How do you get reviews from a local review site to show up in Places?
-
Does anyone have any experience with getting a local review site to show up when it is turning out tens of thousands of reviews on local companies in one specific industry (no not restaurants) (Insurance agents, etc.)? Is there a submission process for Google?
Thanks mozzers

It is an automated process. Google uses rich snippets to collect this data. The review site need to use rich snippets to transfer.
If you are looking for sites to get reviews on, check your competitors and see where their reviews are coming from.
Encourage your customers to use the same review sites. Also, give your customers options on where to review you. If someone already is active in Google reviews it doesnt make sense for them to review you in Yelp, especially since yelp will probably filter their result if they sign up for an account to write one review and never come back.
If it is your review site, there is a submission process. Here is some info on rich snippets and the submission process to Google.

My experience shows that the reviews have to be in the hreview microformat. Then places may or may not pick it up. If it is not in the correct format places won't even look at it.

Official Site label in Bing SERPs
A colleague noticed a few major brands have labels like "official site" in their Bing listings and they also seem to get a "Customer Service phone number" included as their rich snippet under the meta title. My guess was they possibly have schema mark-up on the page, but I was wondering if anyone else knows how else they could have landed this extra snippet? Thanks in advance! mveXoj7

Opinions For Getting Worthwhile Links For Longevity
Hi Everyone, I have just joined the Moz community and have been reading through a lot of content. I have a question and I would like to put it out to all of the professional digital marketers here to hear their take on it. Basically I work for a construction company that has developed a way to build extensions to houses which is environmentally friendly and cost effective. Obviously the house extensions market is pretty competitive and I need to work out how I can make headway into the market for the digital marketing side of things. The website is still under construction and I am having it built in order to will viewers to enter their contact details for more information as well as provide lots of useful content that show why the product will be more cost effective than say a standard timer frame constructed house extension. We are having some professional videos made as well so we can set up a YouTube channel and this will be clearly visible on the website as well. What I would like advice on is how would you start to build quality links to a site like this. We are not going for just local trade but more national (UK). The main thing is that we have longevity and I know it wont happen very quickly but I want to ensure that we do things the right way. Thanks Barry

Yahoo Newspaper Consortium... What can my local newspaper offer me that Yahoo Ads won't?
Hi Everyone 🙂 I was recently approached by the Vancouver Sun and the Province (our major newspapers in BC), and they said they had an "exclusive partnership" with Yahoo. I can't seem to find much information on it... what is the "Yahoo Newspaper Consortium" and is there any benefit for me going with what the newspapers offer rather than doing our own thing with Yahoo Ads? Any resources or info is appreciated 🙂

Local SEO - Review's Strategy
I'm trying to brainstorm some ideas for obtaining positive reviews for a my client who's a local business on Yelp and Google+. I think it's best to capture a customer in the "happy moment" after a successful transaction with that business. I'm thinking integrating the option for customers to leave a review on Yelp or Google+ during the transaction process would be best. Do you have any suggestions or experiences on the best way to integrate this into a transaction process where a customer physically walks into their business to make the transaction? (it's an Auto Body Shop BTW) Also any other strategies for getting customers to give reviews? Much appreciated!

Price, Ratings, Cuisine filter does not show from Carousel.
When looking at the carousel for restaurants Houston, or colorado springs restaurants, etc. I am not getting a price, ratings filter. I am using Chrome, have extensions off, etc. Not in a non-personalized search, logged into Google as one of my accounts. Someone else on different machine next to me (they are both MacBook Pros though) is getting the ratings filter. Anyone else seen this? Thanks

Content Marketing for E-Commerce Sites
Let's have a real discussion about content marketing for B2B and B2C e-commerce sites. As an SEO/inbound marketer (these days, I'm not sure what to call myself other than my first name), it's part of my job to keep a pulse on what's going on in the online marketing community. My daily routine starts with checking several sites for news/discussion (Moz, Inbound.org, SearchEngineLand, etc). Anyone actively involved in the community knows the word "content" appears in more articles than any other word (ok, maybe there a few others). Want to increase brand awareness? Generate content. Want to drive more traffic to your site? Generate content. Want to build quality links? Generate content. Want to discover the Higgs particle before the physicists? Generate content (and distribute to the right audience, so not to the chemists - ok maybe to the chemists, they're a related audience). Content, content, content, we're told! Yes I did see the Rand's WBF from a couple months back about content-less marketing, but frankly his suggestions fall under the traditional model of advertising and word-of-mouth. We're online marketers baby, we're expanding and changing the traditional model - with content! Enough of content marketing about content marketing. Let's see some content marketing for the small B2C, mom n' pop client who sells gardening tools. Let's see the amazing infographic you made for your local pizzeria client that drove traffic to their site. Let's see the Q+A discussion thread you identified and contributed to as means to display 'market leadership' in your niche of home air purifiers. Look, I love the idea of content marketing to increase brand awareness and drive traffic. Displaying market leadership by answering questions and offering something beneficial to your target audience should be the way to grow business (along with having a good product/service, I guess). But it's much easier said than done. And to be clear, I never expected otherwise. The motivation for this post was to start a discussion about real-world, applied content marketing, not content marketing about content marketing. Let the conversation begin.

What can i do to regain top 3 for local map listings if I already created a bunch of citation link to my site?
I got hit by a penguin refresh on Oct 5th and lost over 10 #1 rankings. I'm currently #4 on the places listing for my main keyword and really trying to regain top 3 position. I created a bunch of local citation with matching info and really piped out my map listing since it is 100% complete. I'm quite stumped on how to further optimize my map listing to where i can hit top 3 positions. Does anyone have any recommendations on this issue? Thanks Sam
