Your opinion of link building strategy
-
Hi all,
I just started working on the optimization of highly competitive keywords on one website. I already started posting articles in reputable directories, but as you know, more quality links are needed. To do that I created the following strategy: (see the uploaded image or http://i.imgur.com/9HCiM.png)
The idea is to buy new domain and build page rank to this domain by other 3,4 domains that I will buy with PR3. Those 3 domains will contain low quality text generated by spinner just to keep that PR. Then those 3 domains will give PR to the newly created website which will contain only professionally written information and sometimes will give links to me. At the end I will get high quality links.
I know it's hard work, but posting PR articles will not be enough. I will continue to spy the competition via SEOMoz OSE but for now that is the idea that I have for quality links.

I agree with the others, this is NOT an approach I would recommend. I have been doing link building and SEO for 10+ years. Trust me you might see some short term benefits, but this approach is not a long term strategy.
Since you said "I know it's hard work" - you seem to be willing to put in the effort to do it right. I would recommend creating 2 or 3 really valuable pieces of content for your website. Then promote that content through bloggers, forums, press releases and all sorts of social media. You might be surprised at the quantity and quality links this may attract. It takes an act of faith, but if the content is good, the links will come.
Then create a couple anchor text links from your content to the appropriate pages on your website.
Give it a try. You might just get hooked on building link attraction to your website.

To echo what EGOL said, Google is an intelligent search engine, and it will sniff out your tactic.
Concentrate on the basics - write quality content and promote it aggressively. This will be far more cost and time effective than sitting there and developing manufactured links.

Thanks for the post. My goal was not to fool Google, but rather an alternative approach of link-building. Although I agree completely on what you wrote, it's a little bit harder to build incredible content that everyone would love to share as we see in all seo videos when you are writing on some strictly technical topic. I guess that just means that I will need to work harder to accomplish my goals, the results will come inevetably.

I hope that all of my competitors are putting lots of their time and money into these methods.
Instead of looking at how you can fool google consider what you can do that will build the quality, credibility, reputation and value-to-visitors of your primary site.
The best way to defeat a competitor is to do something that is clearly superior.

As I wrote on the post above yours, sadly not smart enough some times. Some of my competitors have ridiculously spammy links and are not banned. I can see this by OpenSiteExplorer.
I will continue to do the things strictly on the white side and will wait for the next panda to give some justice.
-
As I said, the blog from which my site will get links will contain only unique and highly informative text to guarantee that links I get from it are good. As black as it may be, I am seeing that my competition is doing directly the other thing, buying a sh*tty domains and linking directly from them. To avoid that I am doing the other thing, firstly creating a new blog and then when get some PR will start building some links. To this point all of my links are highly quality from partners, sites in my business area and articles in reputable directories. Sadly it's not enough, the competition is doing the "dirty" way, so I am just looking for the middle.
Anyway thanks for the post.

Google is smart... this will be recognized as "manufactured links".

Seems like you're going the black-hat way... (which is negative!)
Some words in your post make me worry about the long term succes of your efforts:
-
3,4 domains that I will buy with PR3
-
low quality text generated by spinner
-I know it's hard work : You think the things above are hard work??? Try real link building strategies, then you will know what's hard work!!!
I suggest you read some posts on SEOmoz blog to see what are link building techniques and strategies, and then work out a strategy for your website.

Best Methods - Link Building
We are having more and more "new" customers coming to us who have been hit by various algorithms imposed by google. After we have run a site health check and corrected everything, we plan and come up with a link development plan which suits the clients needs. Much of out link development work is safe comprising of; 1. Guest Blog Posts - where we develop creative content with the customer to publish. 2. Industry blog posts - where bloggers write about i.e. "the company" 3. Social media - posting pictures, commenting on forums, etc 4. Paid directories with authority We don't develop links in any other way and it brings results in the long term. Is anyone out there doing something else? Link building can sometimes be like walking on a tight rope. Thanks and happy holidays Gary - Elite Group Marketing London

Link Building by Guest Posting.... But How many posts?
Hello I am a small Computer/Tech Blogger (part time) from India and following are my Domain stats: PR: 4 Alexa Rank: 65K *** Open Site Explorer Page Authority: 46/100** *** Open Site Explorer Domain Authority: 35/100** *** Open Site Explorer Linking Root Domain: 98** *** Open Site Explorer Total Links: 1196** *** mR: 4.83** *** mT: 5.81** Domain Age: 3 Years and 4 Months Blog Posts I made: around 580 I never spent ANY time in Link Building, only wrote content for my blog. I only attached my Blog URL in some BIG forums as a signature (never meant for link building, but later found that the signature section of some forums are DOFOLLOW) and very few sites linked/links to me/my articles. Reasons why I am asking question here: Majority of my blog posts ranks very well (top 10) on Google.co.in, but on Google.com, most of them are present from Page 2 - Page 10 - I want to rank my posts well on Google.com, Google.co.uk etc. SERP of Big sites remains static, but my position shuffles a lot. Sometimes any particular blog post of mine is on first page (on a particular Google Domain) and after some days/months, it shifts to 2nd or 3rd page! This happens a lot! As soon as Google Updates pagerank, many recent articles of mine will get atleast PageRank 2 or 3, but when pagerank in updated again, the pagerank of these very same articles drops! Very few articles of mine have static pagerank I am not a master in Computers/Tech and am not the first one on the internet to discover and write something UNIQUE/NEW, but I try to write detailed and good quality tutorials. If main keywords of my posts matches with the keywords of BIG domains, I never rank on first page, no matter I have written more detailed content compared to the content of these BIG sites! Google sends me traffic to majority of my blog posts by means of random keywords! I have decided to do Guest Posting on some blogs of similar niche and with Open Site Explorer Domain Authority ranging from 60 to 80. I will try my level best to write good content for them and they also allows Author Bio with a backlink to my Blog Homepage (in my case, the anchor text for this link will be my Blog Name) I want to ask following questions: Is one guest post with a backlink to my Homepage is enough? or I have to write more content for same domain? I have heard that, if you link to a website/blog which is linking to you, Google don't pass any juice to either of them because of reciprocal linking! - Is this true? The websites on which I am planning to do guest posts are very well established and trusted websites. Some of them have Open Site Explorer Domain Authority of 80+. Also, I never linked to them nor I am planning to do so! I request SEO Gurus here to please help me and I apologize in advance if I am wrong at any point. MY SEO concepts are not much clear and I am a newbie 🙂 Thanks and Regards

Link Building Question
Hello, Here is my situation - i'm number 10 for a moderate keyword and i want to rank higher . Using the Open Site Explorer i studied the links of 12 competitors and noticed the following : There are only 2 sites that are doing 100% white hat - one of them is on first page only because has a big,big domain autority, the other because is a brand name. The rest of my competitors are on first page using directory submissions (i discovered 200+ directories - and not counting those that are not indexed.), buying links (for ex check these 2 :http://www.dentistsburbank.com/links , http://www.dentistinaustin.com/links/ - there are 50+ more sites like this), spam forums and article submissions. For my site i tried to get only quality links, tried link bait, quality articles - etc(and this for more that 18 months). Unfortunately it seems that my efforts are not enough(seems that links from military.com are not enough to beat 200 low quality directories) and i want to ask the community what should i do. Shall i invest in directory submissions (it will cost around $1500) ? If not in directories in what shall i invest the money ? Are there any companies able to create successful link baits ? Shall i report the paid links hoping that Google will take action ? Any other ideas 🙂
