Openx IFrame and tracking in Analytics
-
Hi,
We're running our own adserver and we use OPENX. The problem is with the iframe invocation type that we have been using to show ads on pages.
My question is: How can we track the ad clicks that are being showed in the iframe?
I know the method in Analytics to count outgoing links as pageviews or events but I am not sure how to do this for clicks for OPENX Iframes as they don't even include Google Analytics tracking code inside the iframe.
any ideas appreciated

You may likely need to have the URL the ads link to first go through a tracking page that then automatically passes through to the destination - it's not the cleanest solution, and would cause a short delay in the user's experience, however its the only way I know of that will allow you to trap the action.

Iframes, AJAX, JS, Etc.
Just started SEO on some legacy sites running JS navigation. Are there any proven ways to stop Google from parsing links and passing internal linkjuice? Ex: iframes, Ajax, JS, etc. Google is parsing some JS links on a couple of our legacy sites. The problem is that some pages are getting link juice and others aren't. It's also unpredictable which links are parsed and which aren't. The choice is rebuild the navigation (ouch), or figure out a way to block JS links entirely and build a simple text based secondary nav for link juice distribution. I definitely don't want to use nofollow. Any thoughts?

Use of iFrames to embed video content?
So we decided to add interesting video content we have shot ourselves to improve the user experience on our website. We have read though all the SEO material and advice we could find and decided to use Vimeo to host our videos instead of self-hosting. The videos themselves will not show up on Vimeo or Google as we set our account to 'private', but we notice that to embed the videos on our website - the embed code is an iFrame. My question's are, aren't iFrames supposed to be bad for SEO? Should we look to another video hosting solution instead? If other websites embed our videos on their site using the iFrame, do we get any SEO credit or the backlink? Thx.

SEO impact of an iframed blog is very low ? Right or wrong ?
We're thinking about adding a blog to our site, but our CMS blogging features are not good. Someone suggested using a wordpress blog and putting it in an iframe on our site. I replied that all the SEO impact of our blogging efforts will be lost because of the iframe. I am right or wrong ? If I am right, could you suggest better alternatives ? Thanks in advance ! Google Analytics - Custom Variables
Hi guys, I'd appreciate any advice with this one. At the moment I'm in the process of arranging a URL re-structure. I was wondering what the best way would be to track the performance of the old URLs against new ones? We will be ammending the URLs for any new property pages which go live on our website but leaving the old URLs in play for any old properties listed. We're taking this approach for the moment so we can conduct analysis on the change. It has been mentioned to me that placing a 'setvariable' in the code of pages with the old URLs and ones with the new URLs would be a way of tracking performance. However, my knowledge in this area is a little bit grey. Any advice? Cheers, Mark

Google Analytics
I usually have Google analytics "real-time" running on one of my monitors, occasionally I glance at the screen to see that are TOP KEYWORDS people are using, lately there have been a lot of long-tail keywords. If I try to copy and paste the queries into google, i can never seem to find us organically for the long-tail searches? Is the real-time feature accurate? Thank you!

Issues with Google Analytics since 3/15 @ 6:00AM ET
Our site, IrishCentral.com has been experiencing issues with GA since 6:00AM ET 3/15. Our "realtime" analytics withing the new GA interface have been fine and no changes have been made to the site code at all. I'm wondering if anyone else is experiencing these issues and if there is a resolution. We are fine w/o them as long as we know that the aggregation of the data is delayed and not forgotten. We are reaching 1 million uniques this month and would be a shame to lose this data. Any help is greatly appreciated. Joe

Do I need to add canonical link tags to pages that I promote & track w/ UTM tags?
New to SEOmoz, loving it so far. I promote content on my site a lot and am diligent about using UTM tags to track conversions & attribute data properly. I was reading earlier about the use of link rel=canonical in the case of duplicate page content and can't find a conclusive answer whether or not I need to add the canonical tag to these pages. Do I need the canonical tag in this case? If so, can the canonical tag live in the HEAD section of the original / base page itself as well as any other URLs that call that content (that have UTM tags, etc)? Thank you.
