Moz Local and NAP
-
Hi, I go to moz local and i get 4 listings and is shows 2 as verified:
Verified
Northumberland Ave, Bury Saint Edmunds,Verified
Northumberland Avenue, Bury St Edmunds,Both of them tell me I have 13% inconsistency and the two words that are underlined in red as inconsistent are:
Ave, SaintMy google places has it listed as:
Northumberland Ave
Bury St EdmundsMy website and 4 of the 11 listings have it as:
Northumberland Avenue, Bury St. EdmundsThe other 7 listings have it as:
Northumberland Avenue, Bury St. EdmundsIs this a problem do you think these very slight inconsistencies matter? If so should they all match what google places says the address is (I did try changing this from Ave to Avenue on google places but it wouldn't change)?

You should be good Steve, That's a minor issue.

Great thanks for all that.
Another quick related question, one of my clients has a lot of old citations as
"company name gymnasium"
but all his new citations are
"company name gym"
the NAP on all of them is the same though, do you think that's fine too?

Hey Steve,
I'm the Engineering manager for Moz Local and wanted to follow up on your question. We are working to address a couple issues specifically for UK listings in the next week or two:
1. Address verification: We are working to improve our UK address parsing and normalization which should address a number of issues around being able to purchase listings.
2. Address comparison. As Matt mentioned, the slight inconsistencies you are seeing do not have any signification effect and we are working to account for them. Note that the address inconsistencies displayed in the listing report do not affect our measurement of accuracy for a particular partner in the Moz Local dashboard.
Cheers.

Hi Steve!
I've spoken to one of our Moz Local engineers about this, and they're actually working on a fix right now. We're hoping to have a fix out in the next couple weeks.
In the meantime, he assures me that these very slight inconsistencies are not a problem.
Does that help?

Hello Steve,
The address formatting of your citations does not need to be 100% consistent everywhere. Let me say that it is SUPER important that you are consistent with your citations, but you do not need to worry about minor discrepancies like Street and St or in this case Ave, Saint. Google will normalize the addresses it finds around the web to a standard version before trying to associate it with your business in the local cluster. Here is a link that can explain this phenomenon way better than I ever could; Google Normalize NAP Data. Also, here is a tool that will help you identify what kind of discrepancies with you are having normalizing to your correct address: Address Validation Tool.
I hope this helps!

Disconnect MOZ Local and Google My Business
I've had problems with one of our eight branch locations when I connected GMB to Moz Local about a year ago. The location was suspended for being a duplicate. I would like to sever the connection so I could keep Moz Local live but at least temporarily delete the suspended Google My Business. Also, if you might have any guides or tutorials on performing this task it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Local Help! Google+ Accounts for New Brand & Service Sites
Hi Mozzers! I have a lot of knowledge in local search, G+ page setup/optimization, etc, etc... However, I'm about to begin a business based around "home services". The brand will be ABC Home Services as the umbrella. Then under it will be the individual services like "ABC Carpet Cleaning" "ABC Roofing", etc... Each service will have it's own website for optimization purposes and local search authority building as well as the services will be developed over the course of a couple years ie: carpet cleaning would go up 1st, then the next service and so on... I have purchased all of the domains I want for the services to focus on. What do you recommend I do in terms of setting up Gmail accounts/G+ accounts? Individual service related Gmail accounts and have a main "ABC Home Services" Google account and then add in the service G+ pages over time? I'm open to any questions, but trying to make this the most efficient for me and my team and also the best if can be for local optimization goals and criteria. Thank you! - Patrick

How to change your location for local search results?
Hi Everybody Back in december 2015 I came across this article https://gofishdigital.com/google-results-change-location/ explaining how to change location for local search results using the google emulation tool by setting up new coordinates. This was also picked up by mikeblumenthals' blog as being one of the best way of doing this. I tried it at the time and it worked very well. I tried using it last week and again this week but my location no longer seems to update. I have tried it on fifferent computers located in different locations and still it doesn't work. Does anyone know if this feature is no longer available and if not what else they'd recommend to verify local search results. Thanks

Moving Locations and NAP
Hello, I am the new IT guy for a business that is moving. They have a ton of old NAP stuff for like 3 offices that they are no longer at and to be honest, the entire NAP is just a total chaotic mess. They did not keep a record of the accounts used to make the listings or anything of the sort. Now they want me to fix it all up. Does anyone have any suggestions on techniques for doing this? Is there a way to get these out of date listings closed or do I just simply make all new ones that are correct? Or is there something I am not thinking of? Thanks.

In 2015, How Important is having a Local IP address (rather than a cheaper hosting overseas)?
Looking to move several sites from my current hosting provider, and am considering moving them to cheaper, overseas hosting providers. What's the current thinking of how this will impact local SEO results?

Google Local Feeds - Cover & Profile Photos??
Hello - I am trying to help a biz w several dozen locations with their Google+ local pages. However, I'm not sure automation is the best solution: https://support.google.com/business/answer/3370250?hl=en In particular: Can you stipulate a Cover Photo and Profile Photo via Google's automated feeds? I see that you can add "images", but not much more than that. Do we have to manually upload cover photo/avatar info? If it turns out we have to, IMHO would be totally worth it even if time-consuming, but just trying to figure out the balance between automation vs manual factors.

Combining Law websites to boost local results?
So we currently have 2 separate websites for the 2 areas of law we practice, Criminal Defense and Family. Currently our Criminal Defense website is the one affiliated with our google+ page and so it ranks well in local results, where as our Family website does not rank at all locally. Would it be best for our Family practice if we merged it with our Criminal site? We all work out of the same office and share address and phone number, so I don't believe we can associate the Family website with a google+ page, but I am wondering if each site would show up in Local results for their individual keywords if the criminal site and law site were both subdomains of a main Firm website.
