About Duplicate Content found by SEOMOZ... that is not duplicate
-
Hi folks,
I am hunting for duplicate content based on SEOMOZ great tool for that
I have some pages that are mentioned as duplicate but I cant say why.
They are video page. The content is minimalistic so I guess it might be because all the navigation is the same but for instance
http://www.nuxeo.com/en/resource-center/Videos/Nuxeo-World-2010/Nuxeo-World-2010-Presentation-Thierry-Delprat-CTO
and
http://www.nuxeo.com/en/resource-center/Videos/Nuxeo-World-2010/Nuxeo-World-2010-Presentation-Cheryl-McKinnon-CMO
are mentioned as duplicate.
Any idea?
Is it hurting?
Cheers,

Thanks Kane, Aran,
We will try to do that!

I agree with Kane, in addition to the description, why not produce a transcript of any spoken words in the videos? (not everyone has speakers plugged in).
If its good enough for SEOmoz whiteboard fridays its good enough for me
-
I only see one sentence before each video that has unique content on the pages. I ran the two URLs through this tool: http://www.webconfs.com/similar-page-checker.php and it reports 98% similarity. I'm guessing it's based entirely on text, which is likely what SEOmoz is based on.
The good news is that it's easy to fix. One video is 20 minutes long, and one video is 40 minutes long. Write at least a paragraph of good description about what the topic of each video is, and add that to the page.
Bonus points if you write more than one paragraph for each page, and 100x bonus points if you provide a transcription of the speech.
Once you do that the duplicate content error will go away, and you'll have better luck with getting traffic to those pages if that's a goal.

301 Redirects - But still duplicate content?
Our website domain website.com redirects to website.com/en (since it's in English). Therefore, all pages on website.com redirects to website.com/en. In my Moz analytics, it says I have duplicate content, and lists all of these pages. Didn't the 301 redirects take care of the duplicate content? Or do I still have to add canonical tags?

Duplicate Page Title - although there are differences
Hello, I get duplicate page titles errors on pages in which there are little differences. For example: C++ Online Test for Seniors C# Online Test for Seniors I assume that from some reason the ++ and the # are removed when SEOMoz crawler checks for duplicate page titles. As you may know C# and C++ means two different programming languages. Should I do something about it or is it a bug in the crawler?

Does SEOmoz give a way to know what link on what page produces the 404 errors that SEOmoz is telling me I have??
SEOmoz gives me a report of 404 errors on my site. Do they give a way to know from what link on what page produces the error?

SEOMoz Link Analysis Not Updating?
Hi there, I am wondering why the Link Analysis in SEOMoz takes so long to recognise new back-links. I have had the same figures showing for months when I know that I have added a lot more backlinks that are showing in my Google WebMaster account and I have also proven exist by searching directly in Google's search engine. How often does the Link Analysis section update itself? Are these figures worth following at all or are they useless? Thanks!

Crawl reports urls with duplicate content but its not the case
Hi guys!
Moz Pro | | MakMour
Some hours ago I received my crawl report. I noticed several records with urls with duplicate content so I went to open those urls one by one.
Not one of those urls were really with duplicate content but I have a concern because website is about product showcase and many articles are just images with href behind them. Many of those articles are using the same images so maybe thats why the seomoz crawler duplicate content flag is raised. I wonder if Google has problem with that too. See for yourself how it looks like: http://by.vg/NJ97y
http://by.vg/BQypE Those two url's are flagged as duplicates...please mind the language(Greek) and try to focus on the urls and content. ps: my example is simplified just for the purpose of my question. <colgroup><col width="3436"></colgroup>

How do I find the corresponding duplicate content pages from my SEOmoz report?
Once I have run my report and the duplicate content pages come up, is there a way to find out which pages have the duplicate content on them? I have one URL but where can I find the duplicate content that corresponds to it? Thanks Barry

SEOMoz Crawl Warnings, do they really hurt rankings?
SEOMoz reports 250 crawl warnings on my site. In most cases its too long title tags, with 4 of them its missing meta description. SEOMoz says it will hurt my rankings? However, I'm sure a recent whiteboard Friday contradicted this. So what is it?

How do you use SEOmoz
I'm a newbie here. I've got a week left on my free trail. I really like SEOmoz, I might even love it a bit. 🙂 I'm trying to justify the cost. I usually don't spend money on my Internet Marketing. I've done it through finally buying some tools to help me get there. Massive change in the last year. I'm a long ways from getting rich YET though. 🙂 I've gone from $30 a month to $1000 a month in a year. So I think I'm on my way now. I'm trying to figure out why I should continue my subscription and actually start paying for it. If I were a developer I can certainly see why but the cost would so go way up. 🙂 I'm in the lowest level package with only five websites. I have 10 I'm working on. I know that's probably five to many at one time. I'm having a little trouble justifying the cost at this time. At my income level $100 a month is significant. I can see the value of seeing where my competition has backlinks. Sometimes my competition is Cnet. haha Well, I can beat them on a specific page at times. Hmm, can I search the URL list for links? Perhaps i can if I export it. That didn't occur to me. Now that could be of use if I can find my keywords. If their link is on Amazon though, I'm going to have trouble getting a link there. 🙂 Maybe I should work on less competitive links but I made good money last month with one page that was beating them. WAS beating them. How do you use SEOmoz? How do you justify the cost, that is offset the expense. If its not making me money i don't see the value. I can get a lot of this information for free but it sure is easier to get it here. Which saves me time. And the other tool i use isn't that good and not always reliable and slow. I've got a week left on my free trail. I had decided to let it go but now I'm reconsidering. $100 is a lot for me and I need to spend more on SEO outsourcing. I wonder if I wouldn't be better off dropping it for a while and then coming back. This certainly isn't mean to be a critical post at all. I'm looking for reasons to stay and make better use of it. Thanks for the thoughts, Rusty
