Time Tracking, Best Way / Tool?

I've heard great things about Basecamp as well. It's only 20 bucks a month, so that's not bad. Hey, Tod, you might have talked me into it!
-
We've used Basecamp for years and our clients love it. Not free though.
-
We've tried quite a few of these out, and frankly didn't really like any of the free options (I'm assumming you don't want to pay. Grindstone2 was the best of a bad lot.
We ended up just creating a custom excel sheet that auto-updates when you enter data. It has easily been the best option. If you want a copy message me in private, I'll be glad to provide one.

What platform is best for a searchable online library platform for articles, videos and audio?
I have a client who needs an online library for articles, PDFs, videos, and audio. Here are some of the criteria I need met: needs to be searchable needs to be able to accept guest blogging needs to be able to accept user feedback on each item all the items are free. needs to be able to filter results within search results. needs to be able to handle over 10,000 documents/articles that will be put on the site. content needs to be tagged with one or more tags for improved searching. I am familiar with WordPress but wasn't sure that was the best solution for a more advanced library. Any suggestions on other platforms that will work for this application?

Can you have same product name and description on a local and national site at the same time without getting dinged by google?
My question is regarding a few sites we own which are all related. The local site (http://location.company.com) is a extension of the national main site (http://company.com.) We are in the process of launching these new sites as replacements to older sites we created years ago. My first question regarding SEO is it important to the search engines to have unique product content on both sites even though they promote the same products (with same pictures) and brands or can we keep the same product names and descriptions as I hope? I ask this because essentially they are the same site but with with the exception of the local extension..... We thought by re writing all the content on the main pages of both sites along with different; title tags, page title and meta descriptions that that would make the sites different enough to get away with this. Is that the case? Thank you in advance for your assistance, Jake

What keywords will this page possibly rank for ... tool?
Hi all, I'm looking for a tool that will look at a web page that you submit to it and tell you what keywords it thinks the page is targetted towards and thus hopefully rank for. Does anyone have any suggestions please? Hopefully this type of tool will help us understand why page A is being ranked for keyword X when page B is actually the page that should be being ranked for that keyword. The only tool I have really found so far is http://www.ranks.nl/tools/spider.html I dont want to tell the tool what keywords I am looking at, as with Moz On page grader. Background reason (and possibly some one maybe able to shed some light on this also). We list a group of products... Nextbase Click 9 Lite, Nextbase Click 9 Lite Duo and Nextbase Click 9 Lite Duo Deluxe. All 3 are similar but very different products and each has its own page on our site. For the keyphrase "Nextbase click 9 lite" currently in Google we are listed for the pages containing the "Nextbase Click 9 Lite Duo" and "Nextbase Click 9 Lite Duo Deluxe"... but not the actual specific product page that targets the "Nextbase Click 9 Lite" product. Thus my reason for wanting to try such a tool that may help me understand why this is. Thanks for any hints, tips or pointers.

Best X-Cart SEO Solutions / Modules?
We recently acquired an e-commerce client that uses X-Cart. We have no previous experience with this platform and it's hard to find any good / helpful info regarding SEO functionality online. Right now I need to figure out how to handle mass redirects of 404 errors, friendlier URLs, resolving duplicate content, XML sitemap generation, robots.txt generation. The functionality built into the platform so far is terrible and all of the modules are pricey. Any recommendations, general or specific, would be insanely helpful if anybody out there has experience with this particular platform. Thanks!

First Time SEO Online Store
Hi All, I have recently launched a new online store selling mobile phones and accessories. I have always found SEO to be one of those foggy areas, after all I see things through curly braces. However, as the director of the new online store I do need to get myself involved in SEO and all its wonders that it has to offer. I was wondering if any of the Pro SEO guys at there have any tips for an almost newbie in the world of SEO... Can it be made fun?? I find it at times to be a right slog and I do question whether I'm actually getting anywhere etc. Any responses or advice would be greatly appreciated. Regards Rob

Best way to utilize an infographic...... do I have the makings of one?
I have read the REALLY great post on YouMoz about HOW to push an infographic but I wanted to throw this out for discussion: I operate an seo / Internet marketing company but I am also a partner in a party rental business here in Wichita. I have the material for a GREAT infographic (I think) a copy of our party rental yellow page ad with a tracking # in the ad (provided by yellowbook to see how many calls we receive every month) a report from yellowbook showing we received 277 calls in a YEAR from that ad a screenshot of Google analytics showing we received 16,000 visits during the same time period. (12k unique visits) 300 calls vs 12,000 unique visits Of those 12,000 contacts we had 3,700 of them get online quotes and provide their name, address, email and phone number. Yellow pages = 300 calls / 150-200 actual sales Internet = 12,000 unique visits, 3700 leads and ... ? ... probably 800 sales This proves in black and white right from yellowbook themselves what an AMAZING difference there is in the value of SEO vs old school phone book ads. Does this have the making of a good infograph? Can you see where this would be helpful to show potential clients? How would you use this to promote your business? Thanks for your thoughts and opinions. If this can help others I would be happy to share more specifics. Matthew

What free app/tool do you wish existed?
Is there something you find yourself needing to do, but there is no tool to help you do it? A task you do all the time you're sure could be done easier with a nice app? I'd love to hear about it! If we like your idea, we'll create it and make it 100% free (for linkbait, of course!).

Siloing/Sculpting... confusion....
Hiya, I saw that someone asked something similar to this here but I'm wondering if anything has changed. I've found some stuff exclaiming that siloing is a must, and should always be done. But then I've seen that you guys don't really endorse it, or at least in that Q&A you didn't and I can't find anywhere that you give instruction on the best way to do it, except a tiny bit by Richard Baxter here... and usually you do a lot more with everything that is worthwhile. So I guess my question is, where do you stand on it? and if you are for it, will Rand do a tutorial on the best way to go about it, with lots of diagrams and stuff at some point? 😄 Thanks, Steve.
