Linkbuilding URL Problem
-
Hi,
I work for Perfectly Engraved. A lot of our links point to http://www.perfectlyengraved.co.uk/. However that address forwards to - http://www.perfectlyengraved.co.uk/ecommerce/scripts/default.htm.
Should we ensure our links point to http://www.perfectlyengraved.co.uk/ecommerce/scripts/default.htm or does it not make difference? I've put our forwarding code below.
<%@ Language=VBScript %>
<%
Option explicit
Response.Buffer = true
Response.Redirect "http://www.perfectlyengraved.co.uk/ecommerce/scripts/default.htm"
%>
Also, would it help if we did a 301 redirect from http://perfectlyengraved.co.uk/ecommerce/scripts/default.htm to http://www.perfectlyengraved.co.uk/ecommerce/scripts/default.htm?
As both addresses for every page on our site return the page with or without www
Thanks

I am not a developer, but I would say that if you are planning on anyone hitting your homepage to be forwarded, then this should be a perm redirect 301. Google understands these.
Regards,
Andy

Linkbuilding: Relevancy and Internal Linking
Hello, For linkbuilding, how important is relevancy and how is it calculated by Google? For specific context, we are interested in putting a scholarship campaign on our reference page (www.spanishdict.com/traductor), and were wondering how that will impact relevancy. Additionally, we were wondering the value of internal linking from one page to another. We want to get more links to our hubpage – Page A (www.spanishdict.com/traductor) but much of this interesting, relevant content lives on our blog page – Page B (ex: www.spanishdict.com/blog/traductor/el-gh-en-ingles/). What is the best way to handle this? Would it suffice to internal link from the blog page (Page B) to the page we actually want to get links to (Page A)? Or should we try to house this content on Page A? Thanks for your help!

Not sure which url to use for backlinks
Hi our site, northamericahvac.com automatically goes to http://www.northamericahvac.com/servlet/StoreFront. There isnt anything I can do about it though, because we use prostores which limits things for us. That leads me to ask, when I'm making backlinks would I use northamericahvac.com www.northamericahvac,com, or http://www.northamericahvac.com/servlet/StoreFront.

Is a lot of inbound traffic coming from site a problem for SEO?
We have a site which is going to deliver content to a big news site and in return we will receive a lot of traffic from the news site. Estimates are that it will be about 50% of our daily traffic. Before this we have about 2000 daily visits, where 50% is from organic traffic. How will this affect our rankings? (It should be pretty obvious to Google that an increase like that in reffered traffic is bought - which I assume will ahve a negative impact on our organic rankings) What is the best tactic to use - regarding SEO - if (when) we proceed to deliver content/recieve traffic from that news site? (we have a lot of decent rankings on several branch keywords, and we don't want to risk those rankings. On the other hand - if we could improve our rankings from this deal - we would like inputs to that as well? Best regards, Chris

Linkbuilding to http/https
Hello, Last year we changed our domain name from http to https. In the .htaccess we included a 301 redirect from http to https. Nevertheless, some pages do not let you link to https, so for linkbuilding we sometimes need to use http://www.domain.ext in stead of https://www.domain.ext. Would this be a problem? I should expect with the 301 redirect that we don't have an issue here, but I would like to be sure. Although, I can make the site accessible without https too, but I don't think this is a good idea regarding duplicate content, is it? Thanks. Tom

Linkbuilding - Which is best?
Okay so we all know that: 1 Link on 10 Sites > 10 Links on 1 Site (potentially untrue with spammy links on 1 site than 10 links on high authority but that's not the point of this discussion) I've had some discussions at work I seem to be fighting a losing battle... So the questions is... which is better? 1 Link on 1 Site vs 5 Links on 1 Site (same site) We seem to operate on the form of - once we have a link from the site (in most cases blogs for product reviews / guest posts) - that's it , we move on and never talk to them again. For continued growth of links, would it be beneficial if we guest posted on some sites once a month? Then we get a steady stream of links each month.

Creating new url structure for inbound links
In an effort to make is easier for our clients to link to content on our site we intend on creating a simpler url structure for them: site.com/1234 will 301 to site.com/xyz/abc/1234-this-is-where-we-want-you Is there a danger of creating new 301's just for this purpose, the goal here is to make it easier for clients to link to content and thus garner more inbound links.

Some doubt about news section URL
I have a simple question, I have a website and i want to create a news category. I want to know what is the best way to create a url friendly for this category. I was looking around for news website like New York Times, and others, they use a format like this for the url http://domain.com/year/month/day/category/ etc. My question is about the use of the date in that format, like subdirectory, can somebody explain me about it. Any reason to use this format? What is the diference between using this format like: http://domain.com/news/çategory/article-date-id.html and this one use for the new york time shown before. Wich one will be work better? Thank You so much for your help

Average time to see results after linkbuilding?
Hello everyone, I did some linkbuilding in the last few weeks, most of these links are already indexed by Google when i check their Google-cache. But i don't see any improvements in my own positions, despite my backlinks are really good. I'm now wondering, how long does it normally take to see position improvements after your linkbuilding? (Further the on page SEO is good and i'm regulary updating my website) Regards, Yannick
