Curating Content. used to avoid, but now i'm having second thoughts
-
It's really hitting me now, because content curating is extremely common in a lot of other forms of media.
I always avoided it because I didn't know the extent of any negatives that I might see from the search engines (duplicate content).
Does anybody else curate content for their blogs?
The main problem that I am having is that I just don't have enough time to publish the amount of content that I need.
Outsourcing is the best alternative, and quite frankly, unless your high school English teacher needs extra money, it really isn't a very good one.
Basically, i'm looking at content curating as a really good way to publish a lot of content, on more topics, a lot easier.
What extent do you consider reasonable?
How do you go about creating your content?
What would you say is the easiest way to create content efficiently?
-
It depends what kind of curation you want to do with how Google will treat it.
Are you creating a link list? Are you showing a quick blurb with your opinion? Are you re-publishing the article?
For the first two, you're creating somewhat original content, and I wouldn't worry too much. (Though make sure to add your opinion on the second option.) On the third one, you can use rel=canonical to get around duplicate content.

Content Marketing: What to say when calling prospects
Hello, We have a useful article on a topic that there isn't much information on in our niche. Some of these organizations which we're outreaching to have general phone contact numbers. Would it be a good idea to call them? If so, can you give me some pointers as what to say? Thanks

My Reconsideration Request Was Denied, Now What?
2 weeks ago, I submitted a disavow links request to Google and I was quite sure I did a great job at cleaning the links. I won't go into detail about how I did it but let's say that I reviewed manually each link that didn't get flagged as toxic by Link Detox. At the same time, I submitted a reconsideration request explaining what I did and mentioning that I submitted a list of links to disavow. I never got any reply about the disavow links request but I got my reconsideration request denied today: ========================================== Dear site owner or webmaster of ... We received a request from a site owner to reconsider ... for compliance with Google's Webmaster Guidelines. We've reviewed your site and we still see links to your site that violate our quality guidelines. Specifically, look for possibly artificial or unnatural links pointing to your site that could be intended to manipulate PageRank. Examples of unnatural linking could include buying links to pass PageRank or participating in link schemes. We encourage you to make changes to comply with our quality guidelines. Once you've made these changes, please submit your site for reconsideration in Google's search results. If you find unnatural links to your site that you are unable to control or remove, please provide the details in your reconsideration request. If you have additional questions about how to resolve this issue, please see our Webmaster Help Forum for support. Sincerely, Google Search Quality Team ========================================== Should've I waited to get some kind of reply about the disavow link list before submitting the reconsideration request? Also I see links from scrappers increasing exponentially lately and I mean I get a sh*load of bad links from them with random anchor text gibberish. Do they expect me to include these links too?

I'm hiring a link building company - need help choosing
I asked this question before and got mixed feedback. Companies vs. Freelancers. Well I have a couple questions here. At a certain point it is definitely worth going in house, but what about the knowledge that we could gain from working with a big agency? Does that really add any value? Can I hire a freelancer and trust him as much as a big agency? or vice versa? Can I hire an agency and trust them as much as a freelancer? I have also been advised to make sure they offer competitive / site analysis as a first step, AND inform you of exactly how many links they plan to build per month, how much time they will dedicate to you and your account, expect turn around times, and light strategy details that they would likely use. Thanks for any help! TA

Quality Content...Sizzle
I see tons of 'push quality content'... push quality content.. Ok Ok. However, I am a little confused about this. Maybe I am understanding it wrong. Say I have a website about donuts. I am going to try to promote my donut website so people can see all my latest donuts and hopefully they will come into my local store and purchase them. I interpret quality content as writing about the topic of donuts. However, people who eat donuts probably don't care about the history of donuts, or the different types of dough used. They probably could care less about statistical facts that explain how my fictional donut company uses a whole wheat dough which will lower their cholesterol. What they want to see is a fat donut with icing on it. They want to see someone biting into it and enjoying it. How does a local donut company go about becoming #1 on the serps if they do not want to write constantly about all things donuts? A video would be nice for them perhaps? Like I said, perhaps I am overthinking this. But I have understood the best way to write quality content is to identify a problem that people are having, then find the solution, then write about it (or video). But sometimes people just need to be TEMPTED. Coca-Cola uses awesome commercials to promote their business. They are not writing articles about high fructose corn syrup. How does this so called 'temptation' factor play into SEO? I want to sell the sizzle not the sausage. Ultimately marketing is about getting more sales which means more money for the business. Being high on the SERPs helps get more sales (hopefully). Writing quality content is great and I am sure it works in plenty of areas. But I am not sure how to apply it to certain industries. Creative marketing ideas have to come into play to market the fake donut business. How do you tie these other strategies in so they help you with SEO? All I can think about is posting a 'cool' video on youtube/facebook and trying to get people to like it. Cross your fingers and hope it goes somewhat viral? Thanks!

Should You Avoid Links from Sites with Big Difference Between PR and MozRank?
If a site has a Google toolbar PR of 2 and a Mozrank of 5, does that most likely mean that the site is penalized and a link would probably provide little value. I know that Google rarely updates toolbar PR so I suppose the site could have also earned a lot of quality links since the last update. Thanks Mozzers!
