Do you think video syndication is a good link building tactic?
-
I am creating a process & strategy for publishing videos and would like some feedback on if it is worth syndicating the videos on multiple third party sites either manually or via TubeMogul.
Currently the plan is to put the video on our main site, create a video sitemap, submit to webmaster tools so that hopefully the videos on our site show up in the SERPs. Then wait a week and syndicate on third party sites such as youtube, vimeo, viddler, etc. Are there any negative side affects?
My thinking is that some people may only see the video if it is on youtube and the other niche sites because they may search those sites for videos rather than Google/Bing. Your thoughts?

I'm not convinced syndication via other players is the best link building tactic because if anybody links to or embeds them they're linking to the host site and not your site.
If the aim is to let people see and talk about the content (as in, if they're likely to do a blog post or otherwise talk about your site with a link when using these videos) then it's not bad, but there will almost definitely be some leakage.
So, definitely do it for exposure, especially if you think it's the only way people will see your videos in the first place. Not the worst thing in the world if you're selling something or it's the type of content people blog about.
However, if you can host your own player (or something like Brightcove) and have a link back in the player then that's going to be better in terms of link acquisition.

I think your stragety is a perfect one if you put the video a) to your website and b) to video hosting pages.
Like that you get the most profit.Just try to set up a complete profile on each video platform and enter all the datas you can put in there to attract as many viewers as you can.Regarding video sitemaps which has been submitted to the Google webmaster tools - we have many positive results showing up in the vertical results of the serps and even on the main stream.

Adding Video-Effective Means of Generating Quality Links?
Is adding video to URLs create a higher quantity/quality of incoming links than adding new text? Our firm operates a commercial real estate web site (www.metro-manhattan.com) in New York City. This niche is highly competitive. Our link profile is pretty weak. We have about 30-40 neighborhood pages among many others. These neighborhood based pages are text based. Would adding a video clip with pertinent information about these neighborhoods attract links? Basically the question is if video is effective link bait. Thanks, Alan

What link building techniques would you recommend for a dating site?
I am working on adding more content to the site (content marketing, trying to attract natural links), and this includes a blog. On-site optimization will be done based on good keyword research, and after that I will be working on link building for the site. I will pull backlink data of competing best performing dating websites, google-wise, and try to get some links from there. What other link building strategies / techniques could be good for this? Thanks.

OSE link report showing links to 404 pages on my site
I did a link analysis on this site mormonwiki.com. And many of the pages shown to be linked to were pages like these http://www.mormonwiki.com/wiki/index.php?title=Planning_a_trip_to_Rome_By_using_Movie_theatre_-_Your_five_Fun_Shows2052752 There happens to be thousands of them and these pages actually no longer exist but the links to them obviously still do. I am planning to proceed by disavowing these links to the pages that don't exist. Does anyone see any reason to not do this, or that doing this would be unnecessary? Another issue is that Google is not really crawling this site, in WMT they are reporting to have not crawled a single URL on the site. Does anyone think the above issue would have something to do with this? And/or would you have any insight on how to remedy it?

Outbound link to PDF vs outbound link to page
If you're trying to create a site which is an information hub, obviously linking out to authoritative sites is a good idea. However, does linking to a PDF have the same effect? e.g Linking to Google's SEO starter guide PDF, as opposed to linking to a google article on SEO. Thanks!

Do you think Link:Content Ratio counts in SEO?
We posted the same question in Quora. But hope to get responses or test results from SEOMOzers. This might help Google for identifying: High Link:Content Ratio = Parked Domain

Moderate Link:Content Ratio = Directory Site
Relatively High Link:Content Ratio = Normal Website
Very High Link:Content Ratio = Article page or Blog Do you think Google is using it, especially during Panda Update? I am trying to find a reasonable cause of many situations like the PR of deep links or category pages in Directory sites has vanished. And if that has something to do with it.0 -
