How do you determine how much a link is worth?
-
Obviously things like Mozrank, domain authority, relevancy signals, authority signals, and other fundamentals are a great starting ground, but I was wondering how people put value on a links. How much time is a link from a page rank of x or a moz rank of y worth. How much time, money (not in terms of paid links, but in terms of manpower, copyrighting required, etc.) is a link of a certain rank worth.
Obviously there is no exact answer to this question, but I'm very curious to see what people have to say in this regard.

I got by # of visits, interaction on the site + and on its social network sites - by both themselves and by readers/visitors.
and how often the blog or resources are updated.

Yeh, I agree with EGOL.
Another thing to consider is checking out your competitors profile. Say they have 100 links, and 10 are noticeable better (higher DA, PA, relevancy etc) it would obviously make more sense to spend more time on those 10, and in fact you may not want to spend any time on the lower quality links (i.e. you don't want them).
But yes, for the points EGOL mentioned its not a simple question to answer.

Depends what you can do with it..
If you have an ecommerce site selling high value items with a great conversion rate and very high customer lifetime value that link will be worth 4x as much to you as the guy with 1/2 your conversion rate and 1/2 your profit margin.
The link might be worth even less to someone running an adsense site on a noncommercial topic.
Also, it depends upon the maturity of your website. If you have a new site with very few links then a new link can be kickass. However, if your site is established with thousands of links then one more will not have a dramatic effect - unless it is a valuable link that hits a relatively new content page.

Inbound link cleanup and management
Hey guys this is my first time asking a question here but I have been lurking for a while now and have learned a lot here. I have to come up with a plan to go through, analyze, and clean up the existing backlinks for 37 root domains. That to me makes manually looking through the stack one at a time impossible. Obviously there are some great tools and I currently have Moz tools and Raven available to me but am open to acquire something different as well if it makes sense. My questions are: 1. Do I need to worry about nofollow links at all? Should I just separate them out right off the top and be done with that? 2. What ways have you all accomplished this task? Are there any time sucking pitfalls to avoid? Any insight would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance this site truly has been a blessing to me!

I am trying to find inbound links for one of my site urls. My question is does SEOMoz able to track all internal links as the Open Site Explorer shows 0 internal links?
It shows 0 internal links when I am pretty sure we have multiple internal links.Should we use absolute urls or relative urls for internal links?

How reliable are the external link metrics found in the Open Site Explorer research tool?
I have noticed huge discrepancies with the external link metrics of one of the websites that I have been tracking since the launch of the website. Shortly after launch I captured a screenshot of the external link metrics to the website to track the progress. As I look at the same Open Site Explorer metrics now (2 months later) it has increased by 900% which is very inconsistent with the amount of link building done for the client. Thanks!

How can I recognize spammy links that harm my website
Hello, Can someone tell me how I can recognize links that can harm my website? I have OpenSiteExplorer and CognitiveSEO as tools to create nice backlinking reports for me. But my problem is, how do I know if a link shown on these reports can harm my website so I can remove them? Is it linktypes, low auth. links etc? Thank you for your answers in advance! Regards, Thomas

Why is the crawler following form action links?
I have an issue with one of my sites where the SEOMoz crawler is following some form action links. It is my understanding that the crawler will ignore these links. Why would it not be ignoring them in certain cases. If you need more detail, please ask. Thanks.

Why aren't DMOZ links showing up in Open Site Explorer?
I have a page that is listed in DMOZ.org, but when I run an OSE Link Analysis, that link doesn't show up. I'm currently doing the free trial for SEOMoz Pro and I'm concerned that other links might not be showing up as well. Has anyone had any similar experiences and/or do you know why DMOZ links specifically might not appear in the results?
