Keywords in URL:
-
what kind of URL should we use?
www.keyword.net/keyword-city or www.keyword.net/city which URL you would prefer?
-
Usually you won't need the plural form. As for your main question, I agree with previous responders: Option #2!
-
I'd go with the second, again because you don't want to look keyword-stuffed, and the second option is shorter, which helps when you're wanting to share your URL in social areas and if people are typing in your URL.
-
thanks guys one more question:
www.keyword.net/keyword-city or www.keyword.net/keywords-city (plural)
is this helpful to use to add the plural form?

Between those two I would choose the second, the first one just seems like you are trying too hard to stuff those keywords in the URL.
-
Either should be fine from an SEO perspective. I'd decide based on what would make most sense to users - probably the second.

301 and the base URL
Hi, please bear with me as I'm pretty new to all this! I've my base URL but obviously want to add keywords to it for seo purposes. Should I redirect from the base URL to the URL with the keywords appended? So my landing page goes from say www.moz.com to www.moz.com/keywords-here. If I do that, should I replicate all the meta data (descriptions etc) on the original landing page? Or does it not matter? Thanks, Nick

Hello! I just read the "15 SEO Best Practices for Structuring URLs" but I have still a question: My A version bellow "20 accessoires" has no meaning in french. If I add "voyage" (version B), then is it considered as spammy? I mean the "voyage" keyword repetition? A) http://www.lytchee.com/preparer-son-voyage/20-accessoires/ B) http://www.lytchee.com/preparer-son-voyage/20-accessoires-voyage Thanks for advices! Sylvain

Two URL's for the same page
Hi, on our site we have two separate URL's for a page that has the same content. So, for example - 'www.domain.co.uk/stuff' and 'www.domain.co.uk/things/stuff' both have the same content on the page. We currently rank high in search for 'www.domain.co.uk/things/stuff' for our targeted keyword, but there are numerous links on the site to www.domain.co.uk/stuff and also potentially inbound links to this page. Ideally we want just the www.domain.co.uk/things/stuff URL to be present on the site, what would be the best course of action to take? Would a simple Canonical tag from the '/stuff' URL which points to the '/things/stuff' page be wise? If we were to scrap the '/stuff' URL totally and redirect it to the 'things/stuff' URL and change all our on site links, would this be beneficial and not harm our current ranking for '/things/stuff'? We only want 1 URL for this page for numerous reasons (i.e, easier to track in Analytics), but I'm a bit cautious that changing the page that doesn't rank may have an affect on the page that does rank! Thanks.

Targeting local keywords and service areas.
Hi, I run a small photo booth rental business in San Francisco, CA that serves the greater Bay Area. I've created different webpages for each location that we serve, ie: "San Francisco Photo Booth", "Oakland Photo Booth", "San Jose Photo Booth", etc.... I'm assuming that for each city, the strongest keyword would be "City-Photo Booth". However, I also want to target different variations of the keyword, such as: San Francisco Photo Booth: -Photo Booth San Francisco -SF Photo Booth -San Francisco Photobooth -San Francisco, CA Photo Booth -etc.... Will adding these keywords onto the same webpage dilute the relevance of my main keyword "San Francisco Photo Booth"? Also, is there any way to place these words within the text of the webpage so that it does not sound akward and unnatural to the reader? Any advice would be appreciated, thanks!

Title Tag, Are the Keywords Plucked out of it?
We are working on redoing our site and I read the article from rand about how to properly format title tags, here http://www.seomoz.org/blog/tactical-seo-how-many-termsphrases-should-i-target-on-a-single-page He showed how he could take 6 keywords and use them all in the title tag: The title Tag:

Ted Baker London - Men's Clothing Collections 2005-2008 | Sartorialmoz.org The keywords:
Ted Baker
Ted Baker London
Ted Baker Clothing
Ted Baker Mens
Ted Baker Mens Clothing
Ted Baker Mens Collection So what I am wondering is the keyword Ted Baker Mens Collection actually getting found. In this case we are dealing with a contraction (men's) and a plural form of a keyword (collections). Is it plucked out from the title tag above?
Like this? Ted Baker London - Men's Clothing Collections 2005-2008 | Sartorialmoz.org In his article he goes on to say the biggest mistake he sees is, unfortunately exactly the way our site was built 6 years ago. That is people doing this: Ted Baker, Ted Baker London, Ted Baker Clothing, Ted Baker Men's Clothing, Ted Baker Clothing Collection - Buy Online Now at Manamialameseo.com Our site does just that, while we are PR 4 and get decent traffic for the business we are in, we are doing a huge update with new pages, information, and most importantly trying to get all the SEO the best as possible. I want to make sure before we make these what could be huge impact changes that search engines do in fact Pluck the keywords from the title tag, and they are not required to be together. Thank you for any thoughts, answers and most importantly your time. Example following this formula: Our Top 3 Keywords:
Molded Rubber
Rubber Molding
Custom Molded Rubber Our Old way:
Title: Custom Molded Rubber, Rubber Molding, Molded Rubber
The new way:
Title: Custom Molded Rubber - Molding Services | OurSite.com0 -
