Employing Pinterest for SEO gain.
-
Hi I wanted to see if the SEO team have had any feedback from members who have started to use Pinterest. I've had it for a month or so now and I've been adding pins every day since - (quite addictive actually).
What is interesting is the gender element to the people who are following and repinning my pins and boards i.e. female. It would be interesting to understand why this the case, why is it so popular with female users.
Ultimately I'm tyring to guage the benefits of employing Pinterest for SEO purposes and whether its worth keeping it in my arsenal of social tools.
Any insights welcome.

Many thanks Chanan much appreciated. I've had a look myself to see how my boards are ranking for keywords and phrases and currently they are not ranking in Google images. However I am ranking 10th for a specifc phrase and the phrase needs to reflect the name of the board. Which is fine and I am now changing the board name to reflect a better keyword phrase and see how this develops over the coming weeks.
So in summary Pinterest is showing promise I think as a tool to employ in your SEO arsenal.

One of the companies I am helping is in the DIY wedding industry. I am finding that some of my boards are ranking in the top 5 for their highly searched specific key term. I would recommend making specific boards with your keywords and add to them daily. The only issue that I am having is that i am unable/unsure how to control the description of my ranking boards, since I have multiple items pinned within it.

Many thanks for your input Waqid and much appreciated. Yes by all means any analysis from your project where Pinterest is involved is helpful

I would be interested to see how it works for you in the ecommerce field. My marketing company primarily runs ecommerce sites so getting backlinks can be trickier if they were, say, information resource sites. We have active forum communities on most of our sites so we need to use the community side to grow the sites I feel.

In regards to SEO, i have not seen any type of ranking increases or benefits. In regards to sales, yes I have.
I have a client who sells dog collars and she started using pinterest to post pics of new collars, community images (of dogs wearing her collars) and just random images she is interested in.
We have seen a 30% ++ increase in revenue due to pinterest. Most probably because the majority of her clients are female.
I just picked up a lingerie store (ecommerce) and will do my best to remember and come back here with some data or results.

How Can I do SEO for a Escorts Website?
So here comes the hard part of working with SEO.... I've been doing SEO for a quite long time now and as far as I concern, it has been working and that's why I can tell people I'm a SEO Manager! It was all good until 3/4 months ago when I got this client that wanted me to do SEO for his Escort Agency. I've analysed his website and came across some structure error, poor linking and so on... I've started by reformulating his website, re-structuring his urls, keeping good pages and throwing alway the poor content ones, requested some website owners to remove links to that website and so on.... All good and sorted, but when it came to do the off-page optimisation it became a nightmare! It's pretty easy to get links for a clothing website or any other (not "obscure") kind of websites, but no serious and authority websites would link to an escort agency; It's also very easy to create something funny and nice and post it on a page of your website to get people sharing and liking on facebook, but again very hard to get people to share and like things posted by an escort agency... You can't really advertise on escorts directories and use keywords on the ad because godfather google would penalize you.... I really don't know what to do anymore, so I will list some questions and if guys SEO experts could help me out, I would be so grateful!!! How can I get people linking to the website without paying for it? How can I get good authority links to this kind of website? How can I advertise on paid directories without being penalised by google? How can i get shares and likes on social network websites? The website has about 3000 pages, been online since 2010, have at least 3 lengthy articles posted a day! Please guys help me out with this case that is making me loose my nights of sleep... If you guys need the website address and the targeted keyword I can PM you (I dont know if the forum allows me to post it here) Thank You so much for the help in advance....

Max of 3 keywords on homepage linking to internal optimized pages
Links to these pages on other pages using your keywords
XML and HTML sitemaps
Using only WWW or no-WWW version of the site, make sure this is also set in .htaccess and google webmaster tools Each optimized internal page should have this:
content is king, write for readability
max 2 keywords per page
keyword in slug or html page name
keyword density of 3-5%
keyword 2 times in title and meta description (preferably at beginning and end)
keyword in bold, italic, and underline
keyword in h1
keyword in h2-6 if possible
keyword in image alt tags
low code to text ratio
valid HTML Off-page
Link directories
article directories
social media links and likes/+1s
web 2.0 links
forum profile and signature links
pdf links (slideshare, google docs, pdfcast, scribd)
social bookmark links
blog comments on related sites
yahoo answers
edu and gove links
authority sites carry much better link juice
build backlinks to your backlinks From what I understand forum profiles and web 2.0 aren't as powerful as they used to be, is all of this correct?0 -
Is twitter a waste of time to gain traffic
Hi i am wondering what people's thoughts are with reference to twitter. I use twitter and enjoy twitter but i have never had any traffic from twitter. I use facebook which i am not a fan of and i get a lot of traffic from it. Just wondering if there is a knack to getting traffic from twitter or are other people finding out the same as me that twitter does nothing to generate traffic or increase your profile

Are there any proven SEO benefits of presence and popularity on Facebook, just as there is supposedly benefit from Google+?
How much does visibility on Facebook (or for that matter, Twitter) impact search engine results? I did see a post recently on SEOMoz recently related to that--- but do others have similar experience/ have data to show strong correlation between FB shares/ Likes and search engine results (on Google)? The second, FB-related question is: what are your thoughts on the effectiveness of Facebook for a B2B audience, particularly in a rather niche sector - let's say industrial products? Look forward to your views and answers! Thanks.

First Attempt at Local SEO
Hi everyone, I've only been a member for a few days but this community is extremely supportive of one another, and I appreciate that very much. Here's my current project. I've done IM for awhile but now I'm helping a massage therapist with his personal brand here in Chicago. I've used the tools here to identify a few of the bigger sites and ten local keywords that he'd like to rank for - things like chicago massage, cheap massage therapy, and chicago reiki, his favorite. I'm currently getting him set up with Google Places properly so he shows up there. We have a Facebook and Twitter underway. We have a blog he can use if he wants - though I'm not sure how insistent he's going to stay. I'm planning a separate page targeting each of the keywords we're after. His competitors each have a couple local blogs talking about them, so I'm going to contact some local bloggers and offer them free massages in return for a review. He also is getting registered in some of the local business directories - mostly the ones I see the other sites already in. Finally, I was going to use some Build My Rank sites to bulk up his backlinks - maybe focus 10 on each keyword, with 5 going to the main keyword and 5 going to long tails. How does this sound for a simple, first SEO project? I'd love to hear some feedback, even if it's just "sounds great". I've never put one together for a client, and I'm thrilled/nervous. Thanks! Philip
