Bing indexing
-
Hello, people~
I want to discuss about Bing indexation.
I have a new web site which opened about 3 months ago.
Google has no problem to index my site and all pages within the site indexed by Google.
However, Bing and Yahoo is different story.
I used manual submission, Bing webmaster tool to let Bing know about the site.
However, Bing is not indexing my site yet.
I researched about it and found that my site should have some external links before I get index by Bing.
I check external links of my site with Google webmaster tool, SEOmoz tool and "link:" on Google.
All tools show different number as below.
-
Google webmaster Tool : more than 50
-
SEMoz site explorer : 5
-
link: on Google: none
Why all method of checking links are different and which on should most depend on?
Also how many links should I have in order to get index by Bing?
Could you people please share your opinion?

hi,
In my case indexation took around 2 months after my manual submission to bing index. It was a long time of nothing and one day blow up almost all pages in bing index and on very good positions.
Maybe it only need time.

It is not unusual for each search engine or differing tools like Open Site Explorer to show differing links. With OSE, moz does not have the resources of Google so they focus on presenting the better or higher value links and typically will show 20 to25% of what you will find in GWMT.
If you could give us a url it would be easier to give you real direction as to why it is not being indexed in Bing. Given that OSE is showing five links, it is odd that Bing would not have indexed the site.

Paginated pages are being indexed?
I have lots of paginated pages which are being indexed. Should I add the noindex tag to page 2 onwards? The pages currently have previous and next tags in place. Page one also has a self-referencing canonical.

Having Problems to Index all URLs on Sitemap
Hi all again ! Thanks in advance ! My client's site is having problems to index all its pages. I even bought the full extension of XML Sitemaps and the number of urls increased, but we still have problems to index all of them. What are the reasons? The robots.txt is open for all robots, we only prohibit users and spiders to enter our Intranet. I've read that duplicate content and 404's can be the reason. Anything else?

Sitemap indexation
3 days ago I sent in a new sitemap for a new platform. Its 23.412 pages but until now its only 4 pages (!!) that are indexed according to the Webmaster Tools. Why so few? Our stage-enviroment got indexed (more than 50K pages) in a few days by a mistake.

Speed up the process of removing URLs from Google Index
Hi guys, We have done some work to try to remove pages from Google index. We have done the following: 1. Noindex tag 2. Make pages returning a 404 response. Is there anyway to notify Google about these changes so we can speed up the process of removing these pages from Google index? Also regarding the URL removal tool, Google says that it's used to remove URLs from search results, does it mean the URLs are removed from their index too? Many thanks guys David

GWT indexing wrong pages
Hi SEOMoz I have a listings site. In a part of the page, I have 3 comboboxes, for state, county and city. On the change event, the javascript redirects the user to the page of the selected location. Parameters are passed via GET, and my URL is rewrited via htaccess. Example: http:///www.site.com/state/county/city.html The problem is, there is A LOT(more than 10k) of 404 errors. It is happenning because the crawler is trying to index the pages, sometimes WITHOUT a parameter, like http:///www.site.com/state//city.html I don't know how to stop it, and I don't wanna remove it, once it's very clicked by the users. What should I do?

Is this 404 page indexed?
I have a URL that when searched for shows up in the Google index as the first result but does not have any title or description attached to it. When you click on the link it goes to a 404 page. Is it simply that Google is removing it from the index and is in some sort of transitional phase or could there be another reason.
