Duplicate Content Warning For Pages That Do Not Exist
-
Hi Guys I am hoping someone can help me out here.
I have had a new site built with a unique theme and using wordpress as the CMS. Everything was going fine but after checking webmaster tools today I noticed something that I just cannot get my head around.
Basically I am getting warnings of Duplicate page warnings on a couple of things. 1 of which i think i can understand but do not know how to get the warning to go.
Firstly I get this warning of duplicate meta desciption
url 1: /
url 2: /about/who-we-are
I understand this as the who-we-are page is set as the homepage through the wordpress reading settings. But is there a way to make the dup meta description warning disappear
The second one I am getting is the following:
/services/57/
/services/
Both urls lead to the same place although I have never created the services/57/ page
the services/57/ page does not show on the xml sitemap but Google obviously see it because it is a warning in webmaster tools.
If I press edit on services/57/ page it just goes to edit the /services/ page/ is there a way I can remove the /57/ page safely or a method to ensure Google at least does not see this.
Probably a silly question but I cannot find a real comprehensive answer to sorting this.
Thanks in advance

Hi,
Thanks for the reply. the problem with the canonical is that I cannot edit the services/57/ page with wordpress because as soon as I click edit it goes to edit the /services/ page.
For the yoast canonical to work i would need to add in the real url into the /57/ page of which I cant do , or am i wrong there?
The problem also is that I can add any number apart from /57/ and they all lead back to /services/. At the moment Google has only indexed both /services/ and /service/57/
Thanks

Add canonical tags to your pages this is a must with wordpress category pages and tag pages etc.
somewhere on your site google is crawling and indexing/seeing services/57 which is really services/ - but without the canonical added to services/ google doesn't know that is the page that should be considered the representative page.
install the YOAST seo plugin for wordpress, install it and configure it to properly add canonical tags and noindex tags. it's really easy takes like 10 minutes after you instal and activate it
if this helped you out please feel free to thumbs up or mark as good answer! if you send me the URL i can take a closer look for you

SEO for video content that is duplicated accross a larger network
I have a website with lots of content (high quality video clips for a particular niche). All the content gets fed out 100+ other sites on various domains/subdomains which are reskinned for a given city. So the content on these other sites is 100% duplicate. I still want to generate SEO traffic though. So my thought is that we: a) need to have canonical tags from all the other domains/subdomains that point back to the original post on the main site b) probably need to disallow search engine crawlers on all the other domains/subdomains Is this on the right track? Missing anything important related to duplicate content? The idea is that after we get search engines crawling the content correctly, from there we'd use the IP address to redirect the visitor to the best suited domain/subdomain. any thoughts on that approach? Thanks for your help!

I have two websites with identical content. Haya and ethnic Both websites have similar products. I would like to get rid of ethniccode I have already started to de-index ethniccode. My question is, Will I get any SEO benefit or Will it be harmful if I 301 direct the below only URL’s https://www.ethniccode/salwar-kameez -> https://www.hayacreations/collections/salwar-kameez https://www.ethniccode/salwar-kameez/anarkali-suits - > https://www.hayacreations/collections/anarkali-suits

Publishing pages with thin content, update later?
So I have about 285 pages I created with very, very thin content on each. Each is unique, and each serves its own purpose. My question is, do you guys think it is wise to publish all of these at once to just get them out there and update each as we go along? Each page is very laser targeted and I anticipate that a large handful will actually rank soon after publishing. Thanks! Tom

I'd like to introduce brand pages. In this case I would create new categories for Brand 1, Brand 2, etc... The text on categories and brand pages would be unique. But there will be an overlap in products. How do I deal with this from a duplicate content perspective? I'm appreciate your suggestions. Best, Robin0 -
Internal Duplicate Pages causing dip in rankings
Hi Guys, Need help in understanding whether having duplicate pages on your site push you down in rankings. Our all product pages getting indexed by Google with different parameters i.e. filters, affiliate id, utm_source etc. and then we have 10-15 duplicate for one product page. I am observing dip in rankings whenever Google starts indexing these duplicate but when I asked this question to John Muller and other Google team they said if you set up canonical then you don't have to worry about having different urls for same page but we are not ranking on Google and if we do then we dropped from page 1 to page 2 or sometimes page 3. Example - http://goo.gl/G5p3X5 Any suggestions.

http://www.discountstickerprinting.co.uk/#tabThree Does this mean that our content is being duplicated onto another page? If so what should I do?0 -
The system shows duplicate content for the same page (main domain and index.html). Is this an error of SEOMOZ?
Should I be worried that this will affect SEO? Most sites redirect to the index.html page, right? [edited by staff to remove toolbar data]
