Setting up GA to report on sub domains
-
I've just launched a mobile version of my site at m.mydomain.com.
I could do with a bit of help just checking I've inserted my Google Analytics code correctly though.
I've chosen the sub domain option from settings and pasted the code into both the mobile and the non-mobile version of my sites.
However, am I right in thinking that the setDomain attribute should point to two different domains for example:
_gaq.push(['_setDomainName', 'm.mydomain.com']); (for the mobile site)
and:
_gaq.push(['_setDomainName', 'mydomain.com']); (for the standard site)
Thanks very much for your help!

Hey there, any update on this?
If not, I'll be resolving this question.

Sorry!
If you're still not seeing any traffic, it's really hard to say without looking at the code. There's likely something wrong in the formatting, perhaps caused by your mobile CMS. In other words, you might have entered the snippet correctly, but when rendered on-page, something goes awry.
Really difficult to say!
Can you access the page in a regular browser? If so, have you tried the Google Chrome Google Analytics debugger? You can see if the _trackPageview is firing, that way. If you'd like, copy the snippet as it appears on-page (via view source) into a reply and I'll take a look (you can remove your domain and UA-XXXX-X account so as not to reveal anything, if you'd like).

Thanks for the reply Mike. Once I've done that, do I need to amend anything else? I'm only asking as I'm not seeing any hits on my mobile site since implementing the new tracking... Cheers,

Nope, the second _setDomainName line should be on both subdomains. That's all that's really required to enable proper subdomain tracking nowadays.
Optionally, you can add the _setIgnoredRef line just before the _trackPageview:
_gaq.push(['_addIgnoredRef', 'mydomain.com']);

Just wanted to give this a quick bump - any ideas?
Thanks,

Google Analytics Landing Page Report Discrepancy
I have noticed that when I run a landing page report and use the advanced option so I can view only the landing pages that include a particular string in the URL, have noticed that I in the report, the graph at the top will say one thing, but the data below says something else. For example, the graph for one particular search shows 200 Impressions, but the info below says 700 impressions and 610 clicks. Anyone seen anything similar or have any ideas why? Thanks! Craig

Google Analytics to sub domains
Hi, I have a site xyz.com and two separate sites on sub domains xyz.com/abc and xyz.com/def. What's the best way to go about with GA such that I can get all the data in the same place. Should I use the GA code for xyz.com on sub domains as well? Or should I create separate profiles?

GA visitor number inconsistencies?
Hey Mozzers Recently a client of ours undertook a paid campaign using Taboola and have a vast difference between reported clicks and visitors reported by GA. On further investigation the _utm.gif event is sent to google-analytics.com 50% of the time and stat.g.doubleclick.net the remaining 50% of the time Is this likely to be the cause of the discrepancy and if so is it possible to resolve this without removing the remarketing tag (which seems to be responsible for stats.g.doublelclick.net). Many thanks Justin

Subdomain tracking in GA
Hi Moz community. Wonder if you could help us out with a baffling Analytics issue. Are there any reasons why the _setDomainName() function in Google Analytics wouldn't track across subdomains correctly? We have been seeing visits to a subdomain come up as referral traffic, even after implementing the right tracking code. Would be interested to hear everyone's thoughts on this. Thanks in advance.
