How do I rank multiple pages for my busness/domain name?
-
When someone searches for our business's name (which is also the domain name) we have one listing (with sitelinks) at the top - however I would also like to rank 2nd, 3rd and 4th for this term.
Any suggestions on how this might be done?
Thanks.
-
You could, but it would be more difficult to rank sub-domains. Search for keywords like nytimes, apple etc since we know these sites do have certain sub-domains, none of them show-up in Google in Top 10. I would concentrate on the social media only.
-
I normally keep my sites out of public forums but there are loads of examples.
google indeed and you will see they dominate page 1 for that term
-
In addition to social sites - would creating sub-domains also work? Or would they need to be new root domains?
-
Just for reference, do you have any examples? - the "stephen counsell" example no longer appears to be showing multiple results. I've looked up a few others and the maximum I can see if two results.
-
Yes it is possible with google.co.uk
I have several sites that rank more than once for the same keyword but for different pages on the 1st page of google.co.uk
-
The best way to rank for your brand name with other/more URLs that you control to some extent would be the social media ones. Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, LinkedIn etc.
-
I don't see any reason it'd be different for google.co.uk over google.com.
I did a browser search in google.co.uk for medicx - Interesting results.
Your domain is #1
#2 medicxpharmacy
#4 www.medicxfund.com/investors
Seems www.medicxfund.com are listing 2 pages for 1 term.

Perhaps this is different for Google.co.uk - or do you mean you can rank using different domains e.g. Twitter, LinkedIn
The domain in question is: http://www.medicx.com/

I have managed to rank for "stephen counsell" multiple times on page 1. So it is possible.
What's your domain / business name?
-
Hi Steve
Thanks for the swift reply. Although am I right in thinking that ordinarily you can only rank once for your Domain / Business name? I've had a look for examples where this isn't the case but haven't been able to find any.
-
Hi Matt
Hmm, sounds like you actually want to compete with yourself.
So, If I was going to do this I'd create a number of pages with different and unique content targeted at different angles on the key phrase (your business name).
The I'd start to create a set of backlinks for each of the pages so that they all have a similar ranking for the term.
I see why one would want to do this. Page 1 domination for a key term, but don't get too hung up on the Business Name. In my opinion you'd be better spending the effort creating really great content about the service or products you provide.
Good luck an dI hope this helps.

Have AMP pages on Chrome disappeared?
Hi, We amplified our site the other day and Google was quick to find our AMP pages. Today, we can´t seem to find any AMP pages on Chrome and it looks like we can´t find any other pages from sites like Wapo and so forth. They´re still visible on Safari. We are searching from Iceland. Is anyone experiencing this and if so, could you please share a link to the news? Thanks and have a nice day!

Do scraped or borrowed articles with my links still pass page rank?
I wrote some articles for Ezine Articles a few years back and i still see links in the ose to my site that are from these articles that were borrowed from the Ezine Articles bank. Do the links in these articles still count toward my site including link juice and anchor text or does google discount them as duplicate content? I was told that Google counts these links for about 3 weeks and then discounts them as duplicate content so it's like they don't exist. Any truth to this or should i make the articles on my site available for people to copy and paste into their blogs as long as they keep my links intact? Thanks, Ron

SEO Test: Domain Hyphenation [Update]
In May I announced test results for domain hyphenation but after a 3 month followup the results have changed and the hyphenated domain now wins on what seems to be the first link instance advantage. I was unable to discover any other factors which may have influenced this test but if anyone has any ideas I would like to hear about it. Here are the details of the SEO test and revealed URLs.

Site Usage Statistics and organic ranking
I'm not sure if anyone has tested this properly but i'm begining to suspect that google is using site usage statistics as a site quality guide and ultimately as a ranking variable. The this what i've seen so far on one of my sites (site A) Week 1= bounce rate (83.88%), Avg time on site (0:0:57), Pages/visit (1.28) no changes made to the site apart from the usual link building. Week 2: Traffic drops by 30%, Keywords generating traffic drops by 39%. Bounce rate (87.25%), Avg time on site (0:0:43), pages/visit (1.21). I replaced all affiliate links on my homepage to internal pages where the chunk of the content is and did a reconsideration request. Week 3: Traffic goes up by 30%, keywords generating traffic goes up by 65%, Bounce rate (30.41%), Avg time on site (0:3:02), Pages/visit (3.74). This is not the most scientific test but surely google must be using these variables and a ranking factor? Anyone seen something along these lines or have thoughts on it?

Using Brand Name in Page titles
Is it a good practice to append our brand name at the end of every page title? We have a very strong brand name but it is also long. Right now what we are doing is saying: Product Name | Long brand name here Product Category | Long brand name here Is this the right way to do it or should we just be going with ONLY the product and category names in our page titles? Right now we often exceed the 70 character recommendation limit.

Was I Kicked Off Google Page One by Panda/Farmer?
Took over this site in March. Got a Panicked call from client Mid-March that all of a sudden keywords that put the site on Page One weren't working. There are still 9 that work, but apparently there were more. A large percentage of the backlinks are from Article Directories and Link Farms. Is this my problem? Also, a large percentage of the 149 pages suffer from keyword stuffing and were obviously written for Search Engines and not people. How much of a difference does that make?
