Is this SEO correct?
-
Please view website http://www.staddonsbeds.co.uk. In the footer is the keywords the client is aiming for. These pages have been created separately to the sitemap. Is this tactic and pages white hat seo or is this considered black hat seo such as gateway pages?
Could you please confirm
Thanks Paul

Thanks for your input on this matter been very useful
Thanks again

I like to build brands. If I have a site at http://www.staddonsbeds.co.uk with a name Staddons Bed Centre then I provide relatively little content on the home page and focus on my brand name, Staddons Bed Centre.Your site says "since 1919" so I have to think if they been in business 90+ years they have built some brand traffic.
The internal pages would then focus keywords such as /beds-nottingham
I also strongly prefer clean URLs so I would drop the .htm extension. where possible.

Thanks for this Ryan. I have just taken over on this site so I was checking things over and you have confirmed my thoughts. Very much appreciated.
One last question of your opinion
For your main keyword would you target this on the home page or like a seperate page such as beds-nottingham.htm
-
Yes, you understand perfectly.
I took a look at your page and it is improved. There are additional improvements you can make. For example, your target phrase is "Buy beds online". It is your title and H1 tag, but you should use it at least once in your content. Presently the phrase is not used at all on the page.
You offer the following text snippet: "Our advice, wide range of products and delivery service make buying a bed....." Perhaps you can tack on the word "online" after "bed" so a form of the phrase appears once on the page. Ideally you would like to expand a bit and have an exact phrase match once and then perhaps add variations.

Thanks for your reply

Hi Ryan
So what you are saying is that a keyword should only be targetting for one page so with the tactic being used at the moment the two pages are conflicting with each other and might not be getting the best result.
Are you able to view the site again and see if the changes been made are better.
Thanks again

They just look like footer links to me?

Thanks

Hi Ryan.
Thank you for replying and your notes. Very much appreciated

This is not blackhat
-
Hi Paul.
Black hat SEO occurs when a site attempts to manipulate search rankings through tactics which do not benefit users but are intended solely for a ranking benefit. These tactics violate search engine (i.e. Google) policies.
What I see on the web site you shared is a normal web page with a footer which has links to other pages on the website. What exactly are you concerned about being black hat?
Site owners are welcome to add footers to their site's web pages. Those footers are allowed to have links to other pages on their site. Am I missing something?
On a separate note, I would share the page is not optimized very well for SEO. The page title is "Beds Nottingham | Buy Beds Online | Staddons Bed Centre Nottingham". Ideally you want to target one or two terms for a page. Three is stretching your ranking ability quite thin. Additionally, the title indicates which keywords are the focus of your web page; accordingly, you are indicating "Beds Nottingham" is a focus of this web page. In your footer "Beds Nottingham" is being used as anchor text to another page. This dual use of the same keyword sends a mixed message to search engines. Which page from the site should be listed when a user searches for "Beds Notthingham"? Your home page or your /beds-nottingham page?

Is there any SEO impact to using "www" vs. non-"www" preferred domain name?
My client has been using "www" with his domain and before I took over, has used it in marketing etc. I typically don't use "www" in my wordpress setup, and set non-www as the preferred domain in google analytics and google search console. Does it make any difference? Especially when www resolves to non-www? I appreciate some guidance with this.

Does IP Blacklist cause SEO issues?
Hi, Our IP was recently blacklisted - we had a malicious script sending out bulk mail in a Joomla installation. Does it hurt our SEO if we have a domain hosted on that IP? Any solid evidence? Thanks.

Press Release SEO. More than 90 press released in prweb. How good for seo
One of a competition sites known to us has published 90 press releases of all upcoming car models with PRWEB, PR7, DA 97 in last 4 months. All with different anchor based keywords and links. The page authority too is very high in some of them around 70 Though they might have had spent a sum, does this really influence from SEO perspective. If yes, can 10 press releases with PR Newswire which has PR8 and DA as 95 can be good if we consider doing this with all unique anchor text & links

Is my SEO strategy solid moving forward (post panda update) or am I doing risky things that might hurt my sites down the road?
Hey all, WIhen I first started doing SEO, I was encouraged by several supposed experts that it was a good idea to buy links from "respectable" sources and as well make use of SEO experimentation offered on Fiverr. I did that a lot for the clients I represented not knowing if this was going to hurt. But now after the latest Google shift, I am realizing that this was stupid and thus deserving of the ranking drops I have received. In the aftermath, I want to list out here what I am doing now to try to build better and stronger rankings for my sites using white hat techniques only... Below is a list of what I'm doing. Please let me know if any of these are bad choices and I will immediately dump them. Also, If i am not including some good options, please let me know that too. I am really embarrassed and humbled by this and could use whatever help you can offer. Thanks in advance for your help... What am I doing now? *Writing quality articles for external blogs with keyword links back to sites *Taking the above articles and spinning them at SEOLINKVINE to create several articles *Writing quality articles for every site's internal blog and using keywords to link out to other sites that are on different servers - All articles are original, varied and not duplicate content. *Writing quality, relevant articles and submitting them to places like Ezine *Signing clients up for Facebook, Yelp, Twitter, etc so they have a social presence *Working to fix mistakes with onsite issues (mirror sites, duplicate page titles, etc.) *Writing quality keyword-rich unique content on each page of each site *Submitting URL listings and descriptions to directories like JoeAnt, REALS and business.com (Any other good ones that people can recommend that give good link juice?) *Doing competitive research and going after highly authoritative links that our competitors have That is about it... HELP!!! Thanks again

Help for a complete SEO newbie!
Hi all, I've just joined seomoz today to try and further my very young education on SEO. My major problem is i need my site to rank high in local search engines but feel that none of the customers read much of the content as i am a landscaper and feel they just search "landscaping in Newcastle" and are immediatly looking for a contact number to arrange a free estimate. I dont do any online sales, its just to generate leads. I've spent alot of time building a better site than my local competitors but they still out rank me on alot of keywords i.e. "Driveways in Gateshead" My question is do i keep adding more and more content hoping this will work long term or do i link build with anchor text etc or both? I cannot believe they still out rank me when i feel i have more links more anchor text and a load more origional content and images. I think it may be that my site is still under 1 year old. I feel i am boucing from content to link building then trying something else without any real knowlegde of what i really should be doing or what should be the priority at this young stage for my site. I have managed to get on page 1 of google for most of my keywords in local searches ( obviously not national) but still feel its been more down to luck and effort than actually knowing what i am doing when it comes to site and offsite optimization Any help, tips etc would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks John
