Should I use https schema markup after http-https migration?
-
Dear Moz community,
Noticed that several groups of websites after HTTP -> HTTPS migration update their schema markup from, example :
{
"@context": "http://schema.org",
"@type": "WebSite",
"name": "Your WebSite Name",
"alternateName": "An alternative name for your WebSite",
"url": "http://www.your-site.com"
}becomes
{
"@context": "https://schema.org",
"@type": "WebSite",
"name": "Your WebSite Name",
"alternateName": "An alternative name for your WebSite",
"url": "https://www.example.com"
}Interesting to know, because Moz website is on https protocol but uses http version of markup. Looking forward for answers

Thank you very much for the answer.

Thanks for your great question!
Schema.org has stated that using either is fine. Here is their longer form answer from their FAQ page on which to use:
"There is a general trend towards using
'https'
more widely, and you can already write'https://schema.org'
in your structured data. Over time we will migrate the schema.org site itself towards usinghttps:
as the default version of the site and our preferred form in examples. However 'http://schema.org' -based URLs in structured data markup will remain widely understood for the forseeable future and there should be no urgency about migrating existing data. This is a lengthy way of saying that both'https://schema.org'
and'http://schema.org'
are fine."That being said...I think I'll go switch Moz.com to https now. Think they will keep http:// around for a while, though. Especially considering SEOs who implemented Schema before https and G doesn't want to penalize site owners for not knowing any better? <- My personal thoughts on this.
Thanks again!

Is it necessary to use Google's Structured Data Markup or alternative for my B2B site?
Hi, We are in the process of going through a re-design for our site. Am trying to understand if we need to use some sort of structured data either from Google Structured data or schema. org?

How to optimize an ecommerce catalog that uses parameters only
Hello ! I am facing a problem concerning a client's website that has been developped using filters that create parameters - there are no categories. This means that, no matter what I choose as a filter, the page title, desc and my H1 stays the same. In a beautiful, unicorn rainbow filled world - I could just tell them to restructure their site with new categories/sub categories AND with filters. For SEO purposes and to find a temporary solution until we can change the architecture, what would be the best choice? Should we create individual pages that serves the same content as the catalog, but with rewritten URL, Title, Description and canonical?
Intermediate & Advanced SEO | | Charles-O
ie: http:/domain.com/catalog/?brand=moz canonical to http:/domain.com/catalog/brand/moz ? I noticed indeed.com does that (https://ca.indeed.com/SEO-Specialist-jobs vs https://ca.indeed.com/jobs?q=SEO+Specialist&l=) Should we dynamise the content depending on which filters has been selected? Of course, some filters are real filters that wouldn't attract or add any value (such as order by) Thanks for your input!0 -
Moving from http to https: image duplicate issue?
Hello everyone, We have recently moved our entire website virtualsheetmusic.com from http:// to https:// and now we are facing a question about images. Here is the deal: All webpages URLs are properly redirected to their corresponding https if they are called from former http links. Whereas, due to compatibility issues, all images URLs can be called either via http or https, so that any of the following URLs work without any redirect: http://www.virtualsheetmusic.com/images/icons/ResponsiveLogo.png https://www.virtualsheetmusic.com/images/icons/ResponsiveLogo.png Please note though that all internal links are relative and not absolute. So, my question is: Can that be a problem from the SEO stand point? In particular: We have thousands of images indexed on Google, mostly images related to our digital sheet music preview image files, and many of them are ranking pretty well in the image pack search results. Could this change be detrimental in some way? Or doesn't make any difference in the eyes of Google? As I wrote above, all internal links are relative, so an image tag like this one: Hasn't changed at all, it is just loaded in a https context. I'll wait for your thoughts on this. Thank you in advance!

When do you use article markup for AMP pages?
Hi all! For a healthcare website we have setup AMP. Google Search Console suggests to use article markup for several pages and I am not sure if this is correct. There are two kind of pages:
Intermediate & Advanced SEO | | DeptAgency
1. News pages
2. Information pages, for example: symptoms alcohol addiction or Binge Eating Disorder There's no doubt the article markup will be correct for the news pages but I am not sure about the information pages. Do you guys suggest to implement article markup on these pages as well or only use this for real news/blog posts? Hope you can help me out. Thank you in advance and happy holidays! Benefits/drawbacks to different Schema markup languages (ie. JSON-LD, Microdata, RDFa)
Just a question (or questions) I have wondered about. What's the difference, besides the actual encoding, between the three? Why have three? Why not just the one? Seems to me that Microdata is the easiest, but maybe I am wrong. Is there a reason to use one versus another? I have not found anything explaining this on schema.org - I suppose this is just a discussion versus getting one right or wrong answer. I am just curious of the opinions of people in the SEO MOZ community. Unless of course there is one answer. I'll take that too.

Hreflang doubt use correctly
Hello,I have a question, I want to know which option is best for implementing a multi languages. We have a client whose website will have English and Spanish languages, both languages have the same content but English we focus on the US and UK, and Spanish only for the country Spain, the question arises what is the correct nomenclature we use or would it be the best value.**Option 1:****Option 2:**Or any of the two options is correct What would be the correct ?. Another question, if a German user is in Spain, and do a search on (Google Spain), what will be the best option that should be implemented, / is-de / or single / de /, which one will position before ( provided that the statement I is correct). A greeting and thanks.

Schema.org Organization Logo markup
Hi Guys, Does anyone have an example of a site using schema.org Organization logo markup (as per: http://googlewebmastercentral.blogspot.com.au/2013/05/using-schemaorg-markup-for-organization.html), with the logo appearing in Google SERPs? One of the designers is pressing me ofr an example. I've found plenty of brands getting their logo in the SERPs knoweldge base results, but they have all been using G+ verified company profiles, or other methods (Googs simply selecting a best fit?) to achieve it. Thx!

Migrating a site
Hello, I have what a I think it's a noob question.. I have a medium size website and need to put it into maintenance for the next 2 months, and afterwards activate a completly new site. My client asked me to do this, cause the same people whoe run the constant flow of information on the site, are the ones who are going to develop the new site, so he wants to just close it out So... what are the steps for doing this with minimum impact on any SEO advances made this past months?.. How do I tell the search engines, Hey, just under maintenance for a while....then... i'm back in the game but this is my new structure. and the old one should go here
