Zemanta for Foreign Markets
-
Hi,
I am interested in using a service such as Zemanta to help with my link building. However, my primary markets are not in the US.
Does anyone have suggestions for similar options focused on foreign markets?
Also, how much do links from the US benefit other English markets such as UK and AU?
Thanks!
Best,
Sara

I can't help with finding an international alternative to Zemanta, because it's highly specialized and one-of-a-kind, but I can help with the second.
Here's how you should think of international sites. If you have a blog about camping, and you get a link from a site about pets, it's considered irrelevant. Links from international sites are the same way. They'll pass value just like any link, but they won't pass relevancy, so they won't help as much with moving up in your country's SERPs (only from a relevancy standpoint; as I said, they'll still pass value which will help you move up). They'll help a little bit more if it's the same language, but not as much as links from sites in your own country.
Don't worry, I've got proof. I did an experiment. I tried to get an exact keyword match site to rank in Google India getting links from only sites in the US. The result? I ranked great in the US SERPs, but not nearly as well in the Google India SERPs. I still ranked decent (#9 in India, #2 in US), because the links were of the same language (both India and US speak English), but it just didn't have the same effect.

Content Marketing and Link Building Strategy in Industrial B2B
We struggle link building because engineering sector has few blogs and is much more traditional than many industries. I've just had a new idea on how to do this and wanted to bounce it off people to help refine it and improve it. Search LinkedIn for "content marketing" or similar Refine by Industry etc Ask people on resulting list to guest post on our blog - which is focused on engineers in our sector Then..... For us it boosts our blog content with high quality posts that are interesting for our audience and maybe some traffic benefit. For them it provides SEO benefits and possibly some market exposure. How can I parlay this into getting a link back as well? What else can I do to make it more effective? Cheers Denis

Content Marketing and how it effects Rankings
Hi there everyone! I have what I think is a simple question, but one I can't fully understand the answer to. If I had a homepage that I wanted to optimize for the keyword, e.g. "Second Hand Cars", so I add the keyword in the page title and text etc etc. But I still don't rank well for it. So I turn to content marketing and create some content on my site's blog about new cars, sports cars, and of course second hand cars, with some great content and anchor text pointing back to the home page. Now here's my question, how does creating that content on a blog, or on someone's blog/website help my homepage rank higher for my chosen keyword? Surely it would just help the blog post rank higher? And if someone were to search for "Buy Secondhand cars", wouldn't my hypothetical blog post (with more shares and links than my home page) rank higher than the home page itself? If anyone can clear this up for me I'd be eternally grateful! Thanks in advance Cheers

Best Way to Market a White Paper
Hello everyone, I had to write a white paper for an entirely different purpose than to drive links, but it did come out very well and I think it would be a fantastic tool in my SEO efforts. What do you guys think is the best way to market a white paper? Obviously I will let our email subscribers know about it and place a link to it in a prominent place on the website, but if anyone has any extra ideas, I would love to hear them. Also, what is the best way to host it? Taking the Moz beginners guide for example, I would love to just put it on my server like http://static.seomoz.org/files/SEOmoz-The-Beginners-Guide-To-SEO-2012.pdf but is it necessary that I make it web-friendly like http://moz.com/beginners-guide-to-seo? Can the former do anything for SEO? What if there are links to and from the site? Any advice would be great. Thanks

Is Zemanta Still Safe
I have a quick question, I have been watching a conversation on Google+ where someone pointed out that they have found someone using Zemanta (free) but someone have republished the same article over and over to lots of websites. I think they mentioned 12 detected so far. He was concerned that these links would start to be considered spam because they are all identical content on different urls. I know Zemanta has been lauded as great and safe before, but John Mueller from Google has commented and stated that it could be considered a link scheme and therefore he "would not recommend" that it is used. Be good to hear some others thoughts on it! Paul

Zemanta Pricing
Hi Mozzers, I've been looking around online for some pricing for Zemanta, but have drawn a blank. It's a service that's been recommended by Rand in the past, and there are loads of users out there on the service. I know they will provide a price over the phone but right now I can't call them as a third party have us signed up already. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks

What white hat article marketing tactics do you use?
It seems there's a lot of negative connotations with the phrase "Article Marketing" as it's associated with spam, spinning, etc. I couldn't find anything other than that, which begs to ask, what are the white hat tactics that you use after you publish your article? What tools do you use to streamline the process? Social Bookmarking? RSS? Any methods you use to score quick backlinks? How do you get your content in front of bloggers?
