Link Directories
-
Hi there,
We're very shortly launching a new website so as part of our link strategy we will be linking to directories found with the Link Acquisition Assistant for various keyword searches.
I was wondering at what point is it not worthwhile submitting to these directories with regards PA and DA?
For example if a directory has a domain authority of 69 but the page authority for the keyword in question is only 1, would it be a waste of time?
Cheers

Excellent! Seems like you have most bases covered - this is good.
Some people find links from high DA but low PA useful, others find the opposite useful. As always, there should be a bit of both. Try not to pick a strategy that puts all your eggs in one basket. I would prioritize the high PA first but dont forget about the high DA and low PA links, come back to these at a later stage
Also, make sure that there are other backlink strategies in place other than directory listings. There are lots of ways to gather links, directories are just one slice of the pie.
Feel free to send me a private message should you need assistance or add me to skype, the info is on my profile

Yeah
I understand that we don't want too many links in a very short period of time as it could lead to being penalised by Google, but at the same time we do need to build a spreadsheet (as you suggested) with directories to contact going forward, and that's one of my current tasks at the moment. I'm figuring since this is being done manually as an on-going process in conjunction with all the other work (so I'm not dedicating that much of my time) then i'm not going to have any infractions w.r.t mass submissions.
Yeah, I was just wondering how to determine which the best directories are whether it was a combination of PA and DA or whether when the PA's are low it isn't worth my time submiting to that directory even if their domain authority is high.
Yeah, we have all our initial content, have optimised each page for the targeted keywords & have made sure everything is how it should be for when we launch the site. Obviously this is an on-going process but we have our initial benchmark for going live.

If its a new website then you should avoid trying to grow too quickly - especially with link building. Link building is an area in which the SEO cheats have taken advantage of Google's algorithm in the past so Google are very aware of the problem. To combat this they are very careful with new domains receiving loads of incoming links. However, link building is obviously still important with new websites. You should make a spreadsheet of the link directories along with their PA and DA, keep a note of which directories you have submitted to.
You should start with the best directories on the list and when you get more time, filter down the less important directories.
In the mean time there are plenty of other bits which are just as important like content and on-site optimisation (forgive me if you have already worked on these two but most people just straight into link building. I had a client a while back who had built some really nice and relevant links but the foundations of his website were terrible and all his links were sent through to pages with poor URL's (ie, mysite.com/?>£hfgrttalogue-p5 instead of mysite.com/dogfood))
Hope this goes some way to answering your question?

When conducting a link building strategy does it matter the country the link is from?
We are a UK business and if we have links mostly from US based blogs and websites does this penalise us. The links are from relevant websites and topics. Should we be focusing on .co.uk sites

Links not showing
Hi, we have been putting links to our website www.caffeinemarketing.co.uk from other sites we are connected to. Although these sites are up and running and have been crawled, the links are not showing up on mot. What else do I need to do? Is it anything to do with whether I put http://www. or just www. Please can someone advise.

Links from sites with iffy link profiles?
So the site http://www.cadenas.de/ appears to have good decent scores from the various Moz ranks, but when I check out the site in OSE there are a lot of really sketchy links that jump out, online pharmacy/drug type links. I should also add that the negative links are seemingly going to a weird blog deep in the site and only appear when I select all links to the root domain in OSE. Everything about the site appears very legitimate except for the link profile which has me nervous. Would you guys pursue a link from this site?

Thoughts on creating a resource/recommend links page in order to attain links?
Hey guys, Just wondering, how does Google view reciprocal link building nowadays? I've heard in the past that it's something that Google isn't particularly keen on. However, more recently, I've also read that - as long as the links are decent (and in moderation) - link exchanging is by no means a bad thing. The reason I ask is that I'm thinking of creating a "resource/recommended links page" for a client of mine. Because of their industry, it's really apparent that attaining links is often only possible if there is the opportunity of a reciprocal link in return. Therefore, I'd need to have a resource/recommend links page of my own. Is this something I should go ahead with to make it much easier to attain links? Or should I try to avoid reciprocal links and attempt to pinpoint one-way linking opportunities - even if they're thin on the ground? Any help much as appreciated as always. Cheers.

Is the whoisbusinesslistings.com directory a good place to get a link?
I stumbled across the whoisbusinesslistings.com directory and noticed that it's home page is page rank 4 and in the listing it allows do follow links to your site. They don't have pricing listed on the site though which scares me. Only a link to a sales person. Anyone know how much they charge and if it would be worth looking into? Thanks mozzers! Ron10

Directories and Link Building
I was reading a post by Eric Enge, http://www.seomoz.org/blog/role-of-directories-in-link-building and nobody talked about in the comments, so I want to see what you think: Considering that get some bad links from punished directories is bad for your site, it's worth to use site submissions softwares, like SubmitEaze, that promisses a 1,000 submits?
