Value of Linkworthy Resource Pages
-
Suppose you create a great resource that links to the top 50 blogs in your industry. The blogs in your industry love it and many of them link to that page.
How valuable are those inbound links? I would think some factors hurting the value of these links are that they are not pointing to an important page on your site like the home page or main category page, and the 50 links on the page dilutes the linkjuice that is passed back to the homepage. Or is the main value in making the domain's link equity stronger?
-
You may be better off sending that link juice to your own pages rather then to the blogs, seeing that they may not link back to you with a do-follow link.
what would make someone link to your page, the fact that you have a link to them? or that you speak highly of them. why not just do article on the blogs with no links, if you speak highly of them they will more then likly link to you.
PS this would create 1 way links rather than 2 way -
You're partially correct. To get actual value, the page should not simply be a page with links. It should be a full blown "top fifty" type article, with extensive commentary on the reason why each is on the list.
By going this route, the page itself becomes more valuable from an on-site content perspective; the outbound links have more value (each link is integrated within descriptive paragraph based content targeting that business' specific offerings (thus keyword and brand relevant); and any inbound links in turn equate to higher value inbound links to an inner page on your site. Links to inner pages are vital in today's SEO best practices when done properly.
While not as valuable as a full blown content piece with only a few outbound links, it's still more than what is essentially a doorway page.
-
Most of them will be nofollowed.
But those that are not will count towards your domain authority.
The real value is determined by how powerful your site is at present. If you have a new site then these links would be a fantastic boost. But if your site is mature and established with 100,000 links then the 5 good ones that you get from this exercise will not add notice to your rankings.
Honestly... I would rather have a provocative piece of content that would attract those same five links, hundreds more, gets tweeted and liked, and competes in the SERPs for a kickass KW.

Link to page in SERP or page with good on-page optimisation
Hi, Some friends are happy to link to my site. As I am focusing on a particular search term is it best to have them link to the page that already appears in the SERP for that term or the one with better on page optimisation? Thanks Billy

#1 with grade F page optimization
For a specific keyword we rank #1 in Google. Nevertheless, I got a Grade F on SEOMoz regarding page optimization. All comments were certainly true. On another keyword (keyword 2) we got a grade A, on this keyword we rank #3. Strange enough I did linkbuilding on keyword 2 to the page regarding this keyword. I did not do linkbuilding for the first keyword. How can this be explained? Both keywords have average competition.

Are reputable local directories effective link building resources for high rankings in local search?
I'm working on a local search campaign. Generally, the first thing I do is add the site to all of the local directories that I know of. I'm curious, with penguin updates, whether or not this is still an effective strategy for local search.

1 Domain - 2 Links Pointing to 2 Different Pages
Hi Guys, I wonder if you can give me any pointers: We have an exact match domain name that is ranking #5 for our main keyword and is getting some good traffic through the site. We have just created a landing page for another keyword with fresh content that will be updated every week. The question is, I've been building links to my domain name and I'm just wondering if we built another link from 1 of the sites we already have a link on and point it to this new landing page would this help it rank better or not? Hope the above makes sense. Thanks, Scott
