Web Page Refresh
-
Hi there,
we redesign our Website, changing it for a jquery based version. This new design is much more usable and nice for our users, however the average page views for user decreased a lot. Basically this is due to the fact that once the user is logged in, it spends most of the time in the same Web form which is updated through jquery without refreshing it.
We were thinking about adding a meta refresh tag, or ad some javascript for getting this task done in order to get the relation page views/visitor increased.
Do you think refreshing the page every 4 minutes could be penalized by Google (or other Search engines) ?
Which should be the interval between refresh ?
Would it be better to make it very explicit (i.e. adding a meta refresh tag) or using a kind of hide javascript ?
We want to increase the pageviews but of course, we don't want to get penalized

Meta refresh is not a good idea.
here is a bit more on it -
You should not do that. There is no benefit to users and no need for you to artificially inflate page views per visit or anything. If users are spending time on your site and not bouncing or having any kind of trouble then what is the point of refreshing?
You will know that the page views are fake so what purpose does it serve?
-
What is the point of the refresh? It seems the sole purpose is to manipulate your metrics in which case that would be a bad idea. Do your users receive any benefit from this refresh?

I updated it in google search console, but it keeps pulling the first few lines from the page content instead, which isn't really an attention grabbing sentence?? Any ideas? Here's the page http://thumannagency.com/personal-insurance/home-insurance This is what my Title/ description comes up as... Home page keyword in url
I have been looking into SEO for a few weeks now trying to perfect a homepage. Going through various sources on MOZ, and other examples out there on the internet, I keep seeing that you should have your keyword in the URL of the page. The homepage is the page most people want to rank the highest in google searches, however, you cannot put the keyword in the URL as most home page URLs are simply /. Should I actually make the home like this: www.example.com/key-word-example? I would imagine this would not be the normal for many users and would seem like it's not the home page.

Is there any decent web browser that still displays the full page title at the top of the page?
I just updated to the latest version of Firefox on my Mac and saw that they now hide most of the page title in the browser tab, like Chrome and Safari. I like to be able to see the full page title at all times (for reasons I'm sure you all understand) and that's pretty much the only reason I stuck with Firefox all these years. Now I'm looking for an alternative – any suggestions?

Brand keyword is on every page
Suppose a website is devoted to a selling a modest number of products that are sold under one brand name. For example, the site might have product pages for Chevy Camaro, Chevy Suburban, and Chevy Volt, and many other pages related to Chevy. Chevy is in the domain name and on virtually every page. Competitors are also selling Chevy's and you want to rank well on the keyword "Chevy". One SEO rule is limit a keyword to one optimized page, and if it appears on other pages, minimize the use of the keyword on other pages, and pass links to the optimized page. However, it can be really challenging to write prose without using the brand name, particularly if the brand name is of the form "brand training method" or "brand learning center". The other pages can't say "training method" or "learning center". They need to say "brand training method", etc. What are the tactics to rank for a brand name when it appears on virtually every page? Best,

Duplicate pages
Hi, I am using a CMS that generates dynamic urls that according to the SeoMoz tool will be indexed as duplicate pages. The pages in questions are forms, blog-posts etc. that are not crucial to achieve ranking for. I do worry though about the consequences of having 20 (non-duplicate)pages with static urls and about 100 pages that are duplicates with dynamic urls. What consequences will this have for the speed that the robots crawl the site and could there be negative effects on ranking for the entire domain?
