What is the best way to get unique links?
-
I do SEO for an online store that sells vacuum cleaners. I write a lot of articles for yahoo, hub pages, etc as well as promoted press releases. But I'm looking to get some more unique links. I'm looking for any tips I can get.
I've done tons of directories that have actually got a couple keywords on the front page of google but I'm looking to shy away from link directories.
I write a few articles every week.
I also try and create new social networking sites for the business.
Does anyone have any new ideas?

Maybe I didn't understand: but if it's a PDF, it's not html and the source is not visible–so how does that help your link? Or are people taking the info from the PDF and typing it into their site?
It sounds like a great idea, just want to understand.

Can you please share a sample PDF in what format we need to create. How other people can be interested to put our PDF on their website. Please suggest.

I found unless your infographic is really good and you push it correctly it doesn't do much for you

We've actually been doing some work on some Air Purifiers so I created my first infographic. You can tell it's my first time doing an infographic though.

Love this idea! Thanks for the help! I'll try this out.

I've actually just started emailing mom bloggers a couple days ago as well as emailing other sites that do reviews of vacuum cleaners. I'm trying to get into guest blogging but I'm not sure how.

Yes, We do a blog on our site to answer the questions that we hear most frequently. Lately I've been focusing on mainly on page optimization(looking for pages without meta tags and fixing, adding descriptions for all categories of products, and we add hundreds of new products every day) One thing that we offer is the parts diagrams and schematics for almost every make and model of vacuum cleaner.

How about writing some content about cleaning, organizing and sourcing some good mom bloggers to guest post on? Love the idea of doing an infographic too. You could probably do something pretty funny given the topic.

Going along with what EGOL has said here -- are you giving people a reason to link to your site in the way of excellent content on your website? Not just content below pictures that's for the search engines, but content for users.

Create a great guide, info-graphic , tool, or great on site contect that serves to be linked to - then contact people and let them know it exists
Guest posts contests and coupons work well as well .

My favorite one is creating a PDF of a resource for other people to use on their website. Inside the article I will have my website linked from the keyword phrase I want. They upload the document, because it's helpful, and I get a link.
Truth be told, I just started doing this, but I've had a good response so far.
Another option is trading a SEO white paper in exchange for a link.

You seem to be doing a lot of writing.... but is any of this going on your own website?
-
Can you give away products? Maybe target a few influential bloggers and send them a product sample for review?

Best SEO practice to redirect affiliate link
Hello, I got an affiliate program on my website, that redirects the affiliate link to the main site like: site.com/ads/aff_code/ -> site.com/ (The redirect is done using a 301 status code.) On the redirect process the site stores a cookie to track the affiliate sale. Will Google and others SE follow this permanent redirect, transferring the relevance of this affiliate link to my main site? In other words, if an affiliate does something wrong (like spams), does the bad reputation will be transferred to my main site? Is there a better way to do that from a SEO standpoint? Thanks,

What is the best way to get links now ?
I have been working for a long time in the industry now and I was away for some time. It seems that now after the google updates..It is difficult to do link building. I used to do quality white hat link exchange to very related sites. For example, I own a travel site about Paris (www.simplyparis.org) and I would exchange links with other travel sites about France or/and Paris. It was good for the visitors and SEO.. Now what is the best link building technique ? What should I do to promote my site now?

What benefit does a site with a low DA get from someone guest posting who links to a site with a high DA?
I'm relatively new to link building and although this may be an obvious question I can't seem to find an answer anywhere even after searching Google.

New website, small business, niche market --- what's my best link building strategy?
Hi everyone, We are a small company manufacturing a niche product (indoor playground equipment), our new English website (www.funlandiaplaygrounds.com) has just been launched 2 months ago, before that we didn't even have a website in English. As the international sales manager of such a small company, I have to do all the international marketing jobs including SEO, but before this I'm almost a noob on SEO. I've just started the linking building work for our website, after a research on the links of our highest ranked competitors, I have found out that almost ALL of the external links of them come from directories and purchased links, many links are very dubious, please see the open explorer results below: http://www.opensiteexplorer.org/links?page=1&site=www.spiplay.co.uk&sort=page_authority&filter=&source=&target=page&group=1 http://www.opensiteexplorer.org/links?site=www.softplay.com%2F http://www.opensiteexplorer.org/links.html?page=1&site=www.china-cheer.com&sort=page_authority&filter=&source=&target=page&group=1 http://www.opensiteexplorer.org/links?site=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.aileplay.com%2F http://www.opensiteexplorer.org/links?site=internationalplayco.com%2F The search keywords is: indoor playground equipment. According to the latest SEO theory and numerous posts I've read here, links from these directories carry very low value, and solely relying on these links may even cause penalty to the website, but the reality is, all these competitors rank on the top as a result of these "spammy" links. For example this website www.aileplay.com that has the highest PA of 64 and rank on the first page on the search result of indoor playground equipment, has tons of spammy links. That is the situation we are facing now, then my questions is: As a small business in such a niche market, what is our best strategy to rank well in a reasonable time, say 3 months to 6 months? I do not think our competitors are very strong and hard to beat, I believe we will beat them in content creation for sure, but what should we do in link building? should we start to get directory links now, as it obviously works for them? Or should we first create more attractive content, then use these content to get natural links BEFORE we submit for directory, as recommended by most link experts here? If so should we just sit back doing nothing before the link worthy content is created and natural links starts to come in? I highly appreciate any comments! DSG_clan

How can a not so passionate subject get links? Need ideas?
Our client owns a very big pest control site. They are competing with pestmall, orkin, terminex to name a few. Almost all of there competitors are spamming like crazy. For some of their competitors it is working. They get natural links very slowly. Maybe 1 natural link every week. How can a not so passionate subject get links? Here was my ideas. Offer a tool to pest control sites for a link in return. The flaw is most pest control company owners are not tech savy and if they are they have hired it out. I just really need some ideas. Thank you.

How does it take after getting links discovered by google to see increase in rankings?
Five of my friends linked to my site from their website and updated their sites through Google Webmaster tools right after linking to my site. Though the Google spider crawled the site as soon as they updated their pages, it still took about three weeks for my site to get a bump in the serps from their links. Why does it take that long for links to kick in and what is the average time it normally takes to see an increase in ranking from links once Google discovers them? Thanks mozzers! Ron

Link to those that link to you? Worthwhile?
We have thousands and thousands of sites that link to a domain we are working on, many with low page authority and high domain (bloggers, forum posts, etc). Has anyone experimented with linking to the pages that link to you (not from your site) but from other means in an effort to boost their quality? I'm not sure what method we would use, maybe some relevant blog comments or social votes. But curious if this could be an effective method.

Which is the best way to promote a non profit microsite among 15 different friend editorial portals?
Hi, we're a b2b publishing house and we 15 different b2b portals in several industries. There is a non profit org, that has created a microsite keyword rich (www.5permilledifferenza.net). We would like to help it with our portals. We've placed banner on them, but now we would like to write posts in each portal that contain the keyword. Now the point is that our editors cannot write every time an original blogpost for that. The non profit has given us a sample text, beatiful and quite long, with some anchor text in it. Which is the best strategy then? It's a new situation we've never encountered. I have in mind the following choices just say to our editors to post it customizing it when possible. we would then have 15 pages quite similar in 15 different portals of different industries that point to the same links make it short, with only one anchor text, and then have 15 different pages allow the editor posting only if the editors are 'inspired' and could write an original content (we would have then just 2 or 3 post with link) upload the same pdf, with the same links built in, on every portal (that could be connected with either of the previous) Thanks!
