Indexing of flash files
-
When Google indexes a flash file, do they use a library for such a purpose ? What set me thinking was this blog post ( although old ) which states -
"we expanded our SWF indexing capabilities thanks to our continued collaboration with Adobe and a new library that is more robust and compatible with features supported by Flash Player 10.1."
-
Seriously you should be looking forward to my blog post (currently they need to review it for technical accuracy, which may take some time) but it is a post about how to make your Flash website as SEO friendly as possible...but until then I can only tell you, "Even the good-old HTML , we need A LOT of optimization to make it PERFECT for indexing..." , i have tried so many ways to make my Full Flash website SEO friendly, and let me tell you, none of them are as powerful as any optimized HTML page
That is why in my blog post here, I am going to explain how to make your Flash website as SEO friendly as those normal optimized HTML page (and it really works)
Hopefuly the blog post is approved in time

It's not something for the faint of heart you need to know how to program some server side language and javascript. But armed with that knowledge (or a good front end developer) you should be able to do it. For more technical bable on making a snapshot see this page (not that it's talking about ajax and not what I mentioned but the technique is the same)
http://code.google.com/web/ajaxcrawling/docs/html-snapshot.html
I spoke about this subject in a previous thread, but basically you need to make a HTML5 website and check the browser for html5 support, if support is present show the site, if not show a flash version.

Thanks for clarification.
"HTML5 snapshot of the site, and serve this to google" How can we do this ? Can you please elaborate
-
what they are saying is that they are working with adobe to make the google bot better at crawling flash sites. but I would refer to googles help pages on this subject. On the other hand I would make a HTML5 snapshot of the site, and serve this to google and to iPad/iPhone users. that way you'll make google happy and not use the i-Phone/pad people.
But yes there are technologies out there, that you can use to help google crawl your site. But my guess is that they are doing exactly what I mentioned above (just only for google).

URLs dropping from index (Crawled, currently not indexed)
I've noticed that some of our URLs have recently dropped completely out of Google's index. When carrying out a URL inspection in GSC, it comes up with 'Crawled, currently not indexed'. Strangely, I've also noticed that under referring page it says 'None detected', which is definitely not the case. I wonder if it could be something to do with the following? https://www.seroundtable.com/google-ranking-index-drop-30192.html - It seems to be a bug affecting quite a few people. Here are a few examples of the URLs that have gone missing: https://www.ihasco.co.uk/courses/detail/sexual-harassment-awareness-training https://www.ihasco.co.uk/courses/detail/conflict-resolution-training https://www.ihasco.co.uk/courses/detail/prevent-duty-training Any help here would be massively appreciated!

My Website stopped being in the Google Index
Hi there, So My website is two weeks old, and I published it and it was ranking at about page 10 or 11 for a week maybe a bit longer. The last few days it dropped off the rankings, which I assumed was the google algorithm doing its thing but when I checked Google Search Console it says my domain is not in the index. 'This page is not in the index, but not because of an error. See the details below to learn why it wasn't indexed.' I click request indexing, then after a bit, it goes green saying it was successfully indexed. Then when I refresh the website it gives me the same message 'This page is not in the index, but not because of an error. See the details below to learn why it wasn't indexed.' Not sure why it says this, any ideas or help is appreciated cheers.

Canonical vs 301 for index.php
Hello, we found recently quite a big error our index.php file had no canonical tag nor was a 301 redirect. So we put a canonical tag to it that it's the main www.examle.com duplicate . Now is there any difference in regards to link juice or Google 301 vs canonical tag ? I read that moz did a 301 from their index php. I understand one difference is that user then can Type in the URL if no 301, but I'm interested about ranking effect of it.

Pages Not Getting Indexed
Hey there I have a website with pretty much 3-4 pages. All of them had a canonical pointing to one page and the same content ( which happened by mistake ) I removed the canonical URL and added one pointing to its page. Also, I added the original content that was supposed to be there to begin with. It's been weeks but those pages are not getting indexed on the SERPS while the one that they use to point with the canonical does.

Page missing from Google index
Hi all, One of our most important pages seems to be missing from the Google index. A number of our collections pages (e.g., http://perfectlinens.com/collections/size-king) are thin, so we've included a canonical reference in all of them to the main collection page (http://perfectlinens.com/collections/all). However, I don't see the main collection page in any Google search result. When I search using "info:http://perfectlinens.com/collections/all", the page displayed is our homepage. Why is this happening? The main collection page has a rel=canonical reference to itself (auto-generated by Shopify so I can't control that). Thanks! WUKeBVB

Pages removed from Google index?
Hi All, I had around 2,300 pages in the google index until a week ago. The index removed a load and left me with 152 submitted, 152 indexed? I have just re-submitted my sitemap and will wait to see what happens. Any idea why it has done this? I have seen a drop in my rankings since. Thanks

File name same as folder name, ok?
Is it ok to have a folder and file name to be both the same e.g domain.com/xyz-products/ domain.com/xyz-products.php File name would be a page that lists a number of products and then within the folder there would be x-product.php, y-product.php etc
