Is Over use of Twitter to link back to your website affect google rankings

Having a debate here that needs to be settled. A friend is using twitter to link back to his site but is falling down the google rankings.  I think that he is over using and creating double content  which looks like a robot . Can any body elsse explain this Better Please

It is probably unlikely that because you are using Twitter that your rankings are falling in Google.  Focus on getting retweets from authority sites in your niche rather than using some bot that has automated tweets every 2-3 min.  Also, the real readers and followers of authority sites could retweet and building links to your site.  Don't use those automated Twitter tools.  They are a waste of money.

Twtter links are no folow, so they want do any good for ranking, they might generate some traffic, MIGHT.

You cant get much content in a tweet so i would not be too concered there.

I dont think it will hurt, but unless the tweets are going viral, i doubt it is generating much in the way of traffic either,

Try Google Analytics and see if it is or not?
