Free Keyword Tracking Tool
-
Hi,
Any suggestion which is the best FREE keyword ranking tool.
I know digital point offers one but they will install some script in the site which might slow it down...
Is there any alternative?
-
You should take a look at CuteRank. This tool is free and if you run it once daily you can see the keyword ranking over time. It will save history and will draw easy graphs to see how you are doing.
-
Thanks for the suggestion alhallinan , one quick question ... what kind of reports do you run ? do you have any excel Macro to do that ?
-
That's a good point, I've never thought about using Excel for that...
-
SeoBook provide a firefox plugin and you can save a list of keywords if you wish. you just need to put them in a spreadsheet yourself.

You could always use SEOmoz's tracking tool, since you are a PRO member.

I agree on both counts - Webmaster Tools has great data, but only 30 days worth.
I download all of the data in Excel once a month and run reports. I've found that to be the best way.
-
Thanks Dejan
But the problem with webmaster is that it provides ONLY 30 days of data...
What if I want to track for a bigger time frame ?
-
I have to be honest, Google Webmaster Tools gives me all the free data I need including ranking history and impressions which resulted in no clicks (which is useful to know).

Universal Analytics & Google Tag Manager - Track URLs that include hashes
Does anyone have any experience tracking URLs that include hashes (#) using Universal Analytics and Google Tag Manager? Can it be done using GTM's container for UA, using the "more settings" options? Or building another tag to work with the GTM UA container? The fallback I'm considering is implementing the UA code in GTM for every page as Custom HTML with the "ga('send', 'pageview', location.pathname + location.search + location.hash);" solution, rather than GTM's specialized UA tag. I'm not yet sure what problems may arise from that, if any. Thanks in advance.

Is Google turning Off Webmaster Tools Search data
My Webmaster Tools account has stopped showing data past 9/23, which is a full week old. Typically it is just a few days behind schedule. Is Google cutting this off?

Tools For Analysing Backlinks
Does anyone know of a good tool that analyses backlinks? I have already tried Link Research Tools and found it very useful but it is very expensive. Does anyone know of an alternative that does the same thing, i.e. will tell you what links are causing harm to your site?

"not selected" is gone from Google Webmaster Tools Index Status Advanced
Just noticed today that the "not selected" has been removed from the Index status, Advanced section of Google Webmaster Tools. Anyone know why. I've used this metric to determine how or why Google was not selecting pages, particularly to gauge canonical's, 301's and duplicate content. It will be missed if gone for good.

What services/reports to try during my free trial period?
Hi all - I am just starting the 2nd month of a two month free trial. So far I have run advanced reports snooping at the dofollow backlinks of other bloggers in my niche to get an idea of where they're getting their backlinks from. I have also been looking at top pages of lots of blogs in my niche to get an idea of what the most popular content is. What else should I be trying out during my free trial period? Note, I'm not selling anything directly on the site. I'm looking to increase visitors, comments etc.

What to get from google Webmaster tools?
Hi everyone, I've been doing optimization for our websites and tracking the results regularly but don't really know what the results actually mean. I heard that I need to check the traffic and organic results from Google analytics and Google webmaster tools. Everybody says something and not sure what to do? Is there anyone clarify the SEO process for me - when to do what and why in simplest way? Thanks in advance,
