How to avoid automated queries to Google
-
We have a search engine marketing team working on different projects and we share same IP. We check our rankings manually on Google, is it sending automated queries to Google? Can it affect our sites? What solution do you suggest to check rankings without sending multiple queries to Google?
-
That assumes they have a fixed IP though doesn't it?
-
You should have your IP address's omitted via google analytics, there is an option to do that
-
Your post says you check rankings 'manually'. Do you do this by putting the query into Google through a browser? If so, the only time I've seen this have any effect is when you get a CAPTCHA to check you're still human.
For us we have noticed that this happens less if you're logged into Google. But it happens so rarely because you'd have to be able to post the query and record the ranking in such a fast time for Google to think you're automating queries, so I'm not sure you need to worry.

Hi guys, I am wondering if the google manual penalty or penalty in general (because of bad backlink profile) also means that your website is blocked for Adwords? Thanks

Google Indexing - what did I missed??
Hello, all SEOers~ I just renewed my web site about 3 weeks ago, and in order to preserve SEO values as much as possible, I did 301 redirect, XML Sitemap and so on for minimize the possible data losses. But the problem is that about week later from site renewal, my team some how made mistake and removed all 301 redirects. So now my old site URLs are all gone from Google Indexing and my new site is not getting any index from Google. My traffic and rankings are also gone....OMG I checked Google Webmaster Tool, but it didn't say any special message other than Google bot founds increase of 404 error which is obvious. Also I used "fetch as google bot" from webmaster tool to increase chance to index but it seems like not working much. I am re-doing 301 redirect within today, but I am not sure it means anything anymore. Any advise or opinion?? Thanks in advance~!

Query strings in Canoncials URLs
Video on my site all resides at www.mydomain.com/video in a player that does not assign unique URLs for each video. We may be able to rewrite the URLs to include a unique identifier found in the video's metadata (www.mydomain.com/video/?bctid=17769780). If I did this, how would it impact the canonical URL? Do the SEs accept canonicals with query strings? What if I only changed the canonical URL and did not change the video's URL? Would that be a problem?

Google Places and Name Change
Hello - I have a client who is a realtor and changed agencies. I edited their Google Places entry and the new name of their agency and address are showing - but so is their old listing. The agency they left is now trying to sue them for showing up in a number one position with Google Places under their agency name. Is this an indexing issue with Google? Their name shows up under both agency names. The corrected one shows most often, but the old one is still popping up on occasion. Thanks,
