What is the effect on using jQuery sliders for content on SEO?
-
I know using css in subversive manners gets you dinged for points. I didnt know if JS counted the same since you are essentially hiding parts of the content and showing it in intervals as slides.
The goal would be having key items for a client in divs and rotating those divs via a slider plugin as slides. I was just curious if that effected things in any way.
Thanks!

There is no issue with using js sliders in the manner you described.
Most similar questions asking if it is ok to use a certain technique can be checked by answering two questions:
After making this change can the code be read in the HTML (View Page Source) of the page?
Is this change a positive user experience?
If both of the above questions can be answered with a "yes" then it is most likely going to be acceptable to search engines.
This answer is based on the assumption you are proceeding in good faith. If you did anything manipulative such as present slide 1 for 10 seconds, slide 2, 3, &4 for 10 seconds each, then through in a long slide 5 for half a second with links or other hidden content, of course that can be an issue.

How do I optimize dynamic content for SEO?
Hello, folks! I'm wondering how I optimize a site if it is built on a platform that works based on dynamic content. For example, the page pulls in certain information based on the information it has about the user. Not every user will see the same page. Thanks!

Responsive Content
At the moment we are thinking about switching to another CMS. We are discussing the use of responsive content. Our developer states that the technique uses hidden content. That is sort of cloaking. At the moment I'm searching for good information or tests with this technique but I can't find anything solid. Do you have some experience with responsive content and is it cloaking? Referring to good articles is also a plus. Looking forward to your answers!

We're currently not using schemas on our website. How important is it? And are websites across the globe using it?
Schemas looks like an important thing when it comes to structuring your website and ensuring the crawl bots get all the details. I've been reading a lot of articles around the web and most of them are saying that schemas are important but very few websites are using it. Why so? Are the schemas on schema.org there to stay or am I wasting my time?

Duplicate Content Question
Brief question - SEOMOZ is teling me that i have duplicate content on the following two pages http://www.passportsandvisas.com/visas/ and http://www.passportsandvisas.com/visas/index.asp The default page for the /visas/ directory is index.asp - so it effectively the same page - but apparently SEOMOZ and more importantly Google, etc treat these as two different pages. I read about 301 redirects etc, but in this case there aren't two physical HTML pages - so how do I fix this?

Video SEO
Hello All! I'm wondering about the best way to link build and carry on my video trend. I love to create video's with all of my articles as I feel it adds an extra element to just boring old text! The problem is that my current 25 links from Youtube are all NoFollow. This didn't originally bother me, but it's starting too. Is there a couple of websites that I could upload my article/ video to and gain a link from in a similar manner? Come to think of it, is this a good SEO tactic to use?
