Did I get penalized by Panda 3.9?
-
Hey guys,
So I have been on Google analytics and I looked at Traffic Sources > Search Engine Optimization > Queries & Landing Pages
From Tuesday until today I am showing 0 impressions for top queries when we usually average around 9000 impressions daily, I am seeing the same for landing pages. When I go into google webmaster tools I am seeing 0 data from tues-today. It doesnt say that I have 0 impressions, it is just not showing me those dates, almost like I am unable to see data that is so close to today.
The weird thing is that traffic to the sites in question is higher or normal to what it has been the whole month which makes me think that this is some sort of glitch. If we are being penalized and indeed have 0 impressions via search then our traffic would drop tremendously.
When I sign out of google and search for our search terms, I am seeing our site pop up right where they should be. When I use the Page Rank tool I am also seeing us in the SERPS where we should be. Wed morning when I came into work after SEOmoz had an updated keyword rank report, I saw some great gains for a lot of our keywords. I am super confused and hoping that I was not part of the 1% affected. There is no reason for our sites to be penalized, they have great authority, healthy traffic, and go by SEO best practices. We have great content!
Has anybody ever ran into this problem? Could use some guidance!

After digging around, this is normal. Google Webmasters has a 2 day delay for SEO information. I am assuming that everyone who goes into webmaster tools and goes to the traffic tab > search queries is only able to see information up to July 23rd. Google analytics gets their SEO data through webmaster tools, this is why I am seeing 0 impressions. So tomorrow the impressions should go from 0 to the correct amount for the 24th of July. PHEW

When something like this happens, I always check to be sure my analytics code is installed correctly - sometimes I recopy/paste it into the footer file.
Then I email a couple of trusted friends in other parts of the USA and ask them to take a look.

PDF best practices: to get them indexed or not? Do they pass SEO value to the site?
All PDFs have landing pages, and the pages are already indexed. If we allow the PDFs to get indexed, then they'd be downloadable directly from google's results page and we would not get GA events. The PDFs info would somewhat overlap with the landing pages info. Also, if we ever need to move content, we'd now have to redirects the links to the PDFs. What are best practices in this area? To index or not? What do you / your clients do and why? Would a PDF indexed by google and downloaded directly via a link in the SER page pass SEO juice to the domain? What if it's on a subdomain, like when hosted by Pardot? (www1.example.com)

No matter what we seem to do, we can never get higher up on Googles ranks. What gives?
We are in independent car dealer in a small(ish) town in Arkansas. No matter what we do, we can never seem to get past the second or third page on Google's ranks. We have a blog, we pay for SEO help from dealer vendors, we have consistent information on our site, etc. etc. . I'm at a loss. I don't know what else to do. Based on our Moz Site Crawl report, we have 185 pages that have duplicate content. However, these are pages that publish our auto check reports for inventory that potential customers request from our site. I guess these auto check reports expire because when I click on the link from the Moz report it says it can no longer be displayed and to contact the dealer (http://www.rathautoresources.com/autocheck.aspx?vin=1C6RR7KT4DS539140)

Help! Need to Get Traffic Back Up in Saturated Market
I was looking in one of my client's Google Analytics profiles, and noticed that they had two major drops in traffic before we started working with them—and they've never really recovered. The first, and most significant drop was around January 2015. And then the again, but not as drastic of a drop, was around September 2015. They are a heating and cooling company, but they are located out west so this shouldn't be a seasonality thing. Here is a link to what the BIG drop is traffic looks like in January 2015: http://imgur.com/a/Y1s8U To get a clearer picture, here are the numbers for the overall website traffic:

September 1, 2015 - September 30, 2015: 30,923 sessions
September 1, 2015 - September 30, 2016: 13,768 sessions Year over year traffic to the website dropped by 55%. Here is a link to what year over year looks like in Google Analytics: http://imgur.com/a/TPdJQ Like I said, we weren't working with them at the time so I don't know specifics about what might have caused this, but their numbers have never even come close to reaching what they used to be prior to the noticeable drop after September 2015. Does anyone have any insights into why this might be? Was there an algorithm change back then that could still be impacting them? Any ideas how to get them back to where they once were? Any input is greatly appreciated! Thanks.1 -
Why Is My Traffic Going Up But My Alexa Rating Getting Worse?
I am curious why my Alexa rating has been getting worse over the last few weeks. My organic traffic is up, direct visits and social networking visits are up but my Alexa has been getting worse and worse. Is anyone having the same problem? Any feedback would be helpful. Thanks.

Getting Traffic for an Unranked Phrase
Over the last month, 40% of a client's search traffic as resulted from a phrase that they are not even ranking for in the top 100; nor are they popping up on PPC ads for it. How is this happening? I feel like I am missing something very obvious.

Getting traffic for another site
Hi Everyone, Our website url/brand is very close to another website url/brand. We are non-competing entities. It appears as though this other company has begun a marketing program which has resulted in our traffic skyrocketing. However, it seems to have also resulted in our Pages/Visit and Visit Duration to decrease and our Bounce Rate to increase. Can anyone suggest how to deal with this type of scenario? Thanks,

Get Stats on Search Box Usage, Using Google Analytics?
Let me preface this by first saying I am NOT using the Google Adsense Search feature. The question I am asking is pertaining to the standard search box that comes already coded in most .php blogs. In the Google Analytics, is there a way to tell how many people are searching using the search box? I've looked through the navigation and pathway options in analytics and I don't seem to see anything that definitively points to the number of people using the search box but, perhaps, I am overlooking it. Any insight?
