My client has shown me a similar site, though not a competitor. He wants to know what sites they are linked from that give them such a good Google rank for certain kewords. Can SEOMoz tell me this?
-
When using google.com.au and searching for "travel to france", www.frenchtravel.com.au is the 3rd organic result. (the 1st two are not travel businesses, they are non profit travel guides)
My client, who runs www.visituk.com.au, an Australian site that organises tours of the UK, said "so we just need to add these sort of words to the site?" I said, yes, but it doesn't end there. The real task is to have a link to your site on other sites surrounded with the words "travel" and "UK". He asked if he could see a list of the sites the french site was being referred by relevant to the search phrase. Is there an SEOmoz tool for this? Or is there another way I can generate that list?
Thanks
Simon

there is one way then in google addwords, try a combination between keyword tool, placement estimator, traffic estimator, you dont have to pay for using the analyzers, try combining the competitors websites and your site
-
Thanks again, but it's basically the same as the SEOmoz tool you suggested first and misses the point: which links are are contributing to make the site rank for that one search. Like the Competitive Link Research Tool it shows me every site that has a backlink..I only need the links that relate to the specific keyword search
Maybe there's no such thing?

There is one more Web CEO and this has a free version for sure, and try this maybe it is what you need http://www.iwebtool.com/backlink_checker

If i've found the same one you were thinking of ( http://www.link-assistant.com/seo-spyglass/buy.html ) the free option doesn't allow you to run a test using Google. It's $99 to buy so it's not worth it just to answer a question. Thanks, though. Any other ideas would be appreciated

there is a tool it is called SEO spy glass it is from SEO Power tools there is a trial version try with it to find maybe it is what you need

Thanks Ion, I did show him a report from that tool, but he wanted something more specific...something that showed which links on which sites were contributing to that specific ranking. (The suggested report shows the pages that are linking to that site, but not relative to those particular keywords)

This is what you search for, try it, it is beta version. backlink analyser.

I can see competitors ranking for certain long-tail keywords but cannot find them on web pages. What am I missing?
Hi there. I'm pretty new to SEO and I've been doing a fair bit of training but there is one aspect I have yet to grasp. When I carry out keyword research, I get all these results and I understand the metrics. What I'm not getting is, when a competitor is ranking highly for say "where can I buy fresh turkeys", I assume that that phrase must appear somewhere on the page, but it doesn't. I realise I'm just not thinking about this in the right way. Can anyone offer clarification, please? Kind regards, Bruce

What are some good SEO tactics to defend our position against an upcoming competition in a near monopolistic market?
I'm doing SEO for a medium sized client whose area of business is targeting a very niche audience, in an almost monopolistic market. We're currently in top 3 ranks in our head terms. However, market research has indicated the threat from an upcoming competitor. The competitor is relatively larger and is well established in other countries. Is there something I could do from my end to defend/maintain our current position?

Would sharing the same IP address with competitors in the same market hurt SEO?
I work for the Chevy dealership in New York who is trying to rank against other Chevy dealerships in the same area. All the dealerships, including my client, are using the same Chevy endorsed CMS (Cobalt). I just noticed that all of these competitors, including my client, are using the SAME IP address. Would it be beneficial to SEO if we were to ditch the Cobalt platform and choose another one that gave us a unique IP address? Have any of you run into this before? Any help would be appreciated.

Is using photos of people to market your ecommce a good idea? Do you think people relate more?
So I noticed all the leading competitors in our market are using photos of people on their home pages to market products.. While we are using a simple but eye catching design with no photos of people but only produts.

Best Link Analysis Tool?
Now that the Yahoo Site Explorer is not usable on sites unless they are in your Bing Webmaster Tools, what is the best tool out there to see an accurate list of inbound links to a site? Google tools are still pretty unreliable from what I can see...

IP Address Of Site
Hi there, really new to seo and loving being able to research everything on seo moz. I have a question about the ip address of my site: I use a company that sells templated real estate websites (I'm a realtor) and I'm noticing all of their websites show as having the same ip address. There are probably 100's of sites on their server targeting the same keywords as I am, would this affect my ranking at all? I'm just considering switching to a Wordpress site with a unique IP address, so I'm curious to find out how the seomoz members would answer this question. Cheers, Adrian
