique address? Will Yelp & other local directories allow for links to non-home pages on the client's website?
