Whitelabel stores and consequences for SEO
-
Hello
I have a very important question to you. We are planning to a open 2 – 5 “whitelabel” web shops in each country that run on the same platform and server (Demandware) as our current web sites. Each white label site will have own domain.
The product selection will be identical and prices will be identical, but the sites will be branded differently with other logo and colors and name for the store.
The question is about the consequences for SEO for such project.
- What are the risks for the rankings for us, if the whitelabel products have same product descriptions and names as our existing web shop has?
- Will it affect our rankings?
- How would google rank 3 whitelabel stores that have own domains but otherwise identical product content?
- What is the minimal that should be changed from SEO point of view in order to avoid Google penalties or ranking problems?
Looking forward to hear from you
Greetings,

Hi! We're going through some of the older unanswered questions and seeing if people still have questions or if they've gone ahead and implemented something and have any lessons to share with us. Can you give an update, or mark your question as answered?
Thanks!

Hi Rolf,
Making 2 - 5 whitelabel shops target to the exact same market is a bad idea. You should at least target different niches or users.
Anyway if you plan on doing replicas of the site, you will have to change every texts on the different sites. I recommend to change the HTML and everything that could link the different sites.
This is a difficult task however, SERP domination is extremely hard.

I haven't done this personally, so this is pure conjecture - but I would be a little concerned if the sites were mainly identical (layout, content, products) and running on the same (or very close) IP address. Who knows when/if it could be found, but this would be quite easy for Google to track and potentially treat as duplicate content. You may not see any effect now, but for the long-term I'd try to think of alternative strategies..
If they were treated as duplicates, then typically Google will pick one and hide the others from SERPs

Canonical for multi store
Hello all, I need to make sure I am doing this correctly; I have one website and with two stores (content is mostly identical) with the following canonical tags; UK/EU Store: thespacecollective.com USA/ROW Store: thespacecollective.com/us/ Am I right in thinking that this is incorrect and that only one site should be referencing with the canonical tag? ie; UK/EU Store: thespacecollective.com USA/ROW Store: thespacecollective.com/us/ (please note the removed /us/ from the end of the URL)

Few question about SEO
HI guys, I have few questions and I always find good answer here. I tried many SEO companies some very expensive and well known some with medium prices and some from India. I’m not an SEO expert but I always get the same things from SEO companies. They're saying you have to stay with us for few months before you’ll see any results. I completely understand however I don’t see the result on the end.1. What exactly Do I need SEO company for, after I do on page optimisation if they don’t work on proper backlinks. Just letting you know I’m getting content from other people.2. Is there something else which is really important after your page is optimised than backlinks? Or we should fully focus on get backlinks from customers, guest post, sharing on social media etc. to increase our DA and PA?3. Any advice about some individual or company who is good in backlink services?

Pagination & SEO
Hi In one of my other Q&A's someone mentioned I may need to look at pagination. For instance, are these pages counted as 'new' pages in Google's eyes when clicking on pagination? http://www.key.co.uk/en/key/plastic-storage-boxes http://www.key.co.uk/en/key/plastic-storage-boxes#productBeginIndex:30&orderBy:5&pageView:list& Does anyone have any advice on what I could do? It's not something I have had much experience with. Thank you Becky

How to seo websites on another server
We have partners that want us to build and manage a co-branded white label for them. We will have unique content on the white label, however the white label will be located on our server. I was planning to put it on a subdomain and mask the URL, however was told that google will see through that and not give any credit to the white label. Our partners all have high PR and we are a new company with low PR. We want the white labels to get the credit from the partner websites. Should we do it through url masking or by changing the A Record in the other website to point to our server?

Can anyone think of any reasons why it would be a bad idea to use PowerPoint to create documents and then convert them to PDFs? Do you think this could cause any crawling issues for Google?
