Is there SEO value in having images referenced on other sites?
-
We use Amazon to host our assets (images, videos, PDFs, etc). These assets can be used across multiple sites we own and we reference them appropriately via our CMS.
example asset URL:
https://s3.amazonaws.com/lawgical/assets/data/539/original.png
We have an infographic we recently distributed that is hosted on Amazon. Obviously we want any link value to go back to our primary URL where we laid out the infographic, however some of the infographic sites are just referencing the above source image URL.
Are we losing SEO / link value by not have the infographic hosted on our domain? Do search engines count these image references as a "link"?
For your reference...

Well then it does. I often see images counting as links for many websites.

i ran the above infographic URL in Raven's link checker to look for the amazon URL and it seemed to "count" it as a link....

I have seen a few sites that can not get into the Bing index, that were mainly content hosted elsewhere, like images from amazon, video from youtube, jQuery from other places. After you too all that away there was not much left. So it led me to believe that if it is over down it can be seen as thin content.

Well there are a few aspects to it. When u are hosting your images elsewhere people will find them via google images on amazon. But you still get your links from them. Or actually you can check whether or not u get any link value with the open site explorer.

Display ads and SEO
I have a section(no. of webpages with content) on my site with display ads. The site is mainly for UK visitors. I want to show ads to UK visitors but not US visitors. Rest of the content will be the same for UK and US. There will just be 1 page with same UrL for US and UK. Hence, no href lang tags are being used.

Is there any correlation between display ads and SEO? Would not showing ads in US cause any issues for bots or do bots consider display ads and SEO as two completey different aspects. Asking as Google bot crawls from the US.1 -
What's the best way for users to upload their images to my wordpress site to promote UGC
I have looked at lots of different plugins and wanted a recommendation for an easy way for patients of ours to upload pictures of them out partying and having fun and looking beautiful so future users can see the final results instead of sometimes gory or difficult to understand before and after images. I'd like to give them the opportunity to write captions (like facebook or insta posts and would offer them incentives to do so. I don't want it to be too complicated for them or have too many steps or barriers but I do want it to look nice and slick and modern. Also do you think this would have a positive impact on SEO? I was also thinking of a Q&A app where dentists could get Q&A emails and respond - i've been doing AMA sessions and they've been really successful and I would like to bring it into out site and make it native. Thanks in advance 🙂

Why are these blackhat sites so successful?
Here's an interesting conundrum. Here are three sites with their respective ranking for "dental implants [city]:" http://dentalimplantsvaughan.ca - 9 (on google.ca) http://dentalimplantsinhonoluluhi.com - 2 (on google.com) http://dentalimplantssurreybc.ca - 7 (on google.ca) These markets are not particularly competitive, however, all of these sites suffer from: Duplicate content, both internally and across sites (all of this company's implant sites have the same exact content, minus the bio pages and the local modifier). Average speed score. No structured data No links And these sites are ranking relatively quickly. The Vaughan site went live 3 months ago. But, what's boggling my mind is that they rank on the first page at all. It seems they're doing the exact opposite of what you're supposed to do, yet they rank relatively well.

How Often is Site Crawled
Good morning- I saw some errors in my first crawl and immediately removed the pages from my website. I then re-created my XML sitemap and uploaded to Google. The question I have is will the site be crawled to recognize the changes in the next day or so? The pages were just placed on the site as test pages and never removed. The initial crawl that notified me it was done found the errors and were removed. Thanks for your help. Peter

Image filenames
A developer asked me if it's ok to add a string of characters (output by Sharepoint) to the image filename. Not a good idea for SEO I said....I've already suggested using keywords for filename and including keyword descriptions in the alt and title attributes. It's a SharePoint shopping cart. Does anyone have any suggestions, experience or workarounds for this?
