Best Online Branding Strategies?
-
Hi all,
The CEO of my company wants me to start branding the company, basically from the ground up. I've been doing a bunch of reading on how to properly do this and only got so far as to be reiterated the same exact jargon everywhere I go:
-"Put your logo everywhere"
-"Have a clear company motto"
-"Use branded keywords in backlinks"
-"Include your logo and social links in company-wide email signatures"
-"Make sure your brochures match your website, etc. etc. etc."
I've not yet seen something I feel is worthy to report back to big boss as far as an good SEO strategy that is impressively branding central.
Can anyone refer me to some GREAT articles with a to b instructions on exactly how to implement these branding strategies? The more creative the better. I'd be forever appreciative!
Derek

Not sure really what you are looking for but - great content like infographics or anything that is easily shared like photos or videos that includes your branding is great. Retargeting banners is also something that is super for branding.

Greatness is in the eye of the beholder, but I'd start with an SEOmoz site search with the term branding.

What's the best way to keep track of keyword rankings
Here's the deal. I keep track of my keyword rankings with the help of Rank Tracker from seopowersuite.com for the most part. I ran it on a daily basis and my keyword was not in top 100 for a few months. Moz.com panel shows pretty much the same (not in top 50) for the same months. That said, if I check that keyword ranking in my Google Webmaster Tools (avg. position) it says that its position (ranking?) was on average: 49, 7, 7, 8 (for the last four months). So, I'm not sure how it's even possible? How come Rank Tracker and Moz don't see any rankings and Google gives me sorta decent avg. positions at the same time. I assume that avg. postion means that same as avg. ranking, right? I'm not sure what I'm missing here.

Strategies for discovering competitors and selecting key words
Hey Moz community! What are some tools to use to find out who my competitors are and which keywords they are ranking for? Next, once I have found out this information, is it best that I try to outrank my competitors for thee same keywords? Or should I be going for key words that are more specific? What strategy should I use when selecting my key words...? Any help or advice is MUCH appreciated! Thank you in advance.

What's my best strategy for Duplicate Content if only www pages are indexed?
The MOZ crawl report for my site shows duplicate content with both www and non-www pages on the site. (Only the www are indexed by Google, however.) Do I still need to use a 301 redirect - even if the non-www are not indexed? Is rel=canonical less preferable, as usual? Facts: the site is built using asp.net the homepage has multiple versions which use 'meta refresh' tags to point to 'default.asp'. most links already point to www Current Strategy: set the preferred domain to 'www' in Google's Webmaster Tools. set the Wordpress blog (which sits in a /blog subdirectory) with rel="canonical" to point to the www version. Ask programmer to add 301 redirects from the non-www pages to the www pages. Ask programmer to use 301 redirects as opposed to meta refresh tags & point all homepage versions to www.site.org. Does this strategy make the most sense? (Especially considering the non-indexed but existent non-www pages.) Thanks!!
