Missing back links in Open Site Explorer?
-
I'm looking at the Open Site Explorer for my site, and it shows 9 links to my site, all from 2 domains (showing all links from all pages and for both www and not www version of my domain name).
But I know for sure that there are other sites linking to my site. Are they not there because they are not important or because the links have not been crawled yet?
-
It is usually a mix of our crawl timing and a quantity/quality trade-off. We try to filter out some low-quality links. Crawl timing has been faster recently, though (maybe 2 weeks), so generally that's only a short term issue.
There are cases, though, where a link might not be crawled or counted - nofollow, bad headers, no crawl paths, etc. I've seen Yahoo Directory and DMOZ links, for example, that were buried so deep even Google didn't crawl them.
Unfortunately, it's really tough to tell without seeing the site in question. If these are very recent links, then it's just an issue of time. If these links have been around for a month or more, then this could be a quality issue or a technical issue with the link.

I'm missing something in site explorer/ I know there's at least 40 different domains (and therefore more actual links) pointing to my domain - but site explorer is saying there are only 3 domains and 41 links. Really obvious links such as Yell are linking yet these don't appear in site explorer. The linkscape refresh isn't really an answer as I can get backlinks from other tools instantly (which sort of defeats the purpose of my subscription to seomoz). This is really not good enough - unless I'm a clutz and it's human error.

One of the reasons is that linkscape needs to refresh. There is a calendar which has refresh schedule. http://apiwiki.seomoz.org/w/page/25141119/Linkscape-Schedule

I have seen this same issue. I like also using yahoo's site explorer which is a lot more generaous on reporting links than both seomoz and google. FYI search links:http://www.... for google backlink report.

Inbound links not found on OSE
I have live inbound links for the site htp://vpnexpress.net, but OSE reports nothing found. How long does it usually take for them to index high PR site links? Thanks.

Does Google Reward Bad Links in Some Industries?
This week I've been diving into competitive research again for several clients in different industries, and unless the data in Open Site Explorer is wrong, it really does appear that Google continues to reward sites with unnatural links in certain industries, especially industries that are less tech-savvy (agriculture, finance, manual labor). I've combed through all the links carefully, to ensure there aren't some secret high-quality links lurking, and for some of these sites that are showing up in the top ten for search they do not even one real, high-quality link. Also, their onsite optimization is often way over the top and the user experience is nothing less than nauseating. Could it be a MozScape issue, or does Google continue to reward terrible sites and link structures in certain industries? I'd love to hear your thoughts.

Which of these is the best guest blogging site
Which of these is best: http://www.guestblogit.com/http://www.bloggerlinkup.com/ http://www.Myblogguest.comhttps://www.helpareporter.com/ I like the look of MyBlogguest.com so far. We are wanting to guest write articles to be published on quality sites in exchange for one or two links back (link building) Also, how do you choose what article topics to write. So far my strategy is to look at the industry's biggest sites and to use the "Top Pages" tab in OSE to look for hot topics. Thanks!

More than 100 links
Hi Everyone, I was trawling through You Tube and came across this video from Matt Cuts from Google about the 100 links limit being removed. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l6g5hoBYlf0&feature=relmfu I then logged into my SEO account as I remember a previous report we did for a competitor where they had quite a number of pages just over the 100 links, but only barely (They are highlighted in SEOmoz as a warning). Given that google has removed this number from their guidelines and it's clear that a few over 100 isn't as bad as it used to be, is it not about time this was changed or looked at again? Maybe even put ones like these under a new title such as recommendation rather that the alarmist Warning one unless it's ridiculously high? I wonder if the SEOmoz team can also find out a better range figure for it instead of the outdated 100? Regards Alan watch?v=l6g5hoBYlf0&feature=relmfu

How to Link build for our site
Hello, A client of mine has a site that gives advice to people. It's moderately competitive. It's a content site. Using Open Site explorer, I looked up competitor's top pages and backlinks, and there were things such as sites that were heavy on directories, sites heavily on editorial mension, sites on juicy topics that I don't want to cover, and the rest was pretty much junk. Just so that you know, I only link build with quality websites that look strong, long term, have a nice design, are high quality, and are not a directory (with a few exceptions) What's the standard way to link build with a site like this? We've got 7 articles of good content that is from me spending hours learning about the subject and using my skills as a life coach. Right now I'm just adding quality content and social media. I am not a top expert in the field, but I'm learning as much as possible. How do we link build?

OSE lists dead links
Going over the link profile of a competitor who gets 5x the traffic we do.... of course frustrated that the majority of their links are spam blogs (full of words but don't communicate anything) and forum profiles. Thanks Google for telling me what not to do, then rewarding my competitor for doing it shamelessly. Question regarding sites listed by Open Site Explorer as linking to said competitor, but that don't even load when I visit their url. Some go to a godaddy parked page, like the domain name expired long ago. Is this simply a limitation of OSE, and can I assume Google has indexed differently and therefore awarding no link juice from these urls?

4XX links in SEOmoz
My campaign is showing me that I have 7 4XX errors. Is there anyway to see where these pages are linked from in order to remove the links?
