For the hotel website, should i make homepage banner/slideshow in flash or javascript
-
Hello Sir,
We have build hotel website and enabled google analytics on that. When we were going through the report of google analytics it shows that 69% have java and other 31% visitor has no java.
We have designed Slideshow/banner on home page which shows different pictures of hotel which is in javascript.
My question is as per google analytics report 31% have no java, that means they are not able to see that slideshow/banner of hotel pictures? is this the reason for 23% bounce rate on our website?
Please help on this because I have spend nights on seo and tried lot of goal conversion techniques with different landing pages.
I will heartily appreciate you response.
Thanks,
Bandro.

Hello,
Its a Hotel Website into Massachusetts. Average Monthly Google Searches for Hotels in that city and country is 6500 (of all 46 keywords) and we are getting 4200 to 4700 clicks out of those 6500. Average user stays on website for 6.5 minutes, business has gone up 35% compare to last summer. but 23% of 4500 clicks is 900; which is still big number. so trying to bounce rate up to 5%. Now JAVA is not the problem so I have to find out what is real problem, or where I can improve it. Need to work hard on it.

85% is a very high bounce rate.
23% is very respectable but of course will vary depending on how targeted the traffic is

Jamie ,
Thanks for the reply :). Actually I was disappointed with the 23% Bounce Rate on my site and I was not able to figure out the real reason behind it. before 3-4 months bounce rate was 85%, after changing the page every week and trying different navigations and landing page i was able to lower it to 23% from 85% but i was not able to achive much lower bounce rate and started looking at google analytics in detail and found 31% has No java. thats why I asked this question. Your answer was helpful.
Thanks,
Bandro.

Java is not the same as Javascript.. Javascript is enabled in >90% of browsers I would expect maybe >95%, normally only security concerns cause people to turn it off.
Javascript is probably the way to go as it can then be crawled by GoogleBot (aslong as all links are present in the markup when the page loads). Now, many years later, Google cannot crawl flash very well or even at all in most cases.
Stick with HTML where possible.

Redirect Management on Headless Wordpress w/ React Front End
Hello everyone, As Headless Wordpress becomes more and more popular, it becomes more complicated to manage and track 301 redirects. I'm reaching out for advice on this. Our main issue right now, is that after migrating from Drupal to a Headless Wordpress/React platform we lost the ability to track, manage, and view traffic analytics for users hitting those redirects. This was something we were able to do in Drupal. Example: If we have a redirect in place we could see how many times in the past x number of days that redirect was hit by users attempting to access the old URL. Unfortunately, Yoast Premium, has been helpful with other SEO needs, but this is one that it is not able to manage. Anyone have any ideas, experience, or thoughts on this issue? Thanks for your time

If your brand name is the same as your URL should you include it in your homepage title tag?
I have always felt that having your brand name in every title tag though-out your website when your URL is your brand name is a waste. The space your brand name takes up could be used for more valuable non-branded keywords. If your brand name is unique, the URL (and content optimized with your brand name) should be enough to have you rank #1 across the board in search results. Though I beleive this I still think it is valuable placing your brand name in the back of your homepage title tag. Example: Full Service Advertising Agency | Your Brand Name Any thoughts why you should or shouldn't do this? Isn't this useful for branded purposes? Doe this help click-though rate? Don't you want your visitors to know our brand at first glance of search results? Another argument I had for doing it was if it weren't important, than why does every search site do this? http://moz.com/ http://searchengineland.com/ http://searchenginewatch.com/ http://www.seroundtable.com/ Thanks for the help!

Conversion Rate boost - Website Feedback
We are a relatively young company with an Okay conversion rate of around 2% across several different sales channels. I am mentioning this because our website with the same type of products has a very low conversion rate of under 1%. I know this is a deep topic, involving different analytic metrics, but would like to ask MOZ community members if there's anything obvious that needs improvement on this website www.cherrywalls.com that would help to increase conversions. I will be happy to answer any additional questions or to clarify things! Thank you for your time! Any suggestions and/or critique are greatly appreciated!

Google Merchant/ Googlebase Images at top of SERPS
Hi We are based in the UK and the new merchant rules have recently been applied here. We offer free shipping but now most of our click throughs come from the images at the top of the SERPS that simply give an image and a price. The prices do not include shipping and there's no indication to the user that shipping is included. Hence our conversion rate from PPC is way down. Is there any way to counter this or do we just need to go back to charging for shipping? Thanks!

Is it advisable to use meta refresh for Google Website Optimiser?
We'd like to track conversions using Google's Website Optimiser, but the conversion page is hosted on a different sub domain so Google won't allow us to use this as the conversion page. The plan was then to add a blank page on the original domain that contains Google tracking code and a meta refresh to the page on the sub domain. We would then block this page in the robots file so Google doesn't try to index the page with the meta refresh. Does anyone see any harm that may come of this? Or any other way around the issue? Thanks in advance
