Google places rejected
-
google has rejected a few listing i have for certain businesses, i have read the guidlines and I am well inside them.
It does say that if business name is changed you need to re-verify, but does not allow you to do so.
I think google have lost their way, they should stop building operating systems and electric cars and get their web site sorted out.

Hi Alan
Really sorry to hear that
I set up all my clients on different accounts so as to minimise risk of this type of thing.
What you could try (perhaps for a less important GooglePlace / client). Set up a new ID and then go in via a search on GooglePlaces and see if you can take over the listing. Worth a try perhaps.

I fixed all problems and requested to be re-activated, and it told me it will take several weeks.
Thing is, because a few listing had problems all my clients have lost their listings for several weeks

I just looked for the help link and noticed that my whole account had been supended, i need to fix all listing before reactivating. did not see it.
I guess you deserve to be marked answer, as you led me to find the problem -
THanks mate,
no i have not contated yet as i doubt that will be quick,
I i just answered Rob, i cant re-vwerify it has no link, yet others do. -
Sorry went off into a bit of a rant, I guess i wanted to know if others have expirenced this, and if they solved the problem.
This has happended only recently, and it has happened to many of my listings.
some opf them did not fit guidlines, but others do, one in perticular i can not find anything wrong. As i stated, it does say that a change of busines name need re-verification, but it does not allow me to do so.

Hi Alan
To change your business name (or address) you have to verify by mail or phone. (I am assuming you have received your pin number and are able to edit your details??)
Have you tried contacting Google using the 'help' link at the top right of the GooglePlaces page.
Like Robert says it isn't totally clear but I hope this helps.
GooglePlaces are great so perservere!!

Alan,
It is hard to tell hear if you are asking a question or not. If it is a question, give a bit more detail and maybe someone in the community can help. Our company does a lot with Places so would be happy to assist if possible.

If I have a Google+ Business page, do I need a Google Places page as well?
It seems like the two are redundant? Any official word on this? I'm fairly OCD about things being tidy and I dont want to split my reviews / shares / etc between two profiles. Are they not the same thing? I searched for my company, both my plus business page and my places page came up. I attached a SS of the situation. placesvplus.png

Will Google ever begin penalising bad English/grammar in regards to rankings and SEO?
Considering Google seem to be on a great crusade with all their algorithm updates to raise the overall "quality" of content on the Internet, i'm a bit concerned with their seeming lack of action towards penalising sites that contain terrible English. I'm sure you've all noticed this when you attempt to do some proper research via Google and come across an article that "looks" to be what you're after, then you click through and realise it's obviously been either put together in a rush by someone not paying attention or putting much effort in, or been outsourced for cheap labour to another country whose workers aren't (close to being) native speakers. It's getting really old trying to make sense of articles that have completely incorrect grammar, entirely missing words, verb tenses that don't make any sense, randomly over-extravagant adjectives thrown in just as padding, etc. etc. No offense to all those from non-native speaking countries who are attempting to make a few bucks online, but this for me is becoming by far more of an issue in terms of "quality" of information online as opposed to some of the other search issues that are being given higher priority, and it just seems strange that Google have been so blasé about it up to this point - especially given so many of these articles and pages are nothing more than outsourced filler for cheap traffic. I understand it's probably hard to code in something so advanced, but it would go a long way towards making the web a better place in my opinion. Anyone else feeling the same way? Thoughts?

How can you change 'Google related searches'?
I am having problems for a few clients where google is suggesting negative related searches. I have had success getting Google suggestion (auto-complete) to suggest the keywords we want to be associated with the brand but the 'Searches Related to....' at the bottom of the search page is a big problem. Many of the terms are negative of sometimes defamatory and have absolutely not relevance to the brand. Even upon clicking on the related searches the pages Google displays are about other businesses. Can anyone suggest how to teach Google these term are irrelevant or any other suggestions as to how to remove them?

Google's Current Wave of Updates (4/24 edition)
Edit: Someone beat me to the punch, here is the thread: http://www.seomoz.org/q/google-webspam-algo-update-24-4-12 Let's just discuss it there. So Google has said they are doing another wave of algorithm updates that could impact anywhere from 3-5% of SERPs. I saw it here: http://searchengineland.com/google-launches-update-targeting-webspam-in-search-results-119295 http://googlewebmastercentral.blogspot.com/2012/04/another-step-to-reward-high-quality.html Has anyone seen any changes? I've heard from a few friends that their sites are bouncing all over the place, which seems to happy a lot during these updates. We might not actually know the fallout for a few days/weeks/months. I saw a few of my smaller sites take a hit, but most of mine have stayed the same. Anyway what do you guys think? Sometimes an update like this can be a wake-up call to people who think they are doing white hat stuff but may be pushing the envelope a bit too much. Thoughts?

Is it Google's new interface for search result?
Hi, While searching on Google, i came across a new search result page without underlines in the titles of search snippets. Is Google experimenting with something new or there is some problem in my browser. I checked it in Firefox but at the same time when i checked it on IE, normal page was visible. Regards photostream
