Linking Root Domain does not show twitter
-
I wonder what it takes to capture twitter as a backlink. We have a twitter account @idyllicsoftware which never occurs in open site explorer. Also it never shows newer back links. Could you suggest how to use it better?

That helps. Thank you for your responses.

That's a great question. I'll see if I can shed some light on the issue for you.
If I understand your question correctly, you're wondering why Twitter doesn't show up as a backlink to your homepage, http://www.idyllic-software.com/, in Open Site Explorer or any of the other SEOmoz tools. Is that correct?
(I'm referencing this report here: http://www.opensiteexplorer.org/domains?page=1&site=www.idyllic-software.com%2F&sort=domain_authority&target=domain)
It does seem strange, because OSE has indexed your twitter account. We can verify that here: http://www.opensiteexplorer.org/links?site=twitter.com%2Fidyllicsoftware
With a Page Authority of 48, that usually would be high enough for Linkscape to index the link to your site on your Twitter page. Unfortunately, Linkscape isn't foolproof, and sometimes it does miss links, especially if there aren't a lot of inbound pages to the linking page in question. (sorry if this seems like a circular argument)
My suspicion is because Linkscape has only indexed three inbound links to your Twitter page, there isn't enough Authority present to follow the links found there. The only solution is to build more, high quality links to your Twitter page to ensure the links get indexed.
That's the bad news. The good news is that the links are obviously there, Google can see them, and if Twitter links count for anything, then you are getting full credit, regardless if they show up in Linkscape or not. Oftentimes you'll see edge cases like this where a link appears in one index but not another. Moz is working on doubling the size of the current index, so there's a good chance you'll see your links in an upcoming update.
Hope this helps! Best of luck with your SEO.

When you get a link through from Twitter (i.e. through someone tweeting your blog post or re-tweeting your tweet with a link to your website), the root domain that it will appear as will be 't.co'.
't.co' is a link shortening service that Twitter uses so any links to your website showing in open site explorer coming from this root domain are from Twitter.
Hope this has helped.
Matt.

Company is spliting up and moving to new domains, trying to keep link juice going forward
A company I am doing SEO work for is splitting into 3 and will be hosted on three separate domains. I am getting 2 of the 3, however, I am not getting the domain that has most links going to it. What is the best practice to carry any link juice going to my divisions to the new domain names? Should I contact sites linking to my divisions content on the old site and ask them to link to my new sites? Should I do 301 redirects to help carry links to my new sites? Also, I found this guide in moz http://moz.com/blog/seo-guide-how-to-properly-move-domains its from 2009, but is this still considered the best practices for moving to new domains or is there an updated guide I should be using?

Is there a way to easily add "domain:" in front of an entire list of domains you want to disavow?
I'm submitting some disavow reports for clients. As most of you likely know you can either disavow a URL or a domain. So, to disavow a url, you would enter into the text file: http://www.example.com/this_page.html and to disavow the entire domain you would enter: domain:example.com I find that in most cases you would want to disavow the domain. For example, if there is a backlink on www.exampledirectory.com/health/page24/, by the time Google goes to disavow that link it may be on page 25. However, it is super time consuming to take my list of urls from a spreadsheet and type, "domain:" in front and also remove the http://www. Is there a way this can be done programatically?

Back Link: Is LinkedIn keywords in profile good Link building strategy?
I distribute industrial products B2B with e commerce. I have a personal profile on LinkedIn. I listed the products I sell and I could have all my partners and associates list my web site on their profiles. Do search engines review LinkedIn personal profiles or company profiles and is it a good marketing strategy to have my web site, keywords, and my two largest selling products on LinkedIn?

Are 36 links from one site to nested pages better than one link to the root domain?

should I create 36 individual links to each area page? - which is most valuable?0 -
New ways to get links (excluding on site link bait)?
Fellow SEOs, I’m looking for a new way to reach out to bloggers and site owners for links. There are quite a few link bait techniques to lure bloggers thanks to = amazing content, infographics,...but there are not so many articles on ways to contact bloggers/webmasters and ask for links... We all know that contacting site owners directly and politely asking then to place a link on their home page is as useful as a comb in Bruce willis’s hand. Link exchange is as dead as the Dodo and business partner links are usefull and easier to get but opportunities are often limited. I have been organizing contests for bloggers recently and it has been quite successful up to now, but I always like to have a spare trick up my sleeve. So if any of you have a decent method to reach out to bloggers/webmaster and get decent links please let me know, I will be forever thankful ; ) Cheers

Why doesn't the Better Business Bureau show up in my link analysis
I've been working on SEO for one of the companies I've designed a website for and I'm confused by the company's lack of Better Business Bureau backlinks. The Company in question does have a BBB account and that account links back to the company's website. However, when I check in the link analysis for the site, the BBB link doesn't appear. My competitors, on the other hand, do have BBB links in their analyses. So, I'm wondering if I somehow don't have the right type of BBB account. The BBB seems to be a pretty good place to have a link from, and the company pays $300.00 per year for the membership, so I'd like to get the most out of it. Here's a link to the BBB page for the company http://www.bbb.org/utah/business-reviews/plumbers/platinum-plumbing-services-in-west-jordan-ut-22199778#bbblogo And here's the company's website www.slcplumbing.com Now, the company site I've just listed is 301 redirected to www.platinumplumbinginc.com, but even when www.slcplumbing.com was the main site, the BBB backlink didn't show up. Thank you Blake
