Certain Domains no longer recognised by open site explorer
-
Afternoon everyone (well, it is for me),
We've been tracking the linking root domains to our domain for around 6 months now, alongside tracking these domains we have also been engaging in linking building activities. Our initial activities worked quite well with linking domains rising from around 620 to 720 in 3 months.
However, recently we have seen those numbers begin to fall away, in many cases it is because certain domains have stopped linking to us, have become no=follow sites or have been archived. But, in some cases we can see the link is still there, and is being registered by other tools such as yahoo or webmaster tools.
My question is really, does anyone have a way of working out why a link, that was in the past being registered by open site explorer, is no longer registering and presumably no longer passing over juice to help with domain authority. What kind of signals should i be looking for to tackle a 'decaying' link?
Looking forward to hear your thoughts!

Thanks for your thoughts.
Having looked into it, we've got 10 linking root domains which used to register through SEOmoz but are no longer doing so whose domain authority is above 70. This would suggest that they are still important enough to be crawled, however I guess I would need to get the PA of the linking pages that have been lost incase they are less important pages on large domains.
I'll keep this question updated with anything else that comes up.

I personally doubt these links (or any links for that matter) are 'decaying'.
Knowing that SEOmoz only crawls a portion (however large, but still a portion) of the pages on the web, these pages that were once showing up containing your links, may simply not be crawled anymore due to being 'not important enough'.
To either strengthen or break the theory above: are these 'decaying' links coming from authorative / strong domains or from weaker domains that could possibly be fallen out of the crawling range of the SEOmoz crawler?

Opensite Explorer
It may sound like a stupid question but what kind of likes and shares is Opensite Explorer referring at? Is it just how much your page gets liked and shared or about the posts on FB?

Domain / Page Authority - logarithmic
SEOmoz says their Domain / Page Authority is logarithmic, meaning that lower rankings are easier to get, higher rankings harder to get. Makes sense. But does anyone know what logarithmic equation they use? I'm using the domain and page authority as one metric in amongst other metrics in my keyword analysis. I can't have some metrics linear, others exponential and the SEOmoz one logarithmic.

Comparing with Open Site Explorer
Hi, I am trying to compare a website that has a url of e.g. https://mysite.com on Open Site Explorer. Any idea how to do this? It will only compare it when I use www and it also doesn't accept https. So I am comparing www.mysite.com which has redirects on it https://mysite.com but I am worried it's not comparing the right stats? If this makes sense and you can help it would be greatly appreciated. Cheers

Is there anything I can do to solve this problem?
For example my site has some backlinks but are not displayed, the same goes for internal links. (On webmaster tools, I can see the backlinks) Thanks in advance for the answer Andrea0 -
How can authority of the page be higher then authority of the domain?
In the opensite explorer most of the links that I see have a higher domain authority and lower page authority which makes sense to me because I thought that domain authority is an aggregate of its pages authority. But apperently I was wrong because sometimes I see that the page authority is greater then its domain? How could that be?

Falling Domain Authority
What are the factors that would cause my domain authority to fall? As best I understand it, we would have to be losing links. For example, one of my clients started with a DA around 60 and now 4 months on it is sitting around 47. This has happened with a couple clients and I'm not really sure why or how to counteract it.
