Problem with my site
-
the site is casino.pt
we created the site 7-8 month ago, we started to push it by good and natural links (http://www.opensiteexplorer.org/www.casino.pt/a!links!!filter!all!!source!external!!target!page), links in sites with content rich and most of them related to gambling and sport topics.
During the first 3-5 months, the rankings were better and better, after the 6 months, the site lose all its rankings.

- no critical errors in google webmaster tools
any idea how can I fix it?
thanks

Hi! I'm following up on older questions and am wondering how you're doing with your site now, and if the rankings have improved. I see that you're at least indexed in the US right now, with plenty of pages in Google. Can you give us an update and any information that might be helpful for someone else in a similar situation?

I would need to spend some considerable amount of time looking at this, which might be awkward. Just check that you are doing everything by the book. Don't go near black or grey hat techniques and get lots of unique content on there. You also want to build up a good social following and get them to read and repost your articles. Regards, Andy

thanks again for the help Andy,
I would happy to provide you what kind of details do you need?....
thanks

I would say that the original higher placements you were getting then were just an early boost. However, if you are sure that everything you have done is absolutely White hat, then it is hard to know what other reasons google might have found to do this without going into it in more detail. Andy

thanks for the reply, the articles are original with good content

If you have been booted out, it is likely because you have done something that Google doesn't like. Despite the fact that other sites might do this and get away with it, not everyone will and Google will come down hard on them.
Have the articles you bought been duplicated elsewhere on the web?
It could be that you need to reverse what has been done and then send in a reconsideration request to Google, through your Webmaster tools.
Regards,
Andy

If you've bought links and as a result been kicked out of SERPs you should start by cleaning up your link profile. Get rid of the links you bought in the hope you can be re-listed.
This white board Friday video might be a good starting point http://www.seomoz.org/blog/preventing-linkbased-penalties-whiteboard-friday
Good luck!

basically have been booted out of serps's altogether,
Regarding links, We bought articles in other related sites. In gambling sites is very common to do that, you can see the biggest top ranking sites doing that..
I checked the backlinks of casino.pt and they look fine...
what do you suggest us to do?
thanks for the help

When you say you were pushing it by good natural links, do you mean you were going out and gaining links yourself or were other sites linking back to you because of a good site and content?
It is not uncommon for sites to get a boost in the beginning and then drop to where Google thinks they should actually be.
Have you been booted out of the SERP's altogether, or just lost positions?
Regards,
Andy

Canonical URLs in an eCommerce site
We have a website with 4 product categories (1. ice cream parlors, 2. frozen yogurt shops etc.). A few sub-categories (e.g. toppings, smoothies etc.) and the products contained in those are available in more than one product category (e.g. the smoothies are available in the "ice cream parlors" category, but also in the "frozen yogurt shops" category). My question: Unfortunately the website has been designed in a way that if a subcategory (e.g. smoothies) is available in more than 1 category, then itself (the subcategory page) + all its product pages will be automatically visible under various different urls. So now I have several urls for one and the same product: www.example.com/strawberry-smoothie|SMOOTHIES|FROZEN-YOGURT-SHOPS-391-2-5 and http://www.example.com/strawberry-smoothie|SMOOTHIES|ICE-CREAM-PARLORS-391-1-5 And also several ones for one and the same sub-category (they all include exactly the same set of products): http://www.example.com/SMOOTHIES-1-12-0-4 (the smoothies contained in the ice cream parlors category) http://www.example.com/SMOOTHIES-2-12-0-4 (the same smoothies, contained in the frozen yogurt shops category) This is happening with around 100 pages. I would add canonical tags to the duplicates, but I'm afraid that by doing so, the category (frozen yogurt shops) that contains several non-canonical sub-categories (smoothies, toppings etc.) , might not show up anymore in search results or become irrelevant for Google when searching for example for "products for frozen yoghurt shops". Do you know if this would be actually the case? I hope I explained it well..

Site Indexed but not Cached?
I launched a new website ~2 weeks ago that seems to be indexed but not cached. According to Google Webmaster most of the pages are indexed and I see them appear when I search site:www.xxx.com. However, when I type into the URL - cache:www.xxx.com I get a 404 error page from Google.

I've checked more established websites and they are cached so I know I am checking correctly here... Why would my site be indexed but not in the cache?0 -

Can I noindex most of my site?
A large number of the pages on my site are pages that contain things like photos and maps that are useful to my visitors, but would make poor landing pages and have very little written content. My site is huge. Would it be benificial to noindex all of these?

Index forum sites
Hi Moz Team, somehow the last question i raised a few days ago not only wasnt answered up until now, it was also completely deleted and the credit was not "refunded" - obviously there was some data loss involved with your restructuring. Can you check whether you still find the last question and answer it quickly? I need the answer 🙂 Here is one more question: I bought a website that has a huge forum, loads of pages with user generated content. Overall around 500.000 Threads with 9 Million comments. The complete forum is noindex/nofollow when i bought the site, now i am thinking about what is the best way to unleash the potential. The current system is vBulletin 3.6.10. a) Shall i first do an update of vbulletin to version 4 and use the vSEO tool to make the URLs clean, more user and search engine friendly before i switch to index/follow? b) would you recommend to have the forum in the folder structure or on a subdomain? As far as i know subdomain does take lesser strenght from the TLD, however, it is safer because the subdomain is seen as a separate entity from the regular TLD. Having it in he folder makes it easiert to pass strenght from the TLD to the forum, however, it puts my TLD at risk c) Would you release all forum sites at once or section by section? I think section by section looks rather unnatural not only to search engines but also to users, however, i am afraid of blasting more than a millionpages into the index at once. d) Would you index the first page of a threat or all pages of a threat? I fear duplicate content as the different pages of the threat contain different body content but the same Title and possibly the same h1. Looking forward to hear from you soon! Best Fabian
