Locate your Competitors Traffic Sources -SEO related sources - vs. other sources.
-
Is there a tool out there that will help you locate your competitors traffic sources?
I would like to see how much of their traffic is coming from SEO related sources - vs. other sources.
I know compete will do this - but they are ungodly expensive.
Thanks!

Anybody else out there? I too have found these tools to be unreliable....
-
sorry missed the word "competitors"
-
Those are the tools I was thinking of, but it is hard to recommend them since they are typically wrong. Again just run them on your own website and look how skewed the results are.

Something tells me that his competition is not going to give him access to their Analytics.
But if they do - Alan is correct...

google analytics will tell you where each request has come from

www.ispionage.com gives away some data for free -- enter a domain and then it shows you a summary of how much they think that site is spending on PPC, what their ads are, who else is competing for those same keywords with PPC, then some SEO stuff like what words they rank for on each of the major engines, and who they think the domain's competitors are.
For traffic you could use www.compete.com (use 'site profile' tab), or maybe www.alexa.com to get a relative sense of how one site's traffic compares to anothers.
Then you can combine the two -- use compete.com's traffic along with ispionage's estimate of PPC spend and you can get a sense for how much of their traffic is purchased vs free.
http://www.spyfu.com if fun to play around with, too, to analyze your competitor's PPC.

Can anyone name some of these tools?
-
Short answer: No
Longer answer: There are quite a few 'tools' out there, but they just provide an estimate or guess. Some of them have free versions that give a few example domains that send traffic. I've never seen them actually show anything that matched my actual Analytics.
Ohter answer: Forget the competition and focus on your site. Destroy them in rankings and PPC.. No more worrying about the competition.

Bing result title is displaying a competitors name
When searching "Cambridge Savings Bank" which is the specific name of a bank in Bing the search results return with them as Number one with the correct URL. The issue is Bing has titled the search result "East Cambridge Savings Bank" (which is another entity all together) and still has the correct www.cambridgesavings.com URL. So basically Bing is putting another corporation's name on our website. This issue only is in Bing. Any idea how to correct this? 2.png 1.png

Organic Traffic Decrease WOW and YOY sitewide
My site is experiencing a decrease in organic traffic WOW for the last two weeks and for the first time all year is showing a decrease compared to last year's traffic for the same weeks. At first I thought this was a seasonal pattern due to spring break (we are mostly b to b), but the dip has sustained for another week. The only changes made during this time period were a few on-page updates and some title tag updates to a specific group of pages. However, the decrease is sitewide including branded clicks and impressions. I haven't noticed any changes in rankings. Impressions and clicks are down per Search Console, but CTR and Avg Rank haven't changed. Is it possible that we've been penalized or hit by an algo shift? What's the best way to know for sure? Event Schema markup for multiple events (same location/address)?
I was wondering if its possible to markup multiple events on the same page for one location/address using the event schema.org markup? I tried doing it on a sample page below: http://www.rama.id.au/event-schema-test/ Google's schema testing tool shows that its all good (except for warning for offers). Just wanted to know if I am doing it correctly or is there a better solution. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you 🙂

Traffic and impressions down
I am confused on what is going on. I recently converted my website to wordpress. I kept the same url structure to the best of my abilities (without the .html) and 301 all .html to / So whatever was www.domain.com/page.html to www.domain.com/page/ The old CMS was a proprietary cms done by the company who originally designed the website. It was poorly put together and was really buggy. I decided to move to wordpress due to many limitations particularly for SEO. Now traffic is down about 10% and looks like the downward trend will continue, also, impressions are down by about 75%. Any thoughts on what could be happening?

301s vs. rel=canonical for duplicate content across domains
Howdy mozzers, I just took on a telecommunications client who has spent the last few years acquiring smaller communications companies. When they took over these companies, they simply duplicated their site at all the old domains, resulting in a bunch of sites across the web with the exact same content. Obviously I'd like them all 301'd to their main site, but I'm getting push back. Am I OK to simply plug in rel=canonical tags across the duplicate sites? All the content is literally exactly the same. Thanks as always

Secure Vs Non-Secure Redirects
I have a client who has a lot of duplicate pages on their site. The pages are secure and then non secure counterparts. Not sure why they have this in place but i recomended that they redirect on to the other or vice versa using 301 redirects. I am getting some questions as to why they should do this. Does anyone have a good document outlining the reasoning behind this? For me its just a matter of cleaning up duplicate content but wondering if there is any technical data out there.

404 page for webshop vs 302 redirect
Hi everybody Im the owner of a webshop and we have implemented that products that are not instock are disabled from the shop. My problem is that i have a lot of 404 pages, that right now get redirected to the front page, when the item are not instock. This is because it would hurt the conversion rate if they got a standard 404 page. Customers dont know what a 404 and would click back and choose another competitor. Its really hard to find out what are the best solution and what are not a downrank at google. This has been running like this for 2 years and cant see any negative in the solution regarding seo and so on, What are your thoughts? Christian Hansen Denmark

Server located in Canada but site is for local business in Pennsylvania
My friend's website is for a local business in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania but the MOZbar shows that his server is located in Canada. Will this be detrimental to his SERP rankings? The site was just launched a week ago. I saw various opinions in other forums and I could not find similar questions in this forum. Thanks in advance. -Dan
