Meaning Behind Google Local Search Results Icons?
-
I can't seem to easily find this answer anywhere (even in the Google Places FAQ page), so thought I'd stop digging around and simply ask it here:
What are the meanings behind the icons to the right of the link and to the left of the "place page" link in Google's local search results?
I see a checkmark/question mark in a circle, then a bar chart with various levels filled in, then a dollar sign in a circle, then a magnifying glass.
1. What are these telling me, as a searcher?
2. What are they telling the owner of the business?
Thank you for your help; I just can't seem to find a reference for this...

no problem
I've done it before

You know what? (Sound of hand slapping forehead...) It must be one of my Firefox plugins! That would pretty much answer why my searches for Google Places icons weren't getting me anywhere!
I'll dig into that now, on my own, and sorry for wasting your guys' time...!
-
I'm not seeing those either, some kinda firefox plugin? or are you logged in your account? do you own those domains?
-
Sorry, I thought everyone sees this. I've added a link via imgur as the Moz interface asks for; hopefully it shows up correctly after I post this!
-
Do you mind screenshoting it and uploading it here?
When I search locally I don't think I see what you are describing.

Webmaster tools search analytics - can you get current position (not average ) to show with out having to click through
We are working using Webmaster tools position, then pages. Looking at the average position to improve our page rankings. A lot of our pages are already moving up quite well, so the average is not reflecting the current position Is there a way we can see the current page rank rather that an average, with out having to click through each search, (position, then pages etc.) it is quite time consuming.

Checking in on Local
So it's been a few months since my most favorite thread "Local Really?" (http://moz.com/community/q/local-really) and I have worked tirelessly deleting duplicate citations, fixing incorrect NAP, and adding new citations for the two different locations my client works from. I have added a second Google Plus Local page and verified it as well and linked it back to the page for that location on my site. I have added Schema.org markup on each of the pages relating to the locations with the full address and correct NAP. I research with whitespark.ca to find new possibilities and compare with listings ranking highly. I feel like I have worked non-stop at this but unfortunately I have still seen 0 results from my examining everything. The Google listing is still on page 14 / 20 and seems to be stuck there. Is this fairly normal? I'm just at a lost as I have honestly tried to adhere to all the comments and advice given by everyone here (again while seeing the competition doing none of those things.) I think I'm just looking for that little "things look right just give it time and continue" or even "no! you're doing it wrong still" Thanks in advance!

Google+Local Reviews have gone? Any ideas?
Hi Since Google switched places to Google+ Local lots of the reviews that were on the listing are no longer showing? A customer of mine brought up the point when visiting the store today, when they are logged into Google they can see their review under Your Activity, however when they are logged out the only review is listed under 1 Review from everyone and the review is no longer being shown? Any ideas on what is going on? Also with local search / places optimisation has the best practice guidelines changed now that is transformed into Google+ Local? If so it would be great to share any links on getting the most out of this new + local service

Does adding the city to your business name in a Places page help or harm Local SEO?
Hi, All! Another local SEO question... For one of our clients, the title on their Place page is <official business="" name=""><city>. Example: John's Sporting Goods Detroit. Now, most citations will say "John's Sporting Goods." Is having "Detroit" as part of the business name in Places problematic (NAP inconsistency) and we should remove it, or is it helpful for ranking for "sporting goods detroit" or is it neither?</city></official> Thanks! Aviva

Can or should you use a residential address for Google places?
My first thought is no. But I am definitely looking for some loopholes. If there is any way to make this work, please share your thoughts.
