Implications of Google discontinuing Website Optimizer
-
Hi Guys,
As most of you probably know, Google is discontinuing Website Optimizer and introducing Experiments within Google Analytics.
However, doesn't this mean that now, every site you want to run an experiment for has to be using Google Analytics? This is possibly one of the motivations for them making the change I guess?
I also find it inconvenient that every 'experiment' now has to be based on improving a pre-defined goal in Google Analytics. This means that for a lot of situations we'll be creating goals just for the experiment and the clients actual goal conversions will appear quite inflated. I guess we'll just have to filter the new 'goals' out from the actual goals.

There are pros and cons for every action.
With setup wizard creating experiment has become very simple process. You can segment your results by using Advance segments.
Also with experiment, you don't have to install multiple pages of code, there is only one code snippet you need to include on the page.
Most importantly, google is working on adding more functionality such as Experiment suggestion. additional goal conversion option and Status email about your experiment performance.

Google Analytics Best Practice Set up for Clients
Hi When setting up new Google Analytics accounts for clinets what is the preferred/best practice. At present we have our own company google account and add new clinets this way (to our account) - the disadvantage with this, we can only grant them limited account access otherwise they would be able to view all the accounts we cretaed. Plus we can't link their adwords to the GA account we cretaed them. Is it best practice to set the client up with their own Google Account and then we just link to their account. Advise would be appreciated, thank you.
