good... or or do you prefer...<title>Patio designs - Water features - Brick patio - Greenville, Spartanburg, Simpsonville</title>
Thanks for your help,

You guys had a lot of Roger love for our Draw Roger contest a while back at http://www.pinterest.com/mozhq/draw-roger-contest-entries/, so I think that's when we got some swag from you too.
I don't watch cable, so thanks for pointing out the video. Great fun!

Thanks Keri for the tip - just asked again.
Great to hear our sweatshirts are keeping someone warm - 'tis the season. We don't send it out to just anyone you know. Must be one of our real fans
ICUMI - http://youtu.be/vfPgwQU6H8o you'll both get a good laugh! Take care!

Hi Gebby,
My husband is still keeping nice and warm in his Kars4Kids sweatshirt you guys sent over a couple of years ago! This is an old thread, and it's probably best to start a new thread for more visibility. Really do appreciate you searching through the archives first though!

Hi. I know a lot has changed since this response. However, generally wanted to know if targeting locally however kws in local area do not include the town names, does it still help to keep the town names in the title tag? does google deliver local results based on location names in title tag if query didnt mention it?
-
This is wonderful to hear, thanks so much for sharing with us. I've forwarded that on to some of the team, as it's great to hear when we've helped to make an impact like this.

My success has been phoenomenal. Out of 86 keywords tracked we are on first page with 76, 65 in top 3 and 22 are #1. This has directly contributed to our doubling of our sales volume. Making Greenville and Spartanburg in the title tags of different pages on my site... I am positive has helped. For a small business our non paid keyword search is great, about 900 new hits a month. I love SEOMoz, and I appreciate the answers I have gotten from my questions. See http://www.bluedotlandscaping.com yourself. Not great on a national level big time type site, but for a local contractor we are heads and tails above our competition.

Hi Rich!
I'm following up on older questions that are still marked unanswered. I see you chose something similar to the second tag right now. Did you try other variations? Do you have anything of interest that you can share with us regarding your results and how changes did or didn't help your rankings/traffic/conversion?

If locations are important it is probably better to have them at the beginning of title tag. The company name can be at the end of the title tag too. At the same time company name is in your URL anyway. Of course it is up to you to decide.

Something that can help from seomoz:

Rich,
If you care mainly about "Greenvile" and "Spartanburg" you should find a way to start the title tag with those.
It's very important to have the main keyword / keywords in the beginning of the title tag - but avoid a spamy look.
If you can find a way to start the title tag with the keyword keywords that you really care and the title tag is looking good from a human point of view then that is a perfect recipe in my book.
It' s the way I do things related with title tags - my opinion only.
So a much better title tag will be something like:
<title>Greenville, Spartanburg, Simpsonville | Patio designs - Water features - Brick patio</title>

Okay to have additional attributes in canonical tag?
Hello! I'm helping a Client with a platform migration from an SEO standpoint. They are working to implement canonical tags, but I've noticed that each of the ones they are implementing are including a "data-rdm" attribute: data-rdm=""> I'm not sure the Client has a way to suppress this before the launch date. Do we think this will be an issue for Google?

Is placing an H1 tag below a slideshow a bad practice?
Hello All, It is to my understanding that it is a best practice to have a single H1 headline that corresponds to your title tag at the top of your page, above your content for the best On-Site Optimization. We are developing a site that uses a big slideshow with text on each slide, and are concerned that placing the H1 Headline below this will be a bad practice. Would a better option be to have the slide show text on the image and place no alt tags on the slides, so that the crawlers accessing the page overlook this and see the H1 below the slider first? We need to maintain the slider for design purposes, but would like the site to optimized. A similar example to what the slider will look like is as follows: http://www.boviskyle.com/ However, we look to have optimized, "10x" content below the slider with a solid H1 headline as well. Thank You!

SEO page length 4500+ words
I have read varying discussions on this... some say it is good or rather it does not really matter (as long as not stuffed with keywords) and some say more than 1000+ words is bad! I have a travel site and I want to add an historical page about the zone. It is very interesting (very organic, not written for SEO purposes as such). It adds flavor and details to a site that is really all about sales. Does anyone have an opinion whether this is detrimental to SEO or not?

Google changed the title?
I've been reading that Google will sometimes change the home page title, and I have finally seen this in action. Search for and on the second page you'll find but the title says Academy Dog Training. Which is not what's in the title tag for this page. Did Google change the title tag on us and if so why? How can we get them to use our title?

Implementing a new Nav Bar: Best practice, SEO benefit, your suggestions?
Hi Mozland, We are going to have a new Nav Bar for our site built from the horror that we currently have to up with. We want to make it a simple affair, similar to The Guardian two-tier Nav Bar - main menu which will drop down to the 2nd tier according to what you clicked on in tier one. Regular stuff, I think. Any suggestions, from your experience, about how best to implement this, what to include, what not to do, what can be included and done to make it as best it can be to get people to peruse our site as easily as possible? Thanks
