Penguin Update and Long Tail Keywords
-
Since the Penguin update, organic traffic for our site; oxygenconcentratorstore.com
has dropped almost 25%. The thing I cannot figure out is that when I compare April 1st to May 15th (before the update) and June 1st to July 15th (after); 8 of our top keywords are up. Our 2 main keywords are up 15% and 11%.Where we lost most of our traffic is from our longtail keywords. We have almost 1000 longtail keyword phrases that we got visits from in the April/May period that we did not get in the June/July period.
Is there a reason why our top keywords would continue to improve while we most of the longtail keywords?? If Google penalized us, won’t all of our keywords be dropping and just not the longtail.
Any help/info would be awesome.
Thanks.

Yes, however keep in mind that as you remove links you may start to lose ranking. I would recommend removing some, the ones that you can, and start focusing on getting good branded links.
-
Our main keyword are "oxygen concentrator" and portable oxygen concentrator".
We had a SEO company working with us for awhile and I know they created a bunch of bad links from tons of low quality "web directories" and "blogs".
Should I try going and getting us removed from those???
-
Many factors are involved here I see that you have allot of links anchored "oxygen concentrators" and they are on pages that have a great amount of links. Not sure what your main keywords are, however your backling profile is raising red flags IMO. I would recommend building some quality links by creating unique articles on authoritative sites. Also the Penguin update is designed to find over optimization, your sites links look unnatural (they are). It is a good practice to have the site/brand name linking in more than the other anchors.
As far as your sites rankings go maybe the competitors sites were building worse links or Google has not detected the type of links you have.

Was there Algorithm update over last weekend (sep 29-30 2018)?
Howdy fellow mozzers, This morning, during our weekly client meeting, I have noticed that pretty much all of our clients' rankings went down a little after a weekend. Nothing major, but noticeable enough on the rankings graph. The MOZcast shows that there was some kinda activity over the weekend with higher than normal temperatures. Anyone has any idea?

Keyword cannibalization or linking structure?
Hi all, Recently I got an answer from this community about "why our login page is ranking but not my homepage for primary keyword"? Possibilities are keyword cannibalization or linking structure. In our case, our homepage is not ranking for "primary keyword" but ranking for other keywords. If it is linking structure, what might be wrong? Like do we need to unlink login page from many internal links? Thanks

Keyword stuffing in URL? Ekk. Help Please.
Okay, so I work as content manager in the travel industry and we're re-doing our site, pretty much from scratch, including the SEO, anchor text/route url, etc. I am struggling with one particular thing. If all my url's have similar keywords, ie example.com/atlanta-trip and example.com/boston-trip and so on and so forth for every destination, will using "trip" in the url be seen by Google as keyword stuffing? Should I make my url's more diverse? My gut feeling is no based on all the Moz, Google and other SEO research I've done, because it's all relevant to the content and the user experience, but I'd like to be sure, since we really can't afford to get penalized by Google...again.

Sudden drop in all (keyword) +widgets keywords, after years of dominating
Google seems to be following up on either Panda 2.xx ..or we just got hit with link devaluation. We lost rankings with most of our keywords, where we were ranked 1,2,3 ..first page for most. Now we have dropped on the first page for competitive keywords, and even some to the seconds page. We haven't changed anything on the site itself...and those ranking over us in some areas have very little quality content, and links. Sites like "keyword.info"..or "keyword-keyword.org", etc. seem to be gaining some of the top spots. This comes years after solidly dominating our niche, and steady traffic. My theory is the latest Google changes are affecting link value, and perhaps we simply got some authority loss...but was wondering if you could shed any light on this issue? Thanks.
