What can Google tell from a video?
-
I notice that Youtube apparently does kind of an automatic transcription.
What can Google tell about a video? Is it comparing text from a voice recognition transcript? Can it take compare the waveform of a video signal and see how different a video is from another video?
I'm putting together a variety of videos that are similar for different pages and wondering how much do I have to change for each video.
I remember one time I attempted to launch a video that was an exact copy but with a different file name, title and tags and Youtube said, "hey, that's the same video!"
Thanks!

Oh, nothing definitive. Just makes sense to me that a duplicate video track footprint would be seen as a duplicate video. Have not tested this myself though.

Hi Brian,
Thanks for the message and weighing in.With voice recognition and the link you mentioned, I can totally believe they look at audio.
You are probably right, but what makes you think they look at video as well?
Thanks...

YouTube is doing some form of foot printing on files looking for duplicate content (video/audio).
If you need to reuse a video, you will need do something to each copy of the video to make it unique. Is there a specific percent difference that they are looking for to have changed?, yes probably, but I wouldn't suggest focus on that. Instead, change something on each video that will both modify the video, and help better inform users. For example, modifying the opening and closing titles of the video to better match the specific circumstance under which you are reusing that video. On a side note, there is good info on adding captions and subtitles here: http://www.google.com/support/youtube/bin/answer.py?answer=100077

Most valuable things that clients can do for us SEO-wise?
Hi One and All! We're launching a new site which provides listings for businesses, and being that it's very early in the process and we're building up our presence we're offering our services for free for now. In return though we would like to request that our clients exchange the free service we're providing for things which will help our SEO to develop faster. I've thought of things like following/liking social accounts, maybe even backlinking to us in a blog post if they have a blog, but does anyone have any other ideas about what other beneficial things they can do for us, and which things are most beneficial? Thanks for Advice!

Google Plus Cover image
Does anyone have any tips on getting a super crisp cover image uplaoded to G+? I have a clear image, full dimensions of 2120 x 1192, but once I've uploaded it, G+ appears to compress it and it loses sharpness / quality. I have turned auto-optimise off, and and tried both JPEG and PNG files - PNG seems to work better, but still not quite there. Example: https://plus.google.com/116325067504054061939 (scroll up to see blurry text) Thx!

Setting up Google + Business Pages for Multiple Clients
I am looking at setting up several of my clients with Google Plus pages for their businesses. What's the best practice for doing this? Should I have a separate Google Account for each and set up the Business Page under that account? Are you allowed to have multiple Google Accounts manage a single Business Page - i.e., can I turn it over to the business without having to relinquish my control or give them access to the account I made? Any good tutorials on getting started with this? Thanks! Tom

For better SEO I understand I should be using Google+, but under what identity?
It appears one way to rank more highly is by using Google+. But should I start to build a community myself or as my company? I have a good Twitter following under my own name, which links to my company page and a facebook page (for my business). I much prefer to be a face on social media than hide behing a logo, but am faced with a dilemma and not sure where to begin: Will Google recognise the relationship between me and my business if I set up an account under my own name? Primarily it's my business I want to promote, so from an seo perspective it seems should I use Google+ as my business, but I really dislike 'corporate' social media?

Google+ and Google Search Plus Your World. Are the results served actually the best results?
I recently started a discussion on Google+ and thought I would get some feedback from the SEO community. https://plus.google.com/106060287111641282262/posts/Hpak5R6uY47 This article suggests that Google Search Plus Your World does not improve search quality for users. When a search is performed, I can imagine that results would be skewed to Google+ content and +1s from people in your circles. Doesn't this mean that if you only follow not-so-influential people who share and +1 not so quality stuff that your new "world" results are just going to be low quality? Doesn't this mean that SEO and traditional linking methods are dying? This would mean that the bigger chains will have more advantage just like what happened after Panda. How does the small business compete with this? Any insight would be of super appreciation.

Google Places Pages and social icons
I have a business that works in many cities across Texas. Our home base is in Austin and i have a Google Places page set up for Austin. I have a page dedicated to each major city in Texas talking about clients we've worked with in each city, etc.. I am placing social icons on each page and Google Places is one of the Icons and i was concerned that if Google sees a link to our Austin places page on our Houston page that the Houston page might be considered less relevant for a Houston search being as Google takes note of addresses on pages to consider relevance. Will my page suffer in the serps if i link to our Austin local page on our other city pages in the google places icon? Second question: What are the best social icons to put on my web pages for the best traffic? Take care,
