Link grow from month to month
-
Using SEOmoz tools what is the best way understand what are the new link only acquired from month to month? For example if I had 450 links in February and then grew to 500 in March? I would specifically like to know what those 50 are that grew. How can i do that?

I'd export the links into excel each month and then use VLOOKUP to check which existed the previous month with those that didn't being the new links.

Dear inetteam,
I use OpenSiteExplorer.org and i export my backlinks to an excel workbook.
- I paste the data on Sheet 1
- I Create a pivot table on Sheet 2 (left side bar are the links and I drop PA in Data Items fields)
Each time there is an update (monthly) i copy the data and paste them in the Sheet 1. then i go to sheet 2 and adjust the "Data Source" (list is bigger now) and i click refresh data.
normally all the new links will appear under the last link of last month.
I bet there is other Mozzers can do this in another way or better

I would like to know this too. The OSE (opensiteexplorer) db (well, Linkscape db) is updated about every 4 weeks and will show you the backlinks. But I dont think it says "this set is new from the last crawl" and that would be very helpful. Maybe go to http://seomoz.zendesk.com/entries/485551-improve-competitor-tracking-in-the-competitive-link-tool and vote for an improved backlink tracking feature.

How to link build?
Hello all. I've been having intense conversations with an experienced SEO, who has told me that the only way to get consistent links to your website, and to build you business through the web is through blogger outreach, and then paying the bloggers to put your appropriate content on their high Page Ranking website. To me, this may well be right. But it sounds dull as anything. Any thoughts? William

Link Building On a Budget
Hello! We are a small online business with a tight budget. Most of the content, social, ppc is done in-house to keep things under control & cost down. Can anyone suggest a local or offshore link building agency that we can trust or that someone else has used with good success? Some of the local agencies we've contacted quoted us 150-200/mth per keyword, is that typical? Has anyone been successful with agencies overseas? Thank You!!

When pitching a whitepaper as Push Content for Link Building, is it ok to give the person I'm pitching a link to a landing page with a form on it?
When pitching a whitepaper as Push Content for Link Building (i.e. pushing out content that my client has created), is it ok to give the person I'm pitching a link to a landing page with a form on it? Or should I create a landing page with the whitepaper included on it? I’m not sure if the client will be ok with this b/c I know they use the whitepaper for sales purposes to gain leads. For example, my pitch email would include a line such as this, "the whitepaper can be found at LINK and I'd love if you could share it with your readers." I think it may be weird/a little wrong to ask a webmaster to include a link on his site to a landing page with a form to get the whitepaper. Does this make sense? What have others done with whitepapers as Push Content for link building?

On my campaign report from SEOmoz I have noticed that all my 3 competitors have 99% followed links versus 1% no-followed links. Should I do the same? How can I check were are the no-follow links on my site? Old links
I am looking to remove some old directory links that now look spammy. Some years ago the site was redesigned. The links are all to the old pages url, which is 301 redirected to the new. If we remove the 301 and let the page 404, will that suffice in Googles eyes?

How do websites get links here...
Does anyone know how people get into the "Top Links on This Topic" section of the Huffington Post? I can see that the "Around the Web" section is curated by someone, in this case "Jeff Muskus" but there is no indication how the Top Links on This Topic appear on a page. The only thing I noticed is that the original article appearing in HP is almost a year older than any of the referenced links. Link Ratio
Does Google (or other search engines) penalize websites if they have a too many inbound links from a single domain? (Say for instance, I have 500 inbound links, and 400 of them are from one root domain.)
