Nuts and Bolts Ecommerce SEO approach

Hi there,
I have an ecommerce store that is just starting to rank for some good, competitive keywords.
So I want to step on the gas a bit and get to the top of the search engines.
What I've been doing:
1. Article marketing;
2. Link wheels;
3. Giveaway promotions;
4. Buying expensive links from the main directories (yahoo, botw, business.com, etc)At this point, I'd like to bring in and train an SEO to do all of the above and more.
Is there an eCommerce SEO 101-401 training module on this site?
Or even better, is anyone willing to share a mindmap with the steps broken down?

Hi, I run the seo for www.bilthamber.com It is an e-commerce site selling car care products, and we also manufacture our own products. I was wondering how the seo for an e-commerce site might compare to the seo for a blog or information based site, or other types of site. And also how the seo for a particular product page on my site might compare to a information based page on my site. Are the tactics the same? Should you try and rank for similar terms, the same generic terms, or complelty unique terms for the best seo? Or should every page try and rank for different terms, to ensure that the engines dont rank 2 or more different pages for the same search term? And how many keywords or search terms should I try and rank a particular product page for? Or an information page, or blog page? Is there a minimum or maximum that is recommomended? Does the more terms you try and rank for on a page take the weight out of each of them? So having 4 really good search terms might be better than having 10 ok generic ones? How do I find out what are my best, most highly converting, most profitable keywords overtime for Google? I can find some information like this, but it is showing the stats for Bing UK, not Google, even though Google UK is my main engine in Moz. My domain authority has decreased by 3 this week, this is the first time it has gone down since I started with Moz a few months back, can anyone explain why? And how this will affect the rankings ect, and how I can get it back up higher agian? And for linking and brand mentions, what are the goals of this feature? Should I find my mentions and ask them to talk about us more and link to us properly? I'm not sure if this is right. Should I be asking other websites to make links to our pages, or should it be organic? And for the insights section, I am recieveing tons of issues a lot to do with duplicate content, will having the rel=carnocial tag fix these issues? I know thats a lot for 1 question, but its been building up in my head! Thanks in advance! Max

SEO and page redirects from a high ranking site quandary
We are launching a site on a new domain that is taking the place of a group (subset) of pages in an existing domain. BUT The pages on the existing domain have really good SEO rankings in a very competitive category and we want to leverage the traffic it gets today in the best way, so.... Which of the following would be the best practice in this case (in regards to SEO)? Modify the existing pages' content so that there are prominent calls to action that lead the users to the new domain. Create permanent redirects for the existing pages for their counterparts on the new domain. This is more direct for the user but we don't know how it will affect the current ranking. Hey Mozzers, Are there any good Migration-SEO-QA Tools out there? Given a prioritized list of URLs and prioritized list of Keywords, is there a tool that can compare basic SEO factors, old URL vs. new URL, and identify all the specific gaps that need to be fixed? Here is a basic SEO-QA acceptance checklist, for porting any website. . . . Until the porting work is completed we cannot accept the new website. Givens: 1. A list of the Top 100 URLs from the old site, prioritized by conversion rates, landing page traffic, and inbound links. 2. A list of the planned 404 - mapped URLs, old to new site, from the porting team. 3. A list of the current Top 200 Keywords, prioritized. 4. A good amount of SEO work has already been done, by several professionals, for the current (old) site. **How to evaluate if the new site will be acceptable to Google? How exactly can I measure SEO - the correct way?
Hi, A very challenging questions I always ask myself is that how exactly do I measure SEO. I am writing content, building pages, correcting links and so on. So now how I measure as to what I am doing is this really working out for me? Are the content which I am building is it working for the benefit of my website etc. What tools can I use to measure SEO specifically. What factors should I look at to measure when in cases where I am just begun my seo strategy. Could anyone highlight the correct tools and where inside these tools or which features inside those tools could give me good measures of the SEO Implementation. Thanks

Seo affordable company
Hi, my website is www.theprinterdepo.com We want to hire a seo company that does everything together and can help me to increase visitors. I am a truly believer that SEO is the best way to improve sales, we did seo in the past but my boss only liked to do it for 6 months, so we went from 8,000 visits to 25,000 visits in 6 months, but after stopping the contract, visits went down again. Sales also increased and decreased in the same way during that time. I need a SEO Company which I can afford for a long term projec and that can help me beat my competitors in my niche. (printers, printer accesories, printer parts, printer toners, etc), 70% of our items are refurbished, but we also sell new ones pretty well. So ranking for the keyword refurbished printers only is not enough. We have about 12,000 visits per month and our goal is to go to 25,000 in 3 months, 50,000 in 6 months, and 100,000 in one year. I think this is pretty doable, do you? I wonder if someone in the forum can recommend me one good seo company that can give us a full integrated seo solution/quote, and that we can afford. I would be welcome to hire maybe seos that are starting their own company if there is proven success or something, sometimes big company names charge a lot.

Handling long URLs and overly-dynamic URLs on eCommerce site
Hello Forum, I've been optimizing an eCommerce site and our SEOmoz crawls are favorable for the most part, except for long URLs and overly-dynamic URLs. These issues stem from two URL types: Layered navigation (faceted search) and non-Google internal search results. I outline the issues for each below. We use an SEO-friendly URL structure for our product category pages, but once bots start "clicking" our layered navigation options, all the parameters are appended to our SEO-friendly urls, causing the SEOmoz crawl warnings. Our URLs start off simple: oursite.com/catalogsearch/result/?q=brown. Then the bot clicks all the layered navigation options, yielding oursite.com/catalogsearch/result/index/?appearance=54&cat=67&clothing_material=83&color=12&product_color=559&q=brown. Also, all search results are set to noindex,follow. My question is: Should we worry about these overly-dynamic and long ULR warnings? We have set up canonical elements, "noindex,follow" solutions, and configured Webmaster Tools to handle our parameters. If these are a concern, how would you resolve these issues?0 -
