External link numbers down year on year
-
Hi,
Just wondering if anyone knows why a website that has definitely had some links acquired over the last year would now show less links and from fewer referring domains than they had this time last year? How is that possible - assume it is down to the way OSE / Moz crawl the web and collect data but need a definitive explanation for a client that has noticed the drop in link metrics and as a result authority.
Many thanks,
-
Have you tried more than one tool to verify they are indeed not showing up? Try a few other backlink watching tools, just to double check. Raven tools has a great link checker, as does Ahrefs.
Visit the actual page where your links were supposed to be placed, to see if they are still present, and inspect the link to verify it is "followed", and not a "no-follow"
Also, were the links that were acquired paid links? Could be that the linking site got hit with a penalty. This is all just speculation, based upon what you have said here. I would do a bit more research, to try and see if the links were truly removed, if they are followed, or if it's just not showing up in MOZ's link crawler.

How to download full list of internal links properly with OSE?
Hi Moz Community, I am having issues getting a full list of my internal links when I go to the Open Site Explorer. When I export the internal links into excel, I am getting half of my URLs and 80% of what I am getting is absolutely crazy URLs that are super super old. Plus, these old URLs are not even showing in my campaign crawls. So the crawls themselves are different. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated, since I am trying to get a full picture on the internal link structure of my site. Thanks!

Flauctuating number of Internal Equity-Passing Links affecting DA
My site has a high number of fluctuating internal equity passing links in open site explorer from month to month, theses range from 30 000 and sometimes as high as 1,million. The fluctuations occur even when I have made no changes onsite. I have noticed that when the internal equity passing links are very high the DA drops and when they are low the DA is high, has anyone ever experienced this with open site explorer ?

What happened to my links in Open Site Explorer.
Hello, A while ago I had a problem with open site explorer saying that I had a problems with redirects on my home page. There was 302 redirect and it was giving me information from my www domain rather then from non www domain. With your awesome help, this issue is sorted now and when I type in my non www domain, it doesn't give me that weird message anymore. I have a different issue now. For some reason when I enter non www domain it doesn't show links from www version. I presume that this is affecting my site authority for non www version. Does it mean that link juice was not passed on to non www version from www version? Authority dropped by two points, but I'm not sure why. I'm more interested to know why it doesn't show my links from www version on non www version. And is that affecting my sites rankings. Thank you, Regards, Armands

Difference between Link Analysis and open site explorer
Hey, when i check my links in Link Analysis in Moz Analytics is see 45 Linking Root Domains. The manual states: " If you want to look at these pages in more depth, just click the export button. This will take you to Open Site Explorer so you can dig deeper into your link profile and export the data for review later." But when i go there, the open site explorer states i only have 31 Linking Domains. What could explain the difference?

Just Discovered Links not appearing in main index
Hi Around October, November (and ongoing since then) we had some links appear in the "just discovered" index of OSE, and yet they've never made it into the main list of domains linking to the website. We have amassed quite a few links from various domains that seem to get picked up in "Just Discovered", but not by the standard list of links to our site Is there any reason for this?

Need advice on creating link report
I am trying to create a new report that will show the effectiveness of each link source in terms of delivering traffic and how quality that traffic is with regard to conversions.... With that, I want to know how I can first get a list of all external links to any page on my subdomain and then align that list with traffic/conversion data in Google Analytics. Can someone provide me step by step instructions on this? I assume I would start with Open Site Explorer and export the list of external links to pages on my subdomain. My issue lies in how to get the same general list out of GA that lines up with the urls in the OSE export. I have tried referrals, but that does not give me a compatible list.

External Followed Links report
I would like to know, how do I get a report with the TOTAL amount of my external followed links. When I look on "Link Metric" it shows me: External Followed Links 2,951 But when I looked on Inbound links (only follow / only external), it shows me only 645. Why is that and how do I get the total from 2.951? Thanks
